I have been looking to get this fragrance for quite a long time. It’s called Santal by Floris London, and I have to say it smells amazing.
If you read my blog then you will know my favourite ever scent is Gucci Envy by Gucci, and they have now discontinued Gucci Envy, in fact they did quite a while ago. That means trying to find a bottle is very hard if not impossible, and when you do they are silly prices. I did some researching online and most people said that Floris Santal was most like it. I read one reviewer who said it was “A more refined Envy“. The problem was that this was not so easy to find either, not in store anyway. I wanted to smell it first before buying since it’s quite an expensive one (£75 for 100ml) and my parents happened to be in London and got me a sample. I loved it and now know why someone called it a “more refined Envy”, because that makes perfect sense.
After smelling it I ordered it online via their official site, and it came quickly, well packaged and with a sample of Night Scented Jasmine for women which I must say smells really good too.
I do love the bottle too, a proper old school bottle, and it’s made by a proper British perfume maker rather than just a fashion label who just happen to have released a fragrance which I also like.
So I think I have found my new #1 favourite scent. I said that I will only buy this from now on, but if you see my collection you probably know I will still buy more for variation 😛
(p.s. Floris if you are reading, please don’t do a Gucci and discontinue this!
)

So I saw that the Renford Rejects was on TV again 😀 Not a new series, but the old ones. It got me to thinking it would be fun to edit Football Manager 2013 and put them in the game, just for fun.
It was actually quite a bit of work. I tried to make it as “real” as possible, for example using the real DOB of the actors when I could find them (not the year because the show is 13 years old! 😛 ), where they were born etc.
I think that Dip Dye fashion is great and will be a big thing this season. I really love adding colour to your wardrobe, and this is a fun type of way to do it. When I first noticed this trend there was not much in terms of dip dye to choose from in men’s fashion, there was plenty in the women’s section. I got my first dip dye piece for this season when I got my dip dye Gant knit which I love.
I can now safely say that there are many brand and shops stocking dip dye t-shirts for men for the summer. Above is a small selection I have found which I really like.
Browns is one of the newer bars on Grey Street in Newcastle. I was in there a while back, but did not get round to writing a review of the place.
They offer a range of food, but we went on a night to the bar. It’s what I like to call a “grown up” type of place, where you might take a girl, a meeting bar, or just a bar to chill with friends. There is no music and no girls trying to sell you over-priced shots, just a nice friendly atmosphere.
I had a Piña Colada cocktail from the large selection of cocktails which are on the menu. My first Piña Colada, and it was so good, well worth the £6.95. If you are a wine drinker then you should check out their wine list, which includes white, red, rosé and sparkling white, as well a champagne.
If you want something stronger, choose from the premium brand spirits such as Havana Rum, Grey Goose Vodka, Johnny Walker Gold label and more.
If you are out in Newcastle and want a good cocktail, I recommend going to Browns.

Happy Pancake Day!
Today is one of my favourite days of the year, Shrove Tuesday, aka Pancake day 😀 I really love pancakes, and do not really eat them at any other time because they are so unhealthy 😛 So one day a year I can have them and go crazy and eat lots
What topping do you have? Most people eat them sweet, i.e. with lemon or sugar or syrup, I have even heard of people putting ice cream on them! I could not eat them sweet, I prefer them savoury, and I LOVE to put HP Brown Sauce on mine, and always have done since I was a kid; Some people think that’s weird so each to their own I guess 😛
How I make mine
So you will need:
Mixing bowl, frying pan, whisk, spatula/flipper; eggs, milk, flour.
I used to make them all the time, so I don’t really measure things out, I do use 2 eggs and a good bit of plain flour and milk. I’ll use the quantities from another site.
Sift the flour into the bowl and add the eggs and whisk, then slowly add the milk and continue to whisk until there are no more lumps. Oil the pan and make sure it is really hot, and pour in some of the batter mixture. Spread it around the pan so it covers the base, it does not take long to cook. You can lift up the edges of the pancake to see how the other side is doing, then flip it.
A couple of minutes on each side and it’s done. Serve on a plate with your choice of topping and continue to make more until the batter is finished.
My finished pancake is at the top, complete with HP Brown Sauce 🙂

So far in this mini series of my fragrances, you have seen my least favourite top 10, my current favourites and now it’s time to wrap it up with my all time favourites.
These include scents which I have had for a long time, and some newer ones which I like. Back when I first starting wearing EDT and aftershave I used to have a tiny collection of only three; CK:One, Tommy Hilfiger and Cerruti. The Cerruti was really strong, and wearing too much meant you would be smelling it for a long time and people could smell you from a good distance, but it was a nice smell 😀 The favourite of those three was probably the Tommy, I wore it the most, but have not worn it since I was around 18 years old.
So, to my all time favourites, and here they are.
10. Vera Wang For Men – I think I got this in 2007 or 2008 and I like it. It’s a woody spicy kind of scent, and has a pleasant aroma.
9. Bleu De Chanel – An elegant typical man’s type of smell, perfect to wear on a night out.
8. BOSS Bottled Night by Hugo Boss – Again another great smell for a night, it has quite a warm smell.
7. Gucci by Gucci – Strong, woody and slightly peppery, but not over-powering. One of my favourites for sure, in fact I bought another 100ml bottle a few weeks ago.
6. D&G The One – Another woody type of smell, but not too strong. Despite being woody, it has a little fresh-ness to it.
5. Narciso Rodriguez For Him – I got this and fell in love with it. It’s spicy, fresh and slightly musky, and I really do like this one.
4. Lacoste Blue – I don’t think you can buy this any more, but I really love it. It now reminds me of the summer of 2006 where I had this and wore it a lot. A light fresh smell with a hint of spice, great for day or night wear.
3. Armani Code – Another one I have recently just re-bought in a 125ml bottle. A one for the night, it’s smell is inviting and addictive.
2. Bvlgari MAN – Almost my favourite, and it’s the one I currently use the most. The smell that has everything; Manly, woody, spicy and fresh, it’s like an old school classic scent which has been refined for the modern man. I have around 30% of a 50ml bottle left, then bought a brand new 100ml bottle!
1. Gucci Envy For Men – Of course it has to be number 1. I first got it in 2005, and right there and then it was my favourite, and nothing has changed. I used it sparingly, and ran out, then found and bought a bottle in 2009 only for it now to be discontinued. So I am down to the last and only bottle I am likely to have, so rarely use it.
If I had of known that then, I’d of bought a few bottles to keep me going! It’s a fresh, slightly citrus but nice and woody type of smell, and is very inviting. Not only a great smell but brings back great memories, so it has to be my all time number 1 scent.
