Dolce And Gabbana The One Grey For Men Fragrance Review

A new year usually means new scents for me, as it’s one of the easiest things to buy me for Christmas. In the past year I’ve had my eye on two scents which were recently released, one of them being Dolce And Gabbana The One Grey for men.

Grey is the latest in the line of The One scents released from Dolce And Gabbana, following on from the original which was a big hit and Gentleman which was a personal favourite of mine. It comes 10 years after the original, so what’s this one all about?

First of all let’s start with the bottle. It’s follows in the footsteps of the other scents in the range, with the clean rectangular bottle in a clear glass, with a nice polished silver top spanning the whole width of the bottle. I’ve always liked this design, the lines and angles are clean, with a nice big heavy top it does feel premium.

The branding is the simple word GREY to the centre of the bottle in a medium sized clean font, with the usual Dolce & Gabbana The One wording to the base of the bottle.

Since I got this at Christmas I got this in a gift set. The 50ml bottle comes with a 10ml slender spray bottle which is great for using before moving on to the big bottle, or to take with you while travelling or out and about.

The fragrance itself is a really pleasant one. As soon as I smell it I get a sense of the vetiver straight away, very similar to Tom Ford Grey vetiver, so in this sense, it does live up to it’s name. The grapefruit also shines through as do a couple of the other notes, giving it a slightly fresh and citrus kick to it.

This is quite an inoffensive fragrance, so it’s unlikely to offend anyone, and I think that a lot of people will like this one. It’s quite an inviting scent, and I think that this one can work in a number of situations, seasons and times of day, making it a good all rounder.

I think it’s best served as a day scent when you want to wear something which is really inviting without being overpowering or that “off to the nightclub” vibe. It’s probably not an all round powerhouse in terms of evening fragrances for getting compliments like others, but that’s not a bad thing.

Wearing it to the office or out in town during the day is a good place for this one, and could get compliments in those environments.

Is It Worth Getting?

In my opinion this scent is worth getting. It will set you back around £40-£50 for a 50ml bottle, and it’s a nice pleasant scent to own. The vetiver is distinctive and will be different from most of the other scents you own (unless you already have vetiver based scents).

If you have The One Grey, let me know what you think. As always, you can check out more fragrance reviews here, whether you’re looking for a brand new scent or one of the classics.
