Men's Autumn Outfit - Black & Grey Check Shirt

When it comes to autumn, one thing I love to wear is more long sleeve shirts. There’s so many to choose from, and a check shirt is an excellent pick.

While the summer months can be too hot to wear a button up shirt, the beginnings of autumn provides the perfect weather to wear them.

This is my black and grey check shirt which I have styled for today’s autumn outfit.

One of the best fashion trends for autumn has to be a check shirt. You can wear them a number of ways, including wearing them on their own, wearing a jacket over, and wearing them open, with a t-shirt underneath.

Check shirts are a great layering piece, giving any outfit more more dimension and making the overall look put together.

Another good thing about a check shirt is that there are so many patterns and colours, so you can really make an overall look be distinctive while still being quite smart.

Today’s check shirt I wore this black and grey option. It’s a buffalo style check, with three shades of black and grey that give it a nice tonal look.

All the colours being close together keep the shirt looking smart and toned down, which isn’t always the case with a check pattern.

The shirt itself is from H&M, and is 100% cotton, with dark grey buttons and is a button up style.

I love the fit, which is a slightly slim fit which suits my silhouette perfectly.

I have worn this shirt with a bomber jacket, namely my Paul Smith bomber jacket.

I absolutely love this jacket, and think that it goes well with this shirt.

The plain navy blue jacket makes this look like a really good smart casual outfit, perfect for the autumn. It’s such an easy to wear combination, which is why I love wearing this jacket.

Pairing up a bomber jacket with this shirt keeps the overall look casual, as it would with a check shirt. But adding a jacket gives it that slightly smarter look, which is something jackets can do.

When it comes to my lower half, I am wearing a pair of navy blue chinos.

They complete the outfit, and I love wearing chinos as an alternative to jeans. They give off that slightly smarter look, and compliment the outfit well.
