Provisional Spain Squad For Confederations Cup 2013

Monday, 27th May, 2013

Spain’s provisional 26-man squad for the upcoming Confederations Cup in Brazil has been announced and is as follows:

Casillas (Real Madrid), Reina (Liverpool) & Valdés (Barcelona).

Monreal (Arsenal), Jordi Alba (Barcelona), Albiol (Real Madrid), Piqué (Barcelona), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Azpilicueta (Chelsea) & Arbeloa (Real Madrid).

Iniesta (Barcelona), Cazorla (Arsenal), Busquets (Barcelona), Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid), Xavi Hernández (Barcelona), Javi Martínez (Bayern de Múnich), Javi García (Manchester City) & Beñat (Betis).

Mata (Chelsea), Silva (Manchester City), Cesc Fábregas (Barcelona), Pedro (Barcelona), Jesús Navas (Sevilla), Villa (Barcelona), Fernando Torres (Chelsea), & Soldado (Valencia).

No places for the injured Puyol or Negredo, and it looks like the strongest squad Spain could have put together, so they are taking the competition seriously. Javi Martinez and Fernando Torres have been recalled after previously being dropped. The final squad is 23 man which means 3 of these players will not make it; I would guess at Javi Garcia, Beñat and Azpilicueta.

Spain have 2 friendlies before the Confederations Cup in the USA, taking on Haiti in Miami and then Ireland in New York.
