I got myself a brand new everyday winter coat! I was searching for a while, reading and checking out different options. In the end I went for the Uniqlo Seamless Down Parka.
I’ve been wearing it for a week or so and really like it.
Is it warm? Is it a good investment? Here’s everything you need to know about this affordable parka jacket.
When the temperature is sub zero and I really need to keep as warm as possible, my go to jacket is always going to be my Canada Goose. But I don’t wear this every day.
When it comes to winter coats, I like to have 3 options: Something for super cold weather, a big coat. Something smart: I have my overcoats for that. An everyday jacket I wear most often.
I have had my Pull & Bear jacket for years, like a seriously long time. It’s seen better days, and it was time to replace it, so I bought the Uniqlo Seamless Down Parka after reading about it.
Uniqlo Seamless Down Parka Details

When it comes to a winter jacket which I wanted, it checks all the boxes. I wanted:
- Something warm
- Short length
- Hood
- Padded
- Sleek and discreet
Uniqlo has a few options, but I went for the parka. This shouldn’t be confused with what they call their jacket, which is the same but without the hood. They also do a longer length version which they call a coat, but it was the parka I went for.
OK so first off it’s windproof and water repellent, always good things to have in the winter. They say that it has a fill power of 750+ made up of premium down and feathers, and I can say it’s warm, but more on that later.
It has a hood which is a must for me, zipped side pockets and some internal pockets with button closures which is an added bonus for me.
Is The Uniqlo Seamless Down Parka Warm?

I have worn this outside a bunch of times now, on walks and in and around the city. I can honestly say I am impressed, and it is indeed very warm.
What threw me off when I first opened it was the weight. It’s so lightweight you wouldn’t think it was going to be very warm at all.
In comparison to my other winter coats, it’s probably half the weight of the Pull & Bear, which really does make you wonder, is this going to be warm enough? But it certainly is.
The Hood

I have to talk about the hood. It’s quite large at the front, in that it can kind of go over the front of your face just a little bit.
When I put the coat on it’s almost as if the hood wants to be on your head. When you don’t have it up, it can kind of look a bit messy, with it sticking up a bit at the back.
It doesn’t really seem to ‘fold’ backwards and lay flat.
Something great about the hood is the cushioned collar. It has this cushioned collar which goes around the back of your neck seamlessly and hugs it tight, keeping your neck warm.
This is a really good feature, and when you try it you’ll love it.
Other Details: Pockets, Zips, Sleeves

Another great feature I love are the sleeves. The sleeves are cuffed on the inside, keeping the jacket close to your arms and not letting in any cold.
The pockets are another good feature. Not only are they zipped, they are lined with brushed fabric, giving them a really soft plush feeling when you put your hands in.
The front zipper goes all the way up, and makes it almost like a funnel neck. Once again this does a really good job at keeping the cold out, even up to your chin.
Will It Last?

The ultimate question is will this jacket last. That’s something which will take a long time to figure out.
The polyester material does feel thin on the surface, so it could be a worry of it tearing, but time will tell on that one.
I will write an update on this jacket in a year, and probably another in a few years to see if it still holds up.
Is The Uniqlo Seamless Down Parka Worth It?

I managed to get my Uniqlo Seamless Down Parka in a Black Friday deal, and they’re currently £129.90 at Uniqlo.
For the money, this jacket is worth it. For just over £100 you can get a winter coat which is warm, windproof and rain resistant that also looks good.
It keeps me really warm, and will hopefully continue to do so for a number of years.
