We’re getting well into Autumn now which means using some darker scents that smell good.
It’s perfect timing for a new fragrance, and Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Dark Leather eau de parfum is a scent that fits the bill perfectly.
Here’s everything you need to know about the fragrance, including that all important smell test.
Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Dark Leather eau de parfum is a brand new fragrance for 2024, and the latest in the successful Spicebomb line. I’ve been lucky to try this one out thanks to Viktor & Rolf for a full test of this scent.
I’ve already had a few scents from the range, including the original Spicebomb EDT as well as Infra Red eau de parfum which was released last year.
Here’s what you need to know about this year’s release, Dark Leather eau de parfum.
What Does Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Dark Leather Smell Like?
When I first smell Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Dark Leather I am hit with that dark, warm spicy notes that you expect just based on the name. There’s notes of spicy black pepper and leather, with some smoky tobacco notes as soon as you smell it.
Once it settles down I get strong hints of the cinnamon which shine through.
It’s a really dark inviting type of smell, masculine and mature, and has some similarities to other fragrances with similar profiles such as Man In Black from Bvlgari.
That’s no bad thing, that smells good as does Spicebomb Dark Leather.
The warm and inviting nature of this makes it a perfect fragrance for the autumn nights.

Fragrance Accords
How Long Does Fragrance Last?
When it comes to the longevity, Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Dark Leather lasts around 6-7 hours, which is a reasonable amount of time. It’s not a super long lasting fragrance, which may surprise some considering the profile of the scent.
But it’s mostly about subtle hints of the notes, rather than huge punches of the fragrance.
How Strong Is Fragrance?
As alluded to above, Spicebomb Dark Leather is not a fragrance which is overly strong or packs a huge projection. It is an eau de parfum, so you may expect it to be strong, but instead it has a more refined type of smell. The dark notes coming through subtly rather than a knock out punch from the first spray.
How Many Sprays Do You Need?
When it comes to the number of sprays for this fragrance, I would use the usual amount. I would spray this 2x on the chest, 3x on the front of the neck, 1x on the back and 2x on the wrists, giving it a total of 8 sprays for Spicebomb Dark Leather.
There’s no need to overspray because of the scent profile being quite heavy, but it’s not strong enough for any under spraying either.
Spicebomb Dark Leather Pros And Cons
Pros
- Subtle dark scent
- Works well on an evening in colder months
- Grown up gentlemanly smell
Cons
- Not incredibly strong
- Does not last as long as it should
Spicebomb Dark Leather Bottle
As with all the bottles in the range, the Spicebomb Dark Leather bottle is a grenade glass bottle style in shape. This one coming in black and being completely opaque.
The bottle is finished off with a black band with branding, as well as the V&R “pin clip” you need to remove to start spraying.
The atomiser on this is very good, in keeping with the rest of the line. I get a good wide spray with this.
I have a 90ml bottle, with 50ml and 150ml bottles being available too.
What Clothes To Wear With Spicebomb Dark Leather
When it comes to a clothes pairing, smart casual, smart or formal is definitely the style of clothes that’s going to work well with this scent.
Being a grown up and mature scent, you can wear this with a full suit, or go with dark denim and a blazer, throwing a smart sweater over a clean shirt if it’s cold enough.
When To Wear Spicebomb Dark Leather
Spicebomb Dark Leather is very much a fragrance to wear in the colder months, so Autumn and Winter are the best seasons to wear this. It’s spicy notes will warm you up, making this the best time of year to put it on.

When it comes to the best person to wear this, Spicebomb Dark Leather is a mature aftershave, so best worn for those 25 and over, possibly even older.
It has that grown up mature dark style to it, a little bit of sophistication. It’s a nice fragrance that’s not trying too hard to be nice, so guys who are slightly older will appreciate it more.
Is Spicebomb Dark Leather Worth It?
Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Dark Leather is all about making that very nice subtle impression without shouting about it. It’s a dark and elegant scent, fantastic for an evening, especially in the colder months.
For those looking for a mature scent that’s got the spicy warm, smoky and little bit of woody notes to it, Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Dark Leather should be considered.
