Geordie Shore

Geordie Shore Series 8 Unofficially Confirmed

Wednesday, 13th November, 2013

Many people have been asking and wondering if there will be yet another series of Geordie Shore. Well the answer is very probably. First of all MTV UK have not announced that it’s cancelled, so you don’t have to worry about that just yet. Some cast members including Holly have indicated that the show will go on, and there will indeed be a series 8.

Series 8 will not include Sophie, who was kicked out someway through the last series. Vicky was also given the boot, but her future remains uncertain as she’s never been officially announced as staying or going. Favourites such as Gaz and Charlotte look like they will remain in the show, with Charlotte stating “I’m in it ’till the end”. There’s possible new members for the next series.

Geordie Shore / Diamond Strip Bar Crawl In Newcastle

Tuesday, 23rd July, 2013

When I go out in Newcastle I keep hearing people talk about Geordie Shore, or are asked by tourists and people who have come up to Newcastle where so-and-so bar is, or in general people talking about bars which are seen in Geordie Shore. Well here is a guide to Newcastle, and the bars featured in Geordie Shore.

First of all if you are coming to Newcastle then you probably want to go to more bars than the ones featured in the show; You will probably be here for a whole night or two, and Newcastle has so many bars to choose from. Not only that, most bars are set in areas, the main ones being:

  • The Diamond Strip (Collingwood Street)
  • The Gate
  • The Quayside
  • The Bigg Market
  • Everything In Between

As you can see from the map, if you wanna do a Geordie Shore style bar crawl then you don’t have far to walk; All these bars are more or less on the same street, almost next door to each other. For the purpose of this I have included some other bars since some are similar, in the same area or just on because you should go to more bars! 😀

You’ll also notice it’s really close to the Central Station, so easy to get to 🙂

The Diamond Strip

It’s currently considered the cool and trendy place to go, and has bars such as Madame Koo, Floritas, House Of Smith, Perdu and Bijoux. Round a couple of corners you have Tup Tup Palace (nightclub) and Ohso. Geordie Shore were famously banned from Perdu and all the bars it’s associated with (The Fluid Group), but I have included it in this guide because it’s the same type of bar as the rest.

The Bar Crawl – Old skool style, no pre-drinking, this is Newcastle, go out for the whole night, not at 11PM!

Start Off – Union Rooms

Let’s make this easy, you can walk pretty much in a straight line for this bar crawl and have a great night. We’ll start at Union Rooms. The Union Rooms is a Wetherspoons chain and is usually a good place to start. It can be busy, but it’s a good place to get a couple of early drinks in, they are cheap, sell a big variety, and you can just chill a little bit before the real start of the night 😀 If you want to start with food, you can get it there, since they do meals. There is no music in this bar, it’s definitely a “meeting” or talking bar.

This is what Revolution looks like, on the corner, with the other bars just down the road

Inisde Revolution on the higher level, it’s pretty full!

Revolution – Cocktails, racks of shots, music, vodka

I love this place, the building is big and amazing, it was actually a former bank. Cool architecture, but let’s talk about the drinks. Revolution is typically a vodka bar, but it does sell beer and other drinks. They do racks of shots, where you can get 12 shots, as well as pitchers of cocktails for all your mates. It’s usually always packed, lots of girls, good music. Price is not the cheapest, but if you get a cocktail you WILL taste the alcohol in these. It’s almost always busy, sometimes it can take a while at the bar but this is a great place.

Floritas Bar
Official Website

Walk past Madame Koo and you will find Floritas next door. Here you will be able to get more drinks, listen to the house music, dance, chill, talk, whatever floats your boat. Have a cocktail, get a beer, or if you wanna splash the cash get a bottle of your favourite spirit or champagne.

You can sort of see the queue for Perdu, this part of Newcastle gets busy at peak times

Official Site

They banned the Geordie Shore cast from going here, but I have included Perdu because it’s a similar type of bar and in the same area. If you are going on a Saturday night at the end of the month expect to queue at peak times, and their door policy can be quite selective. The music is house, and the drinks are not the cheapest, it’s still a decent spot and can attract a good crowd. If you don’t wanna queue, head round the corner to….

Just round the corner from Perdu is Ohso. Walk in and you have a choice to make; Go upstairs, for a slightly quieter experience where there is music, or to the larger downstairs. Be wary of the times you go, despite it being a bar and not a club they charge after a certain time to get in.

Official Site

A favourite of the Geordie Shore lot which means it’s got a lot busier, Bijoux is down the street from Perdu/Floritas and across the road. It’s quite a small bar with a back area with seating, the main bar area has tables with a bit of a dancefloor, with a small VIP area. Book yourself a comfortable table which is basically on the dancefloor for an amazing night.

House of Smith, used to be Baby Lynch

Madame Koo, House Of Smith or Tup Tup Palace

It’s probably time to hit a club now, and the choice is yours. You can head back up the road to Madame Koo or House Of Smith, or check out Tup Tup Palace. Koos is a place for everyone, various music and a diverse crowd. Tup Tup and House Of Smith are the places to go if you are looking for a more upscale end to your night, with house music pumping at Kinky Disco in Tup Tup you can dance the night away. Both clubs embrace the “Dress to impress” statement, to fit in with the crowd you have got to be looking your best.

It’s probably 3AM now, so time to get something to eat and go home! 😉

Official Sites: House Of Smith, Madame Koo, Tup Tup Palace

Mimo, billed as a cocktail bar, just round the corner from Revolution

Other bars – Mimo
Official Site

There are a few more bars I have added which are in the area. Mimo is just round the corner from Revolution. They offer a load of cocktails at a reasonable price, if you are looking for a drink or two early on it could be the place.

A night I had in Empress, check out the lazers!

The Empress
Official Site

A late bar which can be good, The Empress is really jumping with loads of great music and a good crowd. The drinks are pretty good, it can take a while to get served depending on how busy it is, and there is usually some kind of offers on.

“A good night out is more about the people you are with, rather than the places you go. You can have an amazing night out anywhere with the right group of people.”

Have fun in my amazing city, Newcastle 😀 If you want to know more about all the best bars in the Toon, check out my Newcastle Bar Reviews which has the latest information and updates on Newcastle nightlife.

Geordie Shore Clothing And Fashion – Season 5

Wednesday, 20th February, 2013

Another series and another season of clothing for the Geordie Shore lot. I have brought you season 4 clothing and season 3 clothes, and now season 5 is airing here you will find fashion worn by Gaz, James, Ricci, Scott, Dan, Sophie, Charlotte, Vicky and Holly.

Notes about the clothing:

As always, the show is filmed months ago, and a lot of what is worn is out of season and old. Therefore it may be hard to get a hold of the clothes.

Known brands Geordie Shore wear:

  • Sinstar
  • Popissue
  • AMH
  • Each To Their Own
  • The Cuckoo Nest
  • Jack Wills
  • Judas Sinned
  • All Saints

It may be a good idea to search these brands, it will make your search much easier and faster 🙂

NOTE: Please be aware of clothing sites ripping people off. Unfortunately some want to cash in and are selling the clothing at a premium because it’s been on the show, even though it’s old stock.

Please do not email me about the clothes, this post will be updated with clothing as the season goes on. I receive a large number of emails and will sadly not be able to reply to them.

Geordie Shore Fashion And Clothing – Season 4

Wednesday, 7th November, 2012

Since there was a lot of talk and interaction with my post about the clothing and fashion from Geordie Shore season 3, I have decided to run another post for this series.

Notes about the clothing:

Please be aware that the show is filmed months ago, and a lot of what may be worn may be out of season; That means that some items may not be available to buy, or even on sale. Some items may have also been custom made or customised.

Brands which are often worn on Geordie Shore: Jack Wills, AMH, Each To Their Own, The Cuckoo Nest, All Saints, Judas Sinned, Popissue.

IMPORTANT – Please do not email me about the clothing in the show. I get a huge number of emails, and will not be able to respond. Please post here, and read others comments, it will be far, far quicker 🙂 If you are looking for something in particular from the show, I would advise checking one of the brands (listed above) which the cast have often worn.

This red t-shirt was worn in the first episode of season 4 by Gary. These are 2 different shirts, if I remember Gary wore the deep scoop neck version. The deep V scoop has “Honor Is My Life” printed on the back, and the smaller scoop has a larger graphic printed.

These are by a clothing company called Judas Sinned. The deep scoop is called Broken Rose Beach and the smaller scoop is called Peach.

These are on sale at the moment, you should be able to get these and other designed Judas Sinned shirts for around the £30 mark. Be careful! There are some stores trying to cash in on the old stock and are selling them for £50!

Google is your friend 😉 You can also see these and other items which the brand sells on it’s website.

With A Little Bit Of Luck T Shirt by AMH (Ashley Marc Hovelle). This is last seasons shirt and is currently on sale on ASOS (with plentyful stock)

The Cuckoos Nest “Well Behaved” T-shirt which is red in colour and features a girl cigar print with slogan. This is £29.99.

The “I Loved You” T Shirt is made by German brand Save-Fashion..

This post will continue to be updated so keep checking 🙂

Geordie Shore Fashion (Season 3)

Wednesday, 14th March, 2012

So, one of the most emailed questions I have been getting over the past few weeks goes something like this: “What kind of clothes do they wear in Geordie Shore and where can I get them”.

Well, today I am able to tell you 🙂

A lot of the t-shirts and vests that the lads wear on screen are from a place called Each To Their Own. This boutique was founded by Alex Christopher, and is home to the Alex Christopher label which the lads from Geordie Shore wear. These can be bought online from their site, or from one of the three boutiques in Leeds, Sheffield and flagship store in Manchester. Most designs are in limited supply, which gives them an exclusive edge.

Three of the vests, these cost £40 each.

Three of the t-shirts, which cost £55 each

The Geordie Shore lads have also been spotted wearing a few other brands, which usually seem to be Jack Wills and All Saints. The Jack Wills hoodies can be seen worn by Gaz in a few episodes of the show, which sport the familiar “JW” logo on the left breast.

Jack Wills Hoodies are £69 each.

And of course All Saints t-shirts. Mostly scoop necked, with large graphics on the front, these have become a signature of All Saints.

These All Saints T-shirts are around £40 each.

In Chaos In Cancun some of the Geordie Shore lads can be seen wearing these t-shirts. They are designed by Ashley Marc Hovelle (AMH) and can be found in a range of places including Harvey Nichols, Topman, ASOS, and more. Price around £35

People keep asking about the “Summer of love” vest/tee from Geordie Shore. This is a tee, and was probably customised as a vest (sleeves cut). It is from a brand called Outcast, and is an old design. This was being sold “on sale” but is now sold out.

Geordie Shore – What Do You Think?

Thursday, 2nd June, 2011

This is probably going to be my last post on Geordie Shore, unless something relevant comes up. I have lost some inspiration about the show, and its on TV now anyway, you dont need me to keep going on about it.

Anyway, it seems like everyone is talking about it, how bad it is, or the superfans on how amazing it is. So, what do you think?

What do I think?

I have mixed feelings. It is an entertainment show, its supposed to entertain and it does but I feel it could do more. I like the programme for the entertainment value, and since its in my own city of Newcastle I can relate to it like many others. You have to watch it with some perspective, these are young people, and are on a TV show which will dramatise and sensationalise situations like all reality TV shows seem to do. Many things I do not like, such as the fighting in clubs and bars; Does it happen? Yes. Does EVERYONE do it? No. And so far there have been 2 episodes and 2 fight scenes, this is something I dont agree with.

What is a Geordie?

Another massive point, and was always something talked about before the cast were even announced was the use of the word “Geordie”. Everyone will say that a Geordie is someone from Newcastle. This is what I believe and most people do too. So when you have people in there from Sunderland and Middlesbrough and they are calling themselves Geordies all you are doing is annoying people from Newcastle, and probably people from the other areas too; I wonder how many people from Middlesbrough call themselves a Geordie? I would guess none. One cast member: “Being  A Geordie is a lifestyle...” No its not, its when you’re born in Newcastle! I wonder if she was told to say that?

The massive hate

I knew there would be hate, but even I didn’t realise the scale of it. Facebook groups setup, most famously the “Geordie Pride RIP” one, which got featured on the local news and has over 30,000 members. I would ask why do you hate it? Do you hate the show, or do you hate that the way the show is representing Newcastle?

Representation of Newcastle

This is another big point. People are saying it doesn’t represent Newcastle or a true Geordie, well I think some parts do. Girls with fake tan, hair, nails, and are orange, and the lads too. Well there are plenty of those knocking around in Newcastle; Fair enough its not everyone, that is true, but its hardly uncommon, not only in Newcastle but all over the UK. If you are talking about a night out then its easy to find that stereotype; The thing about Newcastle is that as far as drinking goes its pretty diverse; The Bigg Market, The Gate, The Diamond Strip, The Quayside; It is all Newcastle and its all Newcastle nightlife, but there are different scenes with different people, some may like some and not others.

We seen it coming – Myself and people I talked to knew exactly the types of people they would get, and the locations they would use in terms of nightlife, I even guessed where the house would be and I was spot on!

No More Geordie Shore Blogging?

If you read my blog you will know I am all about positivity these days 😛 This show is getting too negative for me, its getting a very bad reputation so I will step back from it for the time being at least.

Newcastle – I Love My City

Tuesday, 24th May, 2011

So tonight is the night that Geordie Shore begins, its judgement night, the end of the world? Its the time there will be a combination of massive amount of hate, and love. There have already been thousands of people talking about it, will it put Newcastle on the map, will it be the worst thing ever for Newcastle? We only have a few hours of waiting to find out.

I do love my city though. I have been to various other ones, and they are great, and I love other places as well, but Newcastle is a very good city to live in.

A football city

We live for football! This is good for me because I love it. The city is already on the map around the world if you are a hardcore football fan. Everyone has heard of Newcastle United, in the mid 90s we were dubbed The Entertainers and everyone always loved to watch Newcastle play, so imagine how geordies felt. We almost won the league a few times, and were considered one of the best teams in the country for a few seasons, qualifying for the Champions League. We have had some games remembered by every football fan in the world, all I have to say are the words Liverpool, and 4-3 and people will know what I am talking about.

Its a little place with so much packed in

Its not the biggest city in England, not by area size or population, but it has so much more than other places. We have Grey Street, voted the best street in Britain, not a street in London, in Newcastle. We have so much nightlife its great, and was voted one of the top 10 places to have a night out In The World! Quite impressive for just a little city in the North of England.

Will the show damage the city?

I dont think so. Anyone who watches Geordie Shore should take it for what it is, entertainment. You should remember that these are young people having fun, and that this is a TV show. I heard some “official” person from”Newcastle-Gateshead” saying “Would we want this in our city if we had a choice? Probably not“. I am sorry but you are an old, out of touch moron who obviously doesn’t go out in the city of Newcastle or know what you are talking about. People like to go out and have a good time in Newcastle, its not the biggest secret in the world, it doesn’t mean its the only thing Newcastle has to offer, but it is what many people like to do. The majority of young people don’t spend their Saturday nights in the Laing Art Gallery, although if you are into art, we do have that too 🙂

It is quite hard to write about it, since nobody has seen it yet, but we will see tonight. I already think I know which people I will like from the show, and the ones I probably wont. Its not really hard to tell is it? I have asked some people, EVERYONE said the same 😉

Geordie Dictionary by Michael

Sunday, 1st May, 2011

Since Geordie Shore is coming, I thought I would write a dictionary for the Geordie you might hear 😀 Everyone knows some Geordie words, like Haway the lads and Byker Grove, and yes, people ask me to say those things all the time on holiday

So, I thought I would make a dictionary/translator type of post, so if you watch Geordie Shore you will know what they are saying, or if you are just interested in the Geordie accent and dialect.

I will give you some words and some sentences. I will write most phonetically, since its slang/dialect there probably isnt really a “correct” way of spelling for some words. p.s. many are taken from old norse, as are some Scandinavian words, so they are similar to some Scandinavian words too 🙂

What do these Geordie Words Mean?

So you’ve probably heard lots of Geordie words, phrases, language and sayings so you’re probably wondering what they mean. Here is a little list to get you started on what the words mean.
