Euro 2024 Starts Tonight! Retro Germany Goalkeeper Shirt For OOTD

Who’s ready for a summer of football? I am! Euro 2024 starts tonight, and I am really looking forward to it.

The competition is in Germany, and since I have got the Germany Icons Goalkeeper Shirt, I thought what better time to wear it than tonight.

It feels like forever since we last had summer football…We usually go 2 years from the Euros to the World Cup and back to the Euros, but in recent years it’s been different.

The last World Cup was the first one in winter last time round in 2022, and the last Euros, Euro 2020 was actually played in 2021 because of the pandemic, so this one is actually closer than usual.

Still, it’s 3 years since a summer football competition, but all the fun starts now.

For most days in the next 10 or so days there’s 3 matches on TV: So clear your schedules for 14:00, 17:00 and 20:00, those will be the 3 kick off times for the first 2 games in the group stages. It then goes down to 17:00 and 20:00 kick offs.

Of course I support Spain, and will be wearing my Spain shirt for all of the Spain matches. But for the opening game, Germany vs Scotland, I had to wear a shirt to watch the opening ceremony and first match, so I’ve chosen this.

The Adidas Icons Germany 1990 Goalkeeper Shirt is so good. It’s an updated design inspired from the classic goalie shirt which was worn by Bodo Illgner in the 1990 World Cup.

The main differences between this and the original being the Adidas badge is the sportswear badge, the Germany badge rather than West Germany, and a slightly different pattern to the front of the shirt and sleeves.

The spirit of the design is still there, and it looks fantastic. It has some really good retro vibes to it, and it feels like a lot heavier polyester than the current versions of shirts which get released.

Who do you think will win the Euros? I have got to say Spain, but Germany could be a surprise if they can get going.

Happy Euros Day!
