The Grand Tour: Eurocrash Review – Is It The Best Grand Tour So Far?

Lifestyle
Tuesday, 20th June, 2023

The boys are back yet again for some summer fun with The Grand Tour: Eurocrash.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Clarkson, Hammond and May, but the latest episode of The Grand Tour has finally landed on Amazon.

Is it good? Yep! In fact you could ask the question is this the best Grand Tour Special yet? I think it could be, and here’s why.

Here’s my review of the show and what to expect, all without spoilers…I don’t want to spoil it for you.

The first thing you should know is get yourself a drink, a few drinks, and some snacks.

Why?

This is a long one, and maybe the longest single episode of The Grand Tour there has been so far. It’s 1 hour 46 minutes, but don’t worry, it’s all good. If you’re following the numbers, Amazon are calling this episode 2 of Season 5.

The last time we saw the trio was in A Scandi Flick, a really good show in the Scandinavian arctic. This time round it’s a summer special, which I guess was filmed in 2022, with Jeremy Clarkson mentioning the date 21st June (as it’s the longest day – which will make sense when you watch it).

Releasing it in the summer seems to be a good idea, almost exactly a year after filming.

If you’ve been watching the shows for a long time you’ll know they’ve went pretty much everywhere. They mention this, and so this show is the “Road trip that no-one’s ever thought of doing“. That is a 1400 mile trip from the North of Poland in Gdansk, through Slovakia, Hungry and finishing off in Slovenia.

So even if you don’t like cars but like to travel, this is something you’ll want to watch, the same as the other episodes.

But it wouldn’t be The Grand Tour without cars. Since it was the road trip nobody has done before, MR Willman tasked them to do this one in cars that nobody has thought of doing a road trip in before.

Richard Hammond has a Chevrolet SSR, Jeremy Clarkson has a Mitsuoka Le-Seyde and James May brings a Crosley CC Convertible. There is also a back up car, a Ford Popular Hot Rod which for the first time gets used.

I won’t spoil any more of the show, but Nigel Mansell makes a surprise appearance!

I have to say that this could be the best Grand Tour show there has been. It’s really entertaining and funny, possibly the most I have laughed at show ever. The journey is good and there’s a lot of nice scenery to see. The locations are fantastic and the challenges along the way are really good.

So with all of that said, if you liked the previous episodes you’ll like this one, and if you haven’t seen it you can easily just watch this one. Or better, you get to binge watch every season first.

As always, it’s on Amazon Prime Video right now, and you can see a clip below.

Check out the latest episode, Grand Tour Sand Job out now.
