90s Bucket Hats Back In Fashion For 2014 Summer

Monday, 26th May, 2014

bucket hats from the 90s

When I think of bucket hats I think of the 90s, and the horrible looking bucket hats. I can’t remember owning one although I may have done, but I was never much of a fan. It’s been over 14 years since the 90s, but this trend which was hot in the mid-late 90s now seems to be back. It was a strange trend in the 90s which was adopted from people of all fashion worlds; From the Brit Pop rockers like Liam Gallagher to the world of Hip Hop culture, embraced by people like LL Cool J, and as seen on A listers with style such as Samuel L Jackson.

If you did not like them back in the day then I have some bad news for you…They’re back! 😀 That infamous 90s fashion trend has all the corners of the fashion world are coming up with their own designs and variations of the floppy, “you can’t see my eyes”, stay in the shade-like hats. Street wear brands like MISHKA, The Hundreds  and Odd Future all have lines out, as well as fashion labels Topman, Farah Vintage and Ralph Lauren.

Here are some picks which I have found around the internet shops while browsing.

The Best bucket hats in 2014 fashion for this summer

The red Obey floral print is a very summery style, and the bright bold red colour will get you noticed. You should be able to pick it up for around £33

Farah Vintage are doing this dark coloured all over repeat printed bucket, with trademark logo embroidered on it. A more toned down but still eye catching design. Get it for a reasonable £22

MISHKA is a lifestyle or street wear brand, and I love this design, perfect for holidays. It’s a globe/atlas style of print, showing all the places in the world. A cool accessory for a traveller. It will set you back £29

A white and black hat with a safety strap a little like a western style hat, it has al all over print and is light in colour. A little more expensive design from The Hundreds for £43.

If you’re looking for something simple and basic, this black hat from Stussy could be something you would consider. With the trademark logo to the front, it costs £40.

A nautical print design from Odd Future, the design has boats printed on it and is a cool blue/green colour, it costs £38.

What do you think of bucket hats? A good comeback or something that should have stayed in the 90s?
