Iraq 3rd Shirt by Umbro sold out

It’s not the best football team in the world, or the most followed. Like most football fans, I can’t name you any of their players.

Umbro launched the Iraq 3rd shirt a while back, but it’s now hit the mainstream online stores including at Umbro.

But there is some bad news, it’s already sold out. And you can see why!

Football shirts in recent years have become fashionable again. Not only fashionable, but really cool. They’ve been adopted by the streetwear generation, and now people who have no interest in football really want to buy and wear the most sought after shirts.

In the last World Cup this was demonstrated with the Nigeria shirt. A popular team in Africa and parts of Europe, the home shirt came with an epic design from Nike, and instantly sold out.

Nigeria is one thing, they have a track record at World Cups, and recognisable players from European leagues. But Iraq has never done anything in the football world.

But those who love a good football shirt simply don’t care about the calibre of the team. In fact for some, the more obscure the better.

I am no stranger to having shirts from from all over the world. From both good and bad teams and nations. The likes of the Costa Rica national team, CSKA Moscow and Cluj are some of my more bizarre football shirts.

I have to say I really do like this Iraq 3rd shirt. Black shirts in general are usually really nice, and this one is no different. It has a tonal pattern design built into the shirt which looks really good, and the gold detailing is set off nicely in the shirt.

According to Umbro, they say:

This new look for 21/22 is inspired by ancient Mesopotamian symbols that have represented this culture for thousands of years. Mesopotamia is the world’s oldest recorded civilization and is situated within the Tigris–Euphrates river system. Present day Iraq emerged from this area which is often referred to as the “cradle of civilisation”.

All I can say is that I really do like this shirt. It’s strange liking a shirt from a team I’ve never seen playing (and probably never will), but it’s all about the shirt design, rather than the team in this case.

If you can get your hands on this sold out jersey, you should expect to pay £55 (That’s rrp). But you can imagine resellers trying to get a lot more for this now coveted shirt.

Let me know what you think of the Iraq 3rd shirt.
