Christmas 2015 Clothing Presents

Featuring:

christmas-2015-presents-happy-socks-bjorn-borg

Happy Boxing Day (Observed) 😛

If you have a job then you’ll be happy that today is counted as a Bank Holiday in the UK, so you’ll of probably had today off, however I broke up from work so I was off anyway. I have bought a few things online in the sales, but since today is a Bank Holiday there’s no deliveries, so I have to wait a little longer.

I got a few really nice things for Christmas this year, including a few tops, some loungewear and socks and boxers. I am really into socks at the moment, I think different colours are so cool and can add to an outfit in the smallest of details.

I got yet more Happy Socks (and I have even more coming!) which I love. I am in some kind of transition with socks, and I’ll pretty much be throwing all my old ones away and replace them with brand new ones this year. I have a few classic black and grey pairs which I’ll keep, other than that, Happy Socks will be my new daily wear. A few new pairs of boxer shorts are never a bad thing, and I got some from Bjorn Borg which I have always liked.

I got this Armani Tee, black with white dots, I have the same one in a different colour pattern, as well as the Armani loungewear top which are really nice.

I got the Calvin Klein loungewear set too, I need fresh new loungewear so I am glad that I got some 🙂

I hope you all had a good Christmas 🙂

Men’s Style – Fashion Friday No.9

Fashion Friday - Men's Fashion Tips Number 9

Did you miss it last week? Well it’s back! Fashion Friday no.9 is here 🙂 I have been running so many features on the blog lately I thought I would give this one a bit of a break, and it’s always been thought of as a weekly/bi-weekly feature, so I can focus on the best men’s clothing to give the best fashion tips out there.

Nudie Jeans Adrian Parka – £460 –

New Look Knitted Jumper – £19.99

Happy socks – £8

Cheap Monday Dictionary T-Shirt – £25

Armani 2-Pack T-Shirts – £26

Burton Bomber Jacket – £14

Superdry Leather Jacket – £200

Selected Homme Merino Knit – £55

First up is this amazingly warm Adrian parka from Nudie Jeans. We’ve had miserable weather in the last few days, fog and rain, and it’s a reminder that colder times are here and winter is right around the corner. The parka fits the bill with a detachable faux fur hood, water repellent outer and padded, quilted inner which will keep you toasty.

The knit from New Look is a contrasting white and black style jumper made from a acrylic-mix and is only £20. A great buy if you’re looking to up your knitwear game for the months ahead and are on a budget looking for something more colourful than a plain jumper.

I still love socks, and Happy Socks have been doing some pretty good designs. one of their latest is their black and white paisley design which I think looks really good, and will add something to any outfit.

Layering is definitely an option when it comes to men’s fashion in Autumn or Winter, and there’s plenty of ways to do it with these next few items. The Cheap Monday T-Shirt is a cool printed white top with a dictionary print. It shows the definition of the words Over My Dead Body, which is över min döda kropp in Swedish, the phrase Cheap Monday uses. House Of Fraser have a 2-pack of Armani tees for only £26. I love these fitted style of tees to use as an under shirt which can be essential to wear under a knit if you don’t want to wear a shirt. The finish off the layering there’s a good deal on this Burton bomber, for only £14 you get this zip-up, which you can layer with a shirt and jacket.

Speaking of jackets, leather is always a good choice when you want to look cool without being cold. Superdry have recently came up with this jacket, the Real Hero Biker jacket. If you want to look casual and have an edge while still looking smart, this is the way to go.

Last up is this knit from Selected Homme. It’s a V-neck knit in 100% fine merino wool in light grey, which is a really good colour which will work with almost everything. At only £55 it’s a good price for 100% merino wool from a good brand.

That is the end of this week’s Fashion Friday. As always you can send me tips on Twitter, I am @Michael84Blog, and you can read last week’s Fashion Friday No.8 here.

From The Sales: House Of Fraser Fashion

Featuring: ,

lacoste-grey-polo-2015-2

I picked up a couple of things from the House Of Fraser sale. I like HOF, they do a lot of brands, from high street fashion to the more high end of the fashion brands which I like. I picked up a pair of chinos by Mango, some Armani Jeans and a Lacoste Polo Shirt.

Lacoste Polo Shirts are timeless. I had a few when I was a teen, and they are as great then as they are now. They usually cost around £60, so when you find these in the sale they are worth the money because they don’t go out of style and the brand is well known for their Polo Shirts. I got this grey one for £37.50, a tad more than half price which is a good deal.

A tradition of the Christmas sales is getting at least one pair of Armani Jeans. I love them so much, they always fit well and I especially like the softer denim they do. These are made from their comfort material as they call it, and really are super soft. It’s a black wash, which I don’t have too many of so this pair appealed to me quite a bit. They were around £100 which is a reasonable price.

Even though I love jeans, particularly dark washes like black and indigo, I’ve wanted to get into more colour in the past few years. I got a lot of colour chinos and denim from Monkee Genes last year, and wrote about this in my coloured denim guide. It’s sometimes thought of a more summer look, but I like to brighten up an outfit and wear other colours. This pair of jeans are a nice colour and are a slim stretch fit. I have bought another pair in an off-white colour which I am waiting for. They are currently £22.

Fragrance Review – Emporio Armani Remix He

Featuring:

Emporio Armani Remix Fragrance For Men Review

For this week’s aftershave review I want to talk about a classic, Emporio Armani Remix for men. It was released in 2006 and I got it around that time, and it holds many memories, and is a really nice smell. I’ve recently learned that it’s now been discontinued, which is a real shame.

Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio Pour Homme Review

Featuring:

Acqua Di Gio By Giorgio Armani

A classic timeless scent which has been around for a long time, I am talking about Acqua Di Gio by Giorgio Armani. It may have been around for a long time, and is loved by many, however it’s one of my newest fragrances. After all the hype surrounding it, I decided that I had to get myself a bottle, it almost felt like a crime not having this in my huge fragrance collection. It first appeared in 1996, and is still going strong, it’s a firm favourite with many, and makes a lot of people’s lists for a must have scent.

I actually picked up the gift set, this was on offer and was the same price as the bottle alone, so it made sense to get the set. Included is a 50ML bottle of the scent, as well as a shower gel and aftershave balm.

I can see why this is a favourite of many. It’s a fresh style of scent with strong hints of citrus, and is masculine without being overpowering. It is a modern classic, there is a hint of musk, but this is subtle, perfect for the summer whether you are out on a night, or need something to wear during the day. It’s a grown up style of scent, so if you’re on the younger side and want something more mature, this would be a good pick. Having said that, if you’re on the older side then this should compliment you well, and will add to your refined look.

Top Notes – Jasmine, Rosemary, Hespiradic Notes

Middle Notes – Persimmon Fruits, Marine Notes

Base Notes – Cedar, Patchouli, White Musk, Rock Rose

Best season to wear – Spring/Summer
Scent type – Citrus, Fresh, Aromatic
Age Recommendation – 21+
Best Worn – Day wear, evening, office, casual, smart.

Best Of The Menswear Summer Sales – 10 Picks From House Of Fraser

The Best Menswear in the House of Fraser Summer Sale

House of Fraser has an amazing sale on at the moment, possibly the best I have come across while searching for the best menswear bargains. Here are 10 of the best items I have found for this summer, a mix of absolute bargains and summer must have fashion.

You can never have too many T Shirts, and I have picked out a couple which I think are really nice. The Mango IBZ tee is perfect if you’re heading over to the white isle, or if you just love the place or the music scene. You can get this for only £12.99 hereArmani Jeans is one of my favourite brands, so getting a printed logo t-shirt is always on the list when searching for tees. Get this one for only £38.50 here.

If you want a smarter look and prefer shirts, I have picked out two. Both are long sleeves, so are versatile and can be worn with the sleeves down when it’s cool, or when it’s warmer you can roll up the sleeves and create more of an edgy look than a usual short sleeve shirt would give. The red checks shirt is from Armani Jeans and I really like the design, the colours go very well and will create a smart casual look. It’s also half price at only £62.50, you can buy it here. The Ted Baker shirt has to be one of the best shirt bargains out there, better than half price at £40, it’s really smart, but roll up the sleeves and undo a button and you create a more casual feel. The shirt is mainly dark blue, but has fine toned pin striping to give it a little depth. Get it here.

I still love denim jackets for this summer, I got a few last summer so I am not really in the market for one personally. However if you are then this dark Armani Jeans one is worth considering. Slightly shorter than bomber length it’s made for the summer. It comes with button fastening which are embellished with the Armani Jeans branding, but other than that it’s a very clean cut jacket, and has 4 pockets. It’s yours for only £120 and you can get it here. If you want something a little smarter then how about the Diesel denim blazer. I love this jacket, the design is really cool and you’ll stand out and look unique in a denim blazer. It’s the bargain of the sale, at only £75 reduced from £250, I saw it on another sale for £125 so you’re really getting a good deal on this jacket. Get it quick here.

If you are in need of jeans then there is a lot of good denim in the sale. I love PRPS and have a few pair, made in Japan I love the quality of them. You can now get the Barracuda jeans for only £107 here. They’re dark wash and come in a straight leg. Get a pair here. The biggest bargain I have found in denim are a pair of straight leg Hugo Boss Green jeans. A smart medium-dark wash with creases to add dimension, they are only £50. Get them here.

It’s probably too warm for knits right now, but when you’re feeling the chill on a summer night and want something more substantial than a t-shirt, this Gant lightweight knit could be perfect. There are lots of colours available, but I really love this raspberry colour. I have a few Gant knits which are similar but a heavier weight, and I love them. At only £45 you can’t go wrong. Grab it here.

If you are heading abroad to sunnier shores and plan on going to the beach or even relaxing by the pool, swim shorts will be required. Calvin Klein have some quick dry shorts in a range of colours which look pretty decent, for this feature I picked out the turquoise colour to keep in with the summer theme. You can get them for only £23.50, so treat yourself to a couple of pair, I recommend a light and a dark pair. Get some here.

That was the Michael 84 edit of the top picks from the House Of Fraser summer sale. To check out the rest of the menswear sale, click here. There are so many bargains and great offers on there, you’ll need to spend a bit of time as there are so many great pieces to browse! 😀

New Black Armani Jeans T-shirt – Plain & Simple

Featuring:

Armani Basic Strech Cotton T-shirt

I love my branded logo and graphic based tees, but for quite a while now I have been wearing more plain, less “in your face” and less branded T-shirts. I like the simplicity and understatement of a good plain T-shirt, as long as they are of good quality. This black T-Shirt from Armani Jeans is exactly that.

There is a tonal embroidered AJ on the front breast, no big deal. It does not shout and scream Armani, but you get the luxurious stretch cotton feel, and since you’re the one wearing it you know it’s from a fashion label synonymous with elegance and quality.

One of the best things about this is that there’s so many ways to wear a black t-shirt. From wearing with an open shirt to an all black look, they’re always stylish and never out of fashion.

Stretch cotton  T-shirts are amazing, you can read about them in my big Guide To Basic White T Shirts, they are fit very well and feel great while wearing them.

Armani Mania By Giorgio Armani Review

Featuring:

Armani Mania Men's Fragrance Review

In 2002 Giorgio Armani released this, Armani Mania. The bottle is a classic no nonsense irregular cylindrical smoked glass bottle with a chunky gun metal grey top. Despite this scent being released over 10 years ago, it can still be purchased today, and is something worth considering.

Back in 2005 was when I first got this EDT, and I fell in love with it. Armani Mania became one of my favourites, and it brings back some great memories. It’s a warm, spicy and woody style of scent, masculine but not too dark and musky. The spicy woody odour is toned down by a floral note which produces an interesting scent, giving the spicy aroma some lightness. The combination of it being not too light and not too musky but still enough to pack that masculine punch gives it a real elegant and sophisticated scent. It’s perfect for a night out in the summer or winter, or when you want to pack a bit more of a punch in a more formal setting.

Best season to wear – All rounder
Scent type – Spicy/Woody/Fresh/Floral
Age Recommendation – 21+
Best Worn – Evening, Daytime, Office, Date Night, Casual

Top Notes – Tangerine Leaves, Saffron

Middle Notes – Cedar, Vetiver

Base Notes – Amber, Musk

What do you think of this Armani fragrance? Let me know, and don’t forget to read through some of the other aftershave reviews to find your perfect scent.

Boxers From This Christmas

Featuring: , ,

boxers-january-2014

As always, I got several pair of boxer shorts this Christmas. I actually forgot to post them up, so here they are. If you are a regular reader of my blog you’ll know that I do love my boxer shorts, and have so many pair! I need to take an updated pic of them all 😀

Here I have some Armani and CK boxers, pretty standard. I also got some from Tokyo Laundry and Gant which I’ve not had before. Both are really good, but I do have a love affair with Gant, shirts, knits and now I can add boxer shorts to that list too.

New Jeans From The Fenwick Sale

Featuring: ,

I have been in need of some nice new “going out” smarter jeans for a while, so this Christmas I decided on getting a good few pair to last me for a long time. I have loved denim for about 9 years, but before that I absolutely hated it, and if you told me at 19 years of age I would be buying premium denim, I would have laughed at you!

My hate of denim could be because it was really uncomfortable, the harsh cheap horrible jeans are no fun as a kid, sitting at school with your legs crossed, playing football, running a muck in general, jeans are no good for these things. Thankfully I did grow up!

Fenwick sale is always pretty special, and I do go most years. For the past couple of years I have gone for a Gant shirt or a knit, but this year I tried to stay away from the temptation (although I did look!) and focus on the jeans.

I ended up with three pair; PRPS, Armani Jeans and Boss Orange.

boss-orange-jeans-dec-2013

I have a pair of Hugo Boss jeans and they are pretty good. These are a nice dark colour which I prefer, and are a soft denim.

armani-jeans-dec-2013

Armani Jeans are some of my favourite jeans. I have no idea how many pair I have had over the years, but it’s a hell of a lot. They are well made, and are worthy of the name Armani. These have a blue trim, with the newer logo embellished on the back pocket.

prps-jeans-dec-2013-2 prps-jeans-dec-2013

PRPS, a denim brand well known for it’s high end jeans made from Japanese denim. I did not know Fenwick stocked these, but they do! They had 2 pair I really loved, this is one of them, made with Selvedge premium denim.

This Week’s Fashion Edit – Michael:84 Issue No.3

Featuring: ,

editboard-michael84-12-december-2013

Issue No.3 for this week’s fashion edit is here! With a focus on printed tees and check shirts, it features brands such as Moschino, ASOS, Armani Jeans, River Island and Ralph Lauren.

  • Armani Jeans printed tee – £60
  • River Island shirt in buffalo print with black and blue colour – £25
  • Ralph Lauren check shirt, red and black checks – £110
  • ASOS buffalo print shirt, green and blue checks – £28
  • I Love Sushi Moschino t-shirt – £88
  • Ice Cream T Shirt – £75
  • Armani Jeans sweatshirt – £125

The stand out item is the all over printed tee from Ice Cream. I love the colour, detail and quality of this Ice Cream tee. It’s not the most sought after street wear brand as it once was back in 2005-07, with a lot more stores stocking the lower end lines, but this design is premium and will give your look some individuality.

New Giorgio Armani Sunglasses For Summer ’13

Featuring:

giorgio-armani-sunglasses-1

I have wanted a pair of Ray Ban Caravans for a long while, over a year, but I have always put off the purchase. I already have 2 pairs of Ray Bans; The wayfarers and aviators. I don’t usually like having too much from one brand, I like to have different labels because they all have their own take on fashion and style.

I was looking at the sunglasses and found these; Quite similar to Ray Ban Caravan in terms of the lens style, but not exactly. I tried them and liked them, so went ahead and got a pair. We are apparently getting sun and hot weather in the coming days, so they will get their use, I already used them today and they’re good 🙂

They are Giorgio Armani, and I think they are pretty good. The lenses are very clear, the arms feel really strong even though they look quite thin and flimsy. The shades come in a soft leather case which is really, really soft, and you get a certificate of authenticity along with the cloth for cleaning.

Bvlgari MAN And Armani Code EDT: Large Bottles

Featuring:

armanicode-bulgariman-jan2013

I did get some brand new EDT’s and fragrances for Christmas, but I wanted to get some old favourites, but not any old bottles, I wanted the large bottles.

I usually buy 50ml bottles, and I have loads of them, I actually don’t know the number since I got new ones, but its somewhere more than 50. Since I have so many, and I wear different ones, I rarely run out of the same one, even my favourites. I recently bought a large Gucci by Gucci 100ml bottle, and have decided that I will buy my favourites in the larger bottles, to ensure I don’t run out.

Bvlgari MAN is one of my favourites, and I got it a couple of years ago, more or less when it was released. It’s such a really nice smell, and even though I have half a bottle left, I decided to get a large 100ml bottle.

I got Armani Code in about 2005 and loved it. It’s a real evening kind of smell, and when I smell it, it reminds me of going out, probably because I did wear this a lot 😀 It’s one of the few bottles I have which I actually ran out of, and I had not bought a new bottle, so have not had it since about 2007. I never ever got around to buying it again, since I wanted to try new scents, I love it but there are loads more out there. So, years later, I decided that I would re-live the past and get a bottle. Armani Code comes in an even bigger bottle, this is their biggest and is 125ml.

Large bottles do not come cheap, not for these anyway. the 100ml Bvlgari MAN was £58 and the Armani Code 125ml was £65. The girl on the counter said I had expensive taste 😉

Fenwick Newcastle Sale Purchases

Featuring: ,

One of the best stores in Newcastle is Fenwick. I love the place, it’s the home to brands such as Armani Jeans, Paul Smith, All Saints, Hugo Boss, Jaeger and more. There sales are always pretty good too, so yesterday I went and checked it out, a bit late I know, but they still had lots of great fashion on offer.

armanijeans-january2013

I do love Armani Jeans and have done for a long time, but have not bought any for a while. I found these which I really like. simple, stylish and contemporary with a great feel. These were £75.

armanijeans-bluetee-january2013

Bargain of the sales of any store! Something else from Armani Jeans, this blue tee. I love the colour, I have had a few t-shirts in the same colour in the past. With the “A” logo printed on the base but still a pretty contemporary design. The great thing about AJ is that the collections are pretty timeless, so they make a good purchase at any time. This was £55 and was marked down to… £16.50!! Yes, £16.50 for an Armani Jeans t-shirt. Even using this as a base layer or undergarment it would still be a steal.

gantdarkshirt-january2013

My Gant shirt. I do have a bit of a love affair going with Gant. I got a few knits and a shirt from them last year, and this year I have got myself another. The shirts just feel really nice, and I like this design. This shirt was £40 reduced from £90.
