H&M x Kenzo 2016 – First Sneak Peek

I am no stranger to an H&M collab, the first one which I blogged about was the H&M Versace collaboration where I managed to get a few pieces, and since then there’s been designer collaborations from Marni, Maison Martin Margiela, Isabel Marant, Alexander Wang and Balmain.

The H&M x Kenzo collaboration was announced a few weeks back, and now H&M have teased us with a couple of pictures which includes some of the pieces from the collection. The designs have all the trademarks of Kenzo, with an all over print style, these pieces in a tiger print theme with red and blue.

The whole collection will be available from 3rd November online and in-store, and if the past collaborations are anything to go by, it will sell out very quickly.

Fashion Friday No.11 This Week’s Style Tips

Are you ready for the cold weather? If you haven’t already got your Winter wardrobe sorted out, you should have by now! If you’re in need of some additions, here’s this week’s Fashion Friday which will give you some fashion tips on what’s brand new in the world of men’s fashion lately.

H&M Knit – £30

H&M Velour Sweats – £45

ASOS Cardigan – £32

Mango Leather Jacket – £169

Ted Baker Shirt – £89

Topman Roll Neck – £25

Hugo Boss Cardigan – £129

Nudie Jeans Black Out – £115

Brand new for AW15 at H&M is this jumper in a mohair blend, with a zig-zag jacquard pattern. It comes in dark blue and brown colour, which is great for this season. At only £30, it’s got to be worth considering if you’re looking to add to your jumper collection.

The cold nights are here, and I saw these sweats from H&M and they look so warm! I have never had a velour top or bottoms before, and some may even cringe at them, but they are so soft and comfortable, and just the thing to wear while sitting back and watching a good film in the winter. You can buy these separately, but for the pair they come in at £45.

I love the colour of this cardigan from ASOS, it really is the colour for Autumn. The quality is good, it’s 100% merino wool, so for £32 this is a good deal. It’s a sandy brow colour, and is a great item for layering.

Get into leather with the Mango leather jacket. The brown colour is something different to the usual black, and will work with a number of looks, and keep you looking cool but staying warm this season. At £169 it’s a good price if you’re starting out in leather.

The party season is upon us, so having a really good white shirt is something you should have, and you probably already have. If you’re looking for a new one, and fancy spending a bit, this white option from Ted Baker looks really good. I have a few Ted Baker shirts and I love the feel and fit of them, with the patterned interior cuffs and collar adding some distinctive detailing.

Roll necks are back, so if you want to get in on the fashion without spending a lot Topman has you sorted with a stone marl roll neck. It’s a good colour for layering, and at £25 it’s a bargain.

Up your knitwear game with a more premium brand of cardigan, this one from Hugo Boss. Made from virgin wool it’s a slim fit for a modern look. It’s a great price at £139, and is available in staple colours black, grey and blue, as well as a more fashion forward dark green.

Finally are a pair of jeans from Nudie Jeans. I love the Grim Tim fit, and a black pair of jeans are a must have in any man’s wardrobe, especially in this weather. They’re a soft denim with a slight worn in look, come with a button fly and a bit of stretch. For £115, you should consider these if you’re looking at getting some premium denim for a not so premium price.

I hope you have enjoyed looking at my Fashion Friday this week, as ever you can check out all my men’s fashion advice for the best menswear. You can see what I picked out last time round here, and as always you can send me your tips on Twitter @Michael84Blog

Selvedge Jeans From H&M Review

I love good quality denim.

I’ve bought a lot of high end jeans from high end fashion houses such as Balenciaga and Dior, to denim brands such as PRPS, Nudie Jeans and True Religion, and how can I forget Evisu, who use premium Japanese denim in most, if not all their jeans.

Good denim is well worth the money, from the fit to the finishing, you can tell the difference in a good pair of denim. If you’re a regular reader then you’ll remember I got a pair of Nudie Jeans Selvedge denim which are fantastic, and fast becoming one of my favourite pairs of denim I own.

Fashion Friday Edit No.10 – Style Tips

Featuring: , ,

Welcome to this week’s Fashion Friday! This week’s edit features some great style if you’re looking to freshen up your wardrobe for the winter with a few pieces, and are perfect for the party season which is upon us. Check out some of the men’s fashion tips for this week below, all available to buy right now.

H&M Shirt – £8 – here

H&M Merino Wool Knit – £25 – here

Jaeger Jacket – £125 – here

John Smedley Redfree Knit – £139 – here

Burton Montague Blazer – £85 – here

GANT Trunks – £35 – here

First up is this shirt from H&M. I love the all over pattern, but it doesn’t have to be loud. You can tone this down with a knit, cardigan or jacket. The shirt gives off a party edge and will work with a blazer which are coming up.

You can never have too many knits, and H&M have a few great deals. If you’re looking for good knits you want to be looking for 100% wool (or as close as you can get), this one is merino wool which is fine knit and really nice to wear. Wear it with a shirt underneath for a perfect match.

This Jaeger jacket is currently on sale, and for a 100% wool jacket is a good price. It’s a charcoal colour which is very versatile and less ‘cold’ than black, and will work well with the shirt seen here, other shirts or knits.

We’re in jumper season but they don’t all have to be plain. I really love this stripe knit from John Smedley. It’s made in Great Britain and is 100% cotton, so pairing this with a blazer and shirt will keep you warm without making you stuffy.

A blazer is a good option for party season, so if you’re planning an outfit for an office party this could be an option. It’s a flecked blue jacket from Burton. A 100% wool option for £85 with blue tipped lapels, it’s part of the Montague range.

That’s a wrap for this week’s Fashion Friday 🙂 I hope you’ve enjoyed these pieces. As always you can get a reminder of last week’s fashion Friday edit here, and if you have any tips for me you can reach out to me on Twitter at @Michael84Blog

Men’s Style Tips – Friday Fashion Edit No.6

Featuring: , ,

It’s that time of the week again! If you’ve been waiting for some men’s fashion advice ready for a weekend of shopping or just casual browsing, I have a few really nice picks for you. It’s been Autumn for a while, or it’s at least felt like it, but it was officially the Autumn Equinox on Wednesday, so we’re officially into Autumn. Here’s what I have been loving this week.

Farah Shirt – £55

Edwin Classic Sweatshirt £65

Jack Wills Hooded Sweat – £60

TOMS Chukka Boots – £79.99

Cheap Monday Black Jeans – £55

Reiss Suede Jacket – £375

H&M Quilted Suede Jacket – £150

ASOS Gingham Shirt – £20

First up I am going to start with this shirt from Farah. I really like blue for this season, navy or something a little lighter but not too light, it’s a great colour to layer and although it’s a fairly dark colour it will brighten up a black or dark grey jacket. This model is the Brewer slim fit shirt, and comes with contrasting white buttons which I love. A reasonable £55, button down collar and minimal branding.

I have always been fond of Japanese fashion and labels, they are always high quality and sought after. Edwin is a high end label which is highly thought of in the denim world, and have branched out into other areas of clothing, and they’re doing it well. This Edwin classic crew neck sweatshirt is available from The Idle Man, and could be a key piece in your wardrobe, styling it up with a patterned shirt underneath to create a smart-casual look, or keep it relaxed with a plain tee under.

Taken from my Budget Student Fashion For Men Guide I have borrowed this hooded top which comes from Jack Wills. It’s a full-zip up so can double up as a very light jacket on warmer days, just make sure you’re wearing a really nice tee under it.

I came across these Chukka boots from TOMS and really like them. They’re not formal at all, but they are very smart, and a nice break from usual casual kicks from Nike, Adidas, Converse or Vans. They’re black herringbone and look super stylish.

I think black jeans for the winter are really stylish and give your look a minimal feel with a plain black rinse. These Sonic Rinse Black from Cheap Monday look the part, I like the fit which is fashionable slim without being a skinny fit.

A suede jacket is a very desirable fashion item to have for the Autumn season, and this is one of the best I have seen. If you have a big budget of almost £400 it’s a complete no brainer, this Reiss Salamanda suede jacket in stone colour is a must have buy. It will last a good few years as long as you take care of it, and I can’t see this style or neutral colour going out of fashion any time soon.

Another suede jacket is this one from H&M. It’s a diamond quilted jacket, from their premium range. Bomber length and fully lined, it’s a bargain at only £150 and will add Autumnal style to your wardrobe.

And to end this weeks Fashion Friday we come back down to high street pricing with a £20 shirt from ASOS. The blue and white gingham pattern is stylish, and you’ll be able to wear this with a cardigan or knit and show just a little bit of that pattern to create a really smart look with a bit of edge.

I hope you have enjoyed this week’s Fashion Friday. As usual you can send me tips on Twitter here, and be sure to check out last week’s Fashion Friday if you missed it too 🙂

H&M Summer Purchases – Shorts & White Jeans

So I was having a look around for some shorts for this summer, and after a good look around I found a couple of pair at H&M. I do not usually like spending a lot of money on shorts, primarily because I hardly wear them, so I don’t want to spend fortunes on a lot of pairs of shorts.

I think that sweat shorts are big this summer, and I have been looking at getting a couple of pair. H&M have some really good ones, so I went and had a look, and bought a few pair. They are good quality and a good fit, and they come in a few different colours. I picked up some summer red, navy, grey and black. I also got a pair of swim shorts with a check pattern which are also good for the summer. The sweat shorts are only £8 a pair, and I think the swim shorts were £15.

I am really into nautical striped T-Shirts for the summer, and I have been looking around for one which I really like. There has been a couple, and I found this one from H&M. It has a chest pocket which is not exactly what I was looking for, but it’s still cool and is what I was looking for…I would also like a one in reverse, i.e. navy with thin white stripes. This was £10.

I now have a few pair of white chinos and jeans, and I saw these for £15 and thought one more pair couldn’t hurt 😛 They are really soft and nice slim fitting, and will work well with the tee I bought and a few other pieces I have. Take a look here to see how I style white jeans.

H&M x Alexander Wang Towels

H&M x Alexander Wang Collab

Do you remember the H&M x Alexander Wang collaboration? It was only last month when everyone was going crazy over it, but as it seems with all these types of collabs, the hype has dyed down and we’re all wondering what the fuss was about. I only really wanted one of the sweatshirts, but in true H&M fashion, the website was virtually impossible to use with everyone wanting their own piece of the collaboration. There were a few things available when I finally got on, but the only thing which I thought was worth getting was the towel set. I got a shower towel and hand towel, and they came in quite a cool mesh bag which I’ll be able to use. Even though this is a shower towel I think it would make a good beach towel, and the bag to go with it too, perfect for keeping the towel, sun lotion and any other beachwear in. For £24.99, it’s a fair price and it will be used 🙂

I can’t complain about not getting the sweatshirt; I have “participated” in the H&M collaborations ‘battle for fashion’ a few times now, and I’ve been lucky enough to get some things from the Versace x H&M collab, the Versace Cruise x H&M collab and the Marni x H&M collab.

What to wear with purple – Lookbook Inspiration

Purple is quite a diverse colour, and depending on the shade you go for will depend on what you want to team it with. Using a contrasting colour is a great idea, and you can even contrast differing purples to create a simple but stylish look. The deep purple shirt will go well with the lighter purple knit, a light grey knit will work for a toned down look but still keep the colour. Black and white are of course the obvious choice when wanting to pair something with a colour, but yellows or greens will also work with purple; Using bright bold colours is not a complete no-no, but this will create a more striking look. For something more toned down, use a combination of pastel colours with bold to complement your outfit.

Here is some inspiration for you.
