The Worst Fashion Purchase Ever?

Monday, 14th November, 2016

ed-hardy-christian-audigier-hoodie

Since I am a fashion blogger I get to see so many clothes, fashion and styles from a huge number of brands. I also notice so many trends, and have jumped onto many, and for some things, really been at the forefront of some trends which later go on to become more mainstream which I think is cool. But fashion is fashion, and we can all get it wrong at some point, or maybe get it right at the right time, but later have that “What was I thinking” moment! As the old saying goes, fashion is temporary, style is forever.

I think my worst ever fashion purchase was this Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier hoodie. It’s a burnt reddish-orange/brown dip dye type of colour, with embroidered graphics and full of rhinestones. Back in 2006-2010 Ed Hardy was really popular, and were one of the things to own, and seen as a real statement piece, and probably were the streetwear of their day. The designs were tattoo inspired, and were over the top and filled with colours and usually rhinestones. Rhinestones are not your typical thing to have on men’s clothing, but it was done in such an edgy way that the pieces became a hit, and everyone wanted at least one piece of Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier.

What makes this the worst fashion purchase ever is two key things, the price and the number of times I wore it. The cost? £245! Yes, that much for a hooded sweatshirt. I still remember buying it, there was the choice of this one, or the same design but in a dip-dye blue colour. It was over Christmas and I went down to London for Christmas shopping, and bought it in Selfridges along with a lot of other stuff. One of the worst things is that I hardly wore it, I’ve worn it maybe 9 or 10 times, and never actually worn for years, probably since that Winter.

I probably wouldn’t pay as much for such a piece, It was street style designer back then, but as the years have gone on my ideas have changed, and I would only spend large amounts of money on investment pieces or from labels that have stood the test of time. Having said that, it was a big brand back then, and sometimes you just have to live in the moment. I’ll probably always keep this, you never know, it could come back in style like the 90’s trends have 😛

Narciso Rodriguez For Him Fragrance Review – A Pleasant Masculine Eau De Toilette

Narciso Rodriguez For Him Review

When I first properly got into fragrances and scents as I have done, one of the first ones I got was Narciso Rodriguez For Him. This was released in 2007, and I believe that I got this for Christmas of that year, possibly a year later.

It was quite a mysterious scent for me to get, it’s not the huge name that everyone in the world outside of fashion or perfume knows, and the bottle gives nothing away either since it’s dark and opaque. However once you open it and try it, you’ll know why it’s called, For Him.

New In My Wardrobe – Smart Black Shirts From Jaeger

jaeger-black-shirts-2016

What’s better than a Jaeger shirt? Two Jaeger shirts! 😛

Jaeger had a flash sale on the other day, so I decided to get a black shirt, but the deal was too good to turn down, so I got myself two! I had been looking at these shirts for a little while, they’re poplin cotton shirts with a tiny bit of stretch, something which I love because I think you get a better fit. These are a slim fit too, which is something I prefer, so all round a really good purchase.

A black shirt is something I really love, and think everyone should own one. I probably didn’t even need to buy these two; I already have 3 or 4 which is more than enough, but as mentioned it was too good to turn down, and since I really like this colour the shirts will not go to waste.

One thing worth mentioning is that just like white shirts can loose their “brilliant white” which they have from brand new, black ones can loose their deep black, and start to look a bit drab, so freshening up black shirts in the wardrobe is a good thing to do.

They work well with a lot of clothing, and give an outfit a darker look which sometimes can be a bit too dark, but in the Autumn and Winter it’s perfect.

You can dress it down with a casual jacket, or no jacket at all, but my favourite combination is wearing a black shirt with a suit or blazer jacket, I think it looks really smart. Black is always stylish, and really gives you that affluent style kind of vibe.

What’s your thoughts on black shirts? Check out more pics below…

Guy Fawkes Night

bonfire-night-2016-michael84-1

Hey guys,

I hope that you had a great bonfire night last night! When we were kids we always used to do something for bonfire night; It was always bigger than Halloween, and even though we went Halloween-ing when we were kids, bonfire night was a much bigger deal. We had drinks and food like soup, burgers, hotdogs and things like that, with a bonfire and plenty of fireworks of course. We’d either have fireworks at our place or go to families houses and set them off there, and sometimes neighbours had bonfires and we’d all go, it was the usual thing to do. Now it seems we’ve got a bit “Americanized” and Halloween is a bigger deal, as it has been there for a while, and they don’t have Guy Fawkes Night.

I did not really do anything, but saw some fireworks close by, and it was a chance to take a couple of photos, and give firework photography a try. I’ve never done it before, and had not planned on it, so I had to get my camera set up really quickly, and could not really experiment with settings since it was all over pretty quick. I did get a couple of interesting shots which look pretty cool, and I wrote my initial in a sparkler of course

Daily Street Style – Light Blue Shirt & Suede

street-style-24-october-2016-1

Hey guys!

For this street style type post I decided to wear one of my favourite suede jackets. It’s from JOFAMA a Swedish brand which does a lot of good work with leather jackets, and I picked this up a while back. If you read my blog a lot, you’ll have seen it before, I wear it a lot in Autumn and Spring when I can (when it doesn’t rain!) and as you’ll know from reading my suede jackets for Autumn guide, I really do love this type of leather. I love the detailing on this, especially the shoulders, biker style collar with button, and the zip details on the sleeves.

Merrell Footwear Heritage Collection

If you are an outdoors kind of person and like activities such as hiking, camping and biking, then American lifestyle brand Merrell will be a familiar name to you. For Autumn/Winter 2016 they’ve released their Heritage collection, perfect for the colder weather and season ahead.

The brand new Heritage range maintains the traditional Merrell craftsmanship which has been synonymous with the brand for over 30 years, and takes on a more hipster stylish approach, with each piece of footwear having it’s own individual styling and personality. I grabbed a pair of my favourite from the collection, which are called Solo.

Low Fell – In Da Pub

nightout-30-11-2016-lowfell-4

Hey guys!

I hope you’ve had a good weekend and enjoyed an extra hour when the clocks went back last night/this morning.

So last night we went out and started at Low Fell for some reason, which is in Gateshead quite out of the way really. I thought it would have been pretty poor, but it was actually pretty good, and it made a change starting the night there. We went to places like The Canon, The Bank and The Beaconsfield. After that we went back to the homeland of Newcastle and went to the Quayside, then ended up in Filthy’s.

Bulgari MAN Fragrance Review – The Original Bvlgari MAN Scent Is The Best!

Bulgari MAN Fragrance Review

Bulgari MAN, or Bvlgari MAN as it’s stylised, has been one of my favourite fragrances since I first got it. It was launched in 2010, and I probably got it around that time, and since then, I fell in love with it.

People who like scents like me will tell you it’s not just about the smell, it’s the memories they creates. Since this is one of my favourite scents of all time, I’ve used it so many times and had so many great times while I was wearing it, usually on nights out.
