It feels like I have been getting a lot of football shirts lately. I saw the Adidas Tigres UANL Anniversary shirt a few months ago and loved it.
It went on sale and I thought I missed it, but then new stock arrived, and I was able to get this from Adidas, and I love it.
Here’s what you need to know about the Tigres UANL Anniversary shirt.
Wearing football shirts in the past couple of years has changed.
They’re no longer just for football fans like me. They’ve been turned into lifestyle clothing and streetwear, and are very much on trend right now.
When the World Cup was on, I really got into watching Mexico. They were a host nation, and I love the culture and style which is all about colour and passion.
So with that said, when I saw the Tigres shirt I really loved everything about it, so decided on getting it to add to my collection.
Tigres UANL Anniversary Shirt Design
The Tigres UANL Anniversary shirt design is inspired from the late 70’s shirts, such as the 1978-79 shirt in which they won the league in Mexico.
First of all the design is brilliant. I have to talk about the colours first.
The traditional colours of Tigres are yellow and blue, and they’ve been used beautifully here.
The golden yellow is vibrant and bold, and combined with the blue complimenting the yellow well.
The branding to the front has the traditional Tigres band in blue with the text in yellow, in-keeping with the usual design of the shirt.
The badges used keep the retro theme of the shirt, with an Adidas trefoil and Tigres badge which they used from 1974-1996.
It stands out a mile, and even though it’s bold, it still feels like quite a clean design.
It has a tonal pattern within the shirt too, which just gives it that extra design look, rather than it being a solid yellow colour.
The Adidas three stripes are blue pipped with white. They come all the way down the sleeves, to the ripped sleeve cuffs which are while trimmed with blue.
The final touch of detailing is the Adidas official garment patch on the side at the bottom of the shirt.
They’ve used this in so many 90’s shirts, including the Spain and Newcastle shirts I have.
It features the Tigres badges of the past, as well as the Adidas trefoil in the middle with Tigres named branding.
Tigres UANL Anniversary Shirt Quality & Fit
The quality of the shirt is very good, and so is the fit. One of my favourite parts of the shirt is the collar and cuffs of the shirt.
It has a polo collar, which means you can wear the collar up. This is really cool, and a nod to football shirts of the past, where many shirts had a collar.
You can really feel the quality in these parts, which are ribbed and slightly elastic which gives the shirt a more fitted type of feel.
With that said, the fitting of the shirt is a regular, similar to of the time. Neither slim or oversized, just a perfect fit.
On That Note
Overall I love this shirt. I was really excited to get it, and happy to have it.
I really like owning and wearing more unusual football shirts that you don’t usually see on the streets. Shirts with good design, culture and history.
The Tigres UANL Anniversary shirt is one of them.
