The boys are back…-ish. Yes The Grand Tour is back on Amazon, that is after they said their goodbyes and it was the last time they’ll work together.
That was until last week when a new series dropped on Amazon Prime, The Grand-ish Tour.
I watched the first episode of the 3 part series, and here’s what it’s all about if you thought you saw the last of Clarkson, Hammond and May.
I thought that the ending to The Grand Tour was a good ending, it was the closing of a chapter, and it was all over. Sure I was sad, it was a good show, and for it to not come back again with the three who made it what it was, was sad.
Then out of the blue I saw that there was a new show, The Grand-ish Tour, only, it’s not new.
It’s a “best of” series, which is 3 episodes long and as the name suggests, shows clips of all the previous series which has been shown.
Of course with it being Clarkson, Hammond and May, there is a backstory, and it is quite funny, and not just a few clips thrown together for 90 minutes.
Now they no longer work together and are old, it’s set in an old people’s home. They sit in front of an old CRT TV, and recount The Grand Tour episodes, good and bad with commentary to introduce the clips.
They also make a joke out of why they are back together even though they already said it would never happen…Amazon’s lawyers are better than their lawyers.
Is it good?
Well the obvious answer is that if you enjoyed the series when it was first aired, you’ll like this.
Since it started in 2016 there is tons of stuff I completely forgot happened, like the very first episode.
When I saw them playing back the opening to the very first episode I thought it was a joke, unseen footage, but it turns out I just completely forgot how they opened the series.
In my defence that was 10 years ago.
So it’s good to go back and see all of the best bits, the parts you want to see again, and those that you’ve just forgotten about.
So for TV Series to watch in 2026, this is one of them if you liked watching the previous series.
As with previous series’ it airs on a Friday, with episode 1 last week, episode 2 tomorrow and the final episode next week.
