Sunglasses Guide: Spring 2013 Edit

Fashion, Men's Grooming
Tuesday, 30th April, 2013

The sun is finally starting to come out in 2013, summer is hopefully on it’s way, so now is the time to start thinking about getting some sunnies in your life.

I have always maintained that you only need two pair of sunglasses in your life. If you are looking at an investment piece, something timeless and forever stylish then there are only two which you can consider, both from Ray Ban. The Wayfarers and the Aviators. Timeless classics, and favourites to almost everyone, they are fashion you can invest in and wear for many summers to come.

Aviators made famous of course by the U.S. navy, not to mention cult films such as Top Gun, and Wayfarers are the rock and roll of sunglasses, and seen in films such as The Blues Brothers.

The model number I have for the Wayfarers is the RB2132, and the model number for the Aviators is RB3025.

Since Ray Ban are a proper sunglasses brand rather than just a fashion brand with a sunglasses line, you can get either style in a vast array of different variations, with different size and colour lenses and frames. The moulded styles of the wayfarers come in a huge number of colours, including limited print colours and styles for that extra individuality.

If you fancy your own pair of Ray Ban sunglasses but these styles are not to your choosing, they do a few other different styles.

Since I already have Aviators and Warfarers my favourite pair for this summer (and last) are the Caravans. They are a similar style to Aviators, however they are more angular and rectangular, but still slightly rounded. The model of these are RB3136. If you prefer a large lens moulded look and like a more rounded but not circular shape then they do these which are called CATS. The above model is RB4126.

Best Of The Rest

If Ray Bans are not your thing and you want to try a different brand, there are a large number which have some great designs out there.

Carrera are another big sunglasses brand, and their flagship model of shades are the pilot shape as they call them, which are pictured above, the Carrera Champion. Dolce And Gabbana and Gucci both have some really nice aviator style shades available this season, in a range of different colours.

Ray Ban (£130), Oakley (£65) & Prada (£230)

Bulgari (£299), Persol (£290) & Polo by Ralph Lauren (£139)
