Pall Mall Barbers Sandalwood and Clove Cologne Review

Pall Mall Barbers first opened it’s doors in 1896 at 27 Whitcomb Street in London, and at the back end of last year celebrated it’s 120th anniversary and is one of the oldest barbershops in the UK.

They sent over their signature scent, Sandalwood & Colve Cologne, which evokes the atmosphere of old-school barbershops.

Style Of The Week - Cream denim and black tee

Hey guys!

It’s Friday, and it’s also Bank Holiday Monday which means an extra long weekend! 🙂

The weather this week has been brilliant! Summer has came, at least for now, and today is supposed to be the hottest day so far. Unfortunately it looks like it’s already coming to an end (according to my phone).

For my style of the week I have gone for this pair of cream denim from ASOS, and a classic Adidas Originals Tee. These jeans are so comfortable! They’re really soft and have some stretch to them, they’re definitely not a classic vintage style of denim that connoisseurs would enjoy, but the fit is pretty good. I’ve featured this pair on the blog a couple of times, and when I bought them originally I didn’t realise how skinny they were until I put them on, and they’re fairly skinny!.

Tommy Hilfiger – Tommy Jeans 90’s Style For Summer 2017

Monday, 22nd May, 2017

As you know I love the 90’s clothing brands which have been going for a few years, and one of the biggest clothing labels which has really embraced the retro vibes has been Tommy Hilfiger. They’ve brought back the Tommy Jeans menswear for a reboot last year, not just once, but two mini collections.

The Summer is here, and they’ve come back with some colours perfect for the Summer, and keep the classic 90’s style with a summer edge to it.

The four hues which are available in a few styles are called Lemon Meringue, Quartz Pink, Corydalis Blue, and Dusty Aqua. These are backed up with the staple colours white, navy and grey.

Only The Brave Tattoo Eau De Toilette Review

Diesel Only The Brave Tattoo Fragrance Review

I never had the original Only The Brave from Diesel, so I can’t compare it to this incarnation, but here’s the one which I do have, it’s Only The Brave Tattoo.

As far as the bottle goes, it’s the same shape and style as the original. It’s quite innovative and original, a fist shape, but instead of a light colour, this is black-blue in colour with Only The Brave Tattoo written on it in a graffiti tattoo style and Diesel branding to the front. It can be stood up in two positions, which is quite unique for a fragrance bottle.

Contrary to the attitude and raw-ness of the bottle, the scent is something different. It’s fresh and fruity, you get a sense of greens which is strong, and a smaller hint of some spicy notes which don’t feel sharp and are quite subtle. On balance it’s a nice scent, it will work well during the day, and if you prefer a lighter scent with just a bit of punch for an evening, it will work in that setting too.

I have had this fragrance for a number of years, and while it’s never been a favourite, it’s definitely not a bad smell at all.

Best season to wear – All Rounder
Scent type – Fruity, Fresh, Slightly Spicy
Age Recommendation – 18+
Best Worn – Day, Evening, Casual, Formal

Top Notes – Red Apple

Middle Notes – Sage, Bourbon Pepper

Base Notes – Amber wood, Benzoin, Amber, Patchouli

Let me know what you think of this if you own it or have the original. You can find more aftershave reviews if you’re looking for a new scent and this one doesn’t sound like a favourite.

CÃŽROC Summer Colada Review

Ciroc Summer Colada Review UK

I think I might have just found my drink for this Summer!

Several months ago I heard about CÎROC Summer Colada and I thought it sounded pretty good, but it was unavailable in the UK. Last week it got a UK release, and I picked up a bottle to see what it was all about. This past weekend I cracked it open and made some cocktails on Saturday night which were pretty good!

I’ve drank cocktails for years, but I’ve always stuck to the same old drinks, mostly vodka based. A few years ago I decided to try a Piña Colada to see if I liked it, and I did. So then I decided to see if I could make my own, and bought the ingredients to try out at home. It didn’t go very well. A Piña colada is not the most difficult cocktail to make. It consists of white rum, pineapple juice and coconut cream. But every time I was trying to make it, it just didn’t seem to taste right, not like what I would get from a cocktail bar. I think I may have used coconut milk, so I did not get that thick creamy texture and possibly used too much white rum which over-powered the taste. Anyway, there’s a new solution for this Summer, CÃŽROC Summer Colada!

Outfit Of The Week: Smart Style With A Sweatshirt

Outfit Of The Week - Michael 84 Style Blog

Can you dress up a sweatshirt?

If you asked me this several years ago I would have said of course not, but a plain and simple sweatshirt can work with a jacket, so I wanted to try it out in my style post for the outfit of the week.

For the past several months I’ve been going out at the weekend in either a shirt or knit, since it’s chilly in the evening it’s usually what I’d choose to wear on a night out in the Winter or start of Spring.

Now the better weather is coming, I wanted to try out my pink sweatshirt, and styled it with a smart jacket and pair of black jeans, as well as some shoes.

Calvin Klein Escape For Men - A Lookback At A Classic

Hey Guys!

So this week I have been checking out another one of my old scents for fragrances revisited, and I’ve gone all the way back to 1993 and to this, Calvin Klein Escape For Men.

Actually, I did not get this in 1993, since I was only 9 years old back then. In fact I probably first got this one in around 2005, but it does bring back some memories.

It’s not as iconic as CK One, which has legendary status, but as soon as I sprayed this the smell of the 90’s came rushing back.

H&M Summer 2017 Menswear – Michael 84 Edit

Tuesday, 9th May, 2017

Summer is right around the corner, and the menswear brands have been getting ready for some time, with a lot of brands and labels having their clothing ready to go for Summer! I’ve noticed a few really nice pieces from H&M this year, so here’s my edit from their Summer 2017 Collection part 1;

No doubt they’ll be adding more and more as the season progresses.

First of all H&M do a lot of fast fashion, that means pieces are continually being added all the time. It also means that most things are quite inexpensive, so if you’re looking to add one or two pieces to your wardrobe it’s perfect.

This Week’s Style – My Levi’s Story

Outfit Of The Week - Levis Tee & Denim

In the past 10 years or so I’ve really got into denim, As I wrote about in my five ways to wear denim post a while back, I never used to wear jeans, I found them uncomfortable as a kid, I was never really aware of the soft washes back then, and did not appreciate raw denim. Anyway, since 10 years have passed I’ve bought a lot of denim from a lot of brands, but I’ve never bought Levi’s, until now.

Levi's Classic T Shirt With 511 Jeans

Levi’s have been around forever, I think if you ask anyone to name a jean brand, the vast majority of people would say Levi’s, and if they didn’t there’s no doubt at all that they’ve heard of them. Not only that, but they have a style which is the most well known, the 501. These were popularised from the 50’s up until the 80s and even 90s, and everyone and anyone wanted a pair of 501’s, they were quite the status piece of clothing to own.

Each youth subculture universally liked the 501’s, I’ve heard plenty of stories of people shrinking their jeans, from wearing them in the bath and drying them to get the best personalised fit for them. However they’ve never seemed like a cool brand, they’ve always felt like “dad jeans”, probably because everyone of my age had parents who loved their 501’s. However times have changed, Levi’s are becoming on trend again, and they’ve got a few more modern and updated styles and items of clothing and jeans.

Levi's Logo T Shirt

I’ve been looking to get a couple of Levi’s things for a few weeks, I wanted to try on some things rather than buying them online but I’ve been too busy to go to the Levi’s shop in the town, but earlier this week I finally went and got a few things as you’ll have already saw on the blog.

First of all I wanted two T-Shirts. The classic logo tee in white, and the new logo shirt in grey, and that’s exactly what I got. The classic logo, or Housemark as Levi’s call it is a must have and I wanted it in white as it’s the most universal colour which I can wear with a lot of other clothing. This is the tee I’m wearing for the Outfit of the week, and no doubt I’ll be wearing the other one in another outfit post soon.

Levi's 511 Selvedge Jeans With Converse

Denim lovers will know all about Selvedge, and people who read the blog will know how much I love it. If you don’t know what it is, I wrote a helpful selvedge denim guide a while back, but it’s a type of denim which is much loved by many. I noticed that Levis do Selvedge, but I wasn’t sure on their fits, I prefer a slim or skinny fit in jeans now. They happened to do Selvedge in their 511 style which is a slim fit, but since I’ve never bought Levi’s jeans before I wanted to try these on. I loved them and bought them, and can see getting a lot of wear from these. They’re a dark wash which I prefer, so I can wear them for everyday smart casual occasions and on a night out they’ll look great too.

I paired these up with another timeless and classic item; A pair of red Converse.

Let me know what you think of this look and Levi’s in general, and Happy Friday! 🙂

The Real Shaving Co. Shave Gel & Moistureiser – Introduction

Real Shaving Co. Review

When it comes to shaving, I think it’s safe to say we all have our very own regimes and how we do things. I certainly do, and it usually involves a couple of steps, from start to finish. The Real Shaving Co. is a British gentlemen’s grooming brand who manufacturer their products in the heart of Somerset, and have been offering superior skincare since 1953.

I’m taking a look at a couple of their products. They combine modern formulations with decades of experience in skincare expertise, focusing on both normal and sensitive skin. Their products are free from parabens, microbeads, SLS and SLES which is increasingly important these days.
