OnePlus Nord Released Today: A Good Mid-Range Smartphone

Tech Blog
Tuesday, 4th August, 2020

The OnePlus Nord phone has been released today.

Another entry into the mid range smartphone eco-system, the Nord is a pretty incredible phone to look at.

Here’s what to expect from the Nord, including the price in the UK.

As you’ll already know, the OnePlus Nord was released today in the UK, Tuesday 4th August 2020. OnePlus have been releasing some really great devices in recent years, with their flagships getting better and better, but prices have been on the rise too.

Now steps in the OnePlus Nord, a phone which promises a lot at a more friendly price. The OnePlus Nord costs £379, and this is what you get for that money.

OnePlus Nord Specs

  • Snapdragon 765G Processor
  • 6.44″ Screen
  • 90 Hz Fluid AMOLED display
  • 4115mAh Battery
  • Quad Rear Cameras: 48MP OIS Sony IMX586 | 8MP Ultra Wide Camera | 5MP Depth Camera | 2MP Macro Camera
  • Two Front Cameras: 32MP Sony IMX616 Camera | 8MP Ultra Wide Camera
  • 128GB Storage
  • 8GB RAM
  • WARP Charge
  • 5G Ready
  • Oxygen OS 10 / Android

Since the cameras and photos seem to be one of the premier features of smartphones, that’s one thing to judge the phone on. The photos which I have seen look very impressive. There is a nightscape mode which is for taking photos in low light.

The fact that there’s quad cameras on the rear and two on the front, gives it an advantage over the single camera smartphones out there such as the iPhone SE and recently announced Google Pixel 4A. Number of cameras doesn’t necessarily mean quality, but there doesn’t seem to be a shortage of that in this device.

The front also features a wide angle camera, getting more people in the frame. If it’s video you’re after, it does 4K in 60FPS too.

Judging from the videos which I have seen, the display looks great and is buttery soft with swiping, showcasing the 90hz fluid screen.

The charging has to be mentioned, which is now a big thing in smart phones. It has what OnePlus are calling WARP Charge. They say it will give you all day battery in only 30 minutes.

It runs on Oxygen OS, which is a custom OnePlus version of Android which has gained a lot of fans in recent times.

How have I came this far without mentioning the most noticeable feature: The colours. It comes in what they call Gray Onyx, but the stand out colour is Blue Marble. I love this colour!

As mentioned this is available right now, and lots of retailers are carrying this phone. Check it out at OnePlus here.

I hope we see plenty of these out in the wild, it looks like a really good phone. I’m going to look forward to seeing some of the shots everyone takes with the cameras too.
