Wide Jeans Trend – The Best Wide Leg Jeans For Men

Fashion, Men's Style Guides
Monday, 25th February, 2019

When it comes to jeans, It’s not a big secret that for years slim fit, and in particular skinny fit jeans have been stylish and on trend.

Times could be changing, with a lot of loose fits and wide leg jeans coming to the front, will the wide leg jeans trend be here in this season for guys?

For the ladies, it’s already seemingly here. There’s plenty of high waist, wide leg jeans, and for us guys, it seems that the trend could be coming back too, with ours of course, usually coming with a low rise.

It’s not a new thing, there’s plenty of brands which already sell loose fit denim. If you want the best style advice, it’s to buy the jeans for your body shape. Slim and skinny is fine for slender or average guys, but if you’re a bit bigger, then you should be wearing looser fits anyway, so probably don’t know what the fuss is about.

They’ve been going in and out of fashion for decades, from the fond memories of 90’s and 00’s hip hop, with it’s super loose fit. If you prefer your denim more relaxed, then the time has come for you.

There’s a few different options you can pick out, with cuts including:

  • Bootcut jeans
  • Wide Leg
  • Relaxed Fit
  • Loose Fit

Good For Casual Styling

If you’re going to wear loose fit, these should be seen to be more casual. They are quite a sloppy casual style, with a relaxed and laid back feel to them.

Pairing a pair with something which is oversized is going to really complete this look. Alternatively you can simply style a pair with a plain T-shirt, sweatshirt or jumper.

Since this is a casual look, the wash of the denim could be anything. Dark denim is great to pull off a smarter look, but since the idea of this is casual, you can rock any colour you like.

This includes light or mid wash denim, the good old classic which we think of when we think of denim blue.

The Best Wide Leg Jeans For Men

Nudie Jeans Sleepy Sixteen

I have to start off the guide with my favourite denim brand, Nudie Jeans. They have a brand new fit for this year, which they are calling Sleepy Sixteen. These dry deep jeans are made in Italy, made from 12oz rigid denim and come in a relaxed straight fit.

Get them here at Nudie Jeans for £100

Topman Wide Leg Jeans

Topman have a pair of cropped wide leg jeans in black, which come in a relaxed fit. The rigid denim comes with five pockets and a button fly, and you can pick them up at Topman for £39.

Uniqlo Wide Leg Tapered Jeans

Uniqlo U collection was designed by Christophe Lemaire and come in a wide leg, high waist style, in a range of colours, including light blue, denim blue, off white and black.

You can pick up a pair for under £35 here at Uniqlo.

Levi’s 527 Boot Cut Jeans

There wouldn’t be a denim guide without the legendary Levi’s, and their Levi’s 527 jeans are the boot cuts you’ve been looking for, if you want a wide leg jean. Slim at the top and wide at the bottom, they come in a range of traditional denim colours.

You can pick up a pair at Levi’s here for £85.

Pull & Bear Wide Leg Jeans

Pull & Bear have their Join Life jeans which are a wide leg jean in a classic denim colour. With a zip fly and five pocket design, they are keeping everything traditional. You can get a pair at Pull & Bear for £32.

Conclusion

I have a few pair of jeans which are a more relaxed and looser fitting, but not what I’d call relaxed. Years ago I had some bootcut and loose fit jeans which I still love today. But for styling my usual outfits, I think I’ll be sticking to the slim fits, especially when I want to wear them for a smart casual outfit.

If you don’t want to go for a slim or skinny fit but loose isn’t for you, check out a pair of straight leg.
