Suit up boys, it’s time for Prom! Back in the good old days it was the school dance, but in the UK we’re taking on American culture and calling it the Prom, and occasionally the leavers ball or summer ball.
As the school year is ending, you’ll be gearing up for your prom, so you need to make sure you get your clothing right, it’s time to fix up and look sharp and make sure you’re looking on point for the night.
For a girl it’s about a prom dress, quite straight forward, but for a guy the choice is for more varied, and you’ll want to get it right so you not only look good but feel confident in what you’re wearing.
Check out some fashion advice, tips and ideas on what to wear to your school Prom.
Adidas Originals have announced the upcoming release of the iconic Campus silhouette for Summer 2017, which sees the shoe that went from Sport to Street in the downtown New York scene. Originals collaborates with Blondey McCoy, Na-Kel Smith, Tavia Bonetti and Tiffany Lighty to celebrate the brave, bold attitude of the Campus shoe in the No Time to Think campaign.
This is my first ever scent from Kenneth Cole, and it’s a good one, this is Black Bold. They say that this fragrance aims to embody the old essence of New York and celebrate confident individuals who like to live life on the edge. How does it smell? Here’s my review of this eau de parfum.
First of all I have to begin with the bottle. It’s a circular shape and is all black and very smooth and sleek. It has a faux-leather wrap around which covers most of the body of the bottle, which has the simple and clear Black Bold Kenneth Cole branding to the front.
It’s a nice clean design which will sit well on a shelf or draw, it’s fairly distinctive so you’ll be able to distinguish it from other bottles you may have.
What Does Black Bold by Kenneth Cole Smell Like?
As for the smell itself…The name is a giveaway for the style of scent this is going to be; Black indicates dark, and it is that. It’s a woody aromatic type of scent, very inviting and a mysterious kind of smell. It’s spicy but not sharp, and has quite a subtle and soft element to it.
It’s quite a gentlemanly classic fragrance without being too musky or woody, and is strong enough to leave an impression without being overpowering.
There are very slight citrus notes, but I get more woody tones from this. I would wear this on an evening, and would work in most situations.
Best season to wear – Autumn/Winter Scent type – Slightly woody and spicy, Aromatic Age Recommendation – 21+ Best Worn – Evening, Casual, Formal
Top notes: zesty citrus, herbal tones Middle notes: ground nutmeg, lotus flower Base notes: wood, leather, musk

I hope you are well and have had a great week. It started off well with a Bank Holiday, but for some reason this week hasn’t felt any shorter and I am so glad that it’s Friday and the weekend is here. I can’t believe June is already here, when it starts you know that it’s truly the start of Summer, and I do love the Summer 😀
For my outfit of the week I have gone for something simple, all from one brand, Levi’s. You remember that a few weeks ago I picked up some thing from Levi’s, I really like some of the stuff they’ve been putting out, and it’s definitely a brand which is back on trend.
Pall Mall Barbers first opened it’s doors in 1896 at 27 Whitcomb Street in London, and at the back end of last year celebrated it’s 120th anniversary and is one of the oldest barbershops in the UK.
They sent over their signature scent, Sandalwood & Colve Cologne, which evokes the atmosphere of old-school barbershops.
It’s Friday, and it’s also Bank Holiday Monday which means an extra long weekend! 🙂
The weather this week has been brilliant! Summer has came, at least for now, and today is supposed to be the hottest day so far. Unfortunately it looks like it’s already coming to an end (according to my phone).
For my style of the week I have gone for this pair of cream denim from ASOS, and a classic Adidas Originals Tee. These jeans are so comfortable! They’re really soft and have some stretch to them, they’re definitely not a classic vintage style of denim that connoisseurs would enjoy, but the fit is pretty good. I’ve featured this pair on the blog a couple of times, and when I bought them originally I didn’t realise how skinny they were until I put them on, and they’re fairly skinny!.
As you know I love the 90’s clothing brands which have been going for a few years, and one of the biggest clothing labels which has really embraced the retro vibes has been Tommy Hilfiger. They’ve brought back the Tommy Jeans menswear for a reboot last year, not just once, but two mini collections.
The Summer is here, and they’ve come back with some colours perfect for the Summer, and keep the classic 90’s style with a summer edge to it.
The four hues which are available in a few styles are called Lemon Meringue, Quartz Pink, Corydalis Blue, and Dusty Aqua. These are backed up with the staple colours white, navy and grey.
I never had the original Only The Brave from Diesel, so I can’t compare it to this incarnation, but here’s the one which I do have, it’s Only The Brave Tattoo.
As far as the bottle goes, it’s the same shape and style as the original. It’s quite innovative and original, a fist shape, but instead of a light colour, this is black-blue in colour with Only The Brave Tattoo written on it in a graffiti tattoo style and Diesel branding to the front. It can be stood up in two positions, which is quite unique for a fragrance bottle.
Contrary to the attitude and raw-ness of the bottle, the scent is something different. It’s fresh and fruity, you get a sense of greens which is strong, and a smaller hint of some spicy notes which don’t feel sharp and are quite subtle. On balance it’s a nice scent, it will work well during the day, and if you prefer a lighter scent with just a bit of punch for an evening, it will work in that setting too.
I have had this fragrance for a number of years, and while it’s never been a favourite, it’s definitely not a bad smell at all.
Best season to wear – All Rounder Scent type – Fruity, Fresh, Slightly Spicy Age Recommendation – 18+ Best Worn – Day, Evening, Casual, Formal
Top Notes – Red Apple
Middle Notes – Sage, Bourbon Pepper
Base Notes – Amber wood, Benzoin, Amber, Patchouli
Let me know what you think of this if you own it or have the original. You can find more aftershave reviews if you’re looking for a new scent and this one doesn’t sound like a favourite.
I think I might have just found my drink for this Summer!
Several months ago I heard about CÎROC Summer Colada and I thought it sounded pretty good, but it was unavailable in the UK. Last week it got a UK release, and I picked up a bottle to see what it was all about. This past weekend I cracked it open and made some cocktails on Saturday night which were pretty good!
I’ve drank cocktails for years, but I’ve always stuck to the same old drinks, mostly vodka based. A few years ago I decided to try a Piña Colada to see if I liked it, and I did. So then I decided to see if I could make my own, and bought the ingredients to try out at home. It didn’t go very well. A Piña colada is not the most difficult cocktail to make. It consists of white rum, pineapple juice and coconut cream. But every time I was trying to make it, it just didn’t seem to taste right, not like what I would get from a cocktail bar. I think I may have used coconut milk, so I did not get that thick creamy texture and possibly used too much white rum which over-powered the taste. Anyway, there’s a new solution for this Summer, CÎROC Summer Colada!
If you asked me this several years ago I would have said of course not, but a plain and simple sweatshirt can work with a jacket, so I wanted to try it out in my style post for the outfit of the week.
For the past several months I’ve been going out at the weekend in either a shirt or knit, since it’s chilly in the evening it’s usually what I’d choose to wear on a night out in the Winter or start of Spring.
Now the better weather is coming, I wanted to try out my pink sweatshirt, and styled it with a smart jacket and pair of black jeans, as well as some shoes.
