Film Night – Boyhood

Boyhood film review

For film night last week I watched Boyhood, and it is excellent! It’s directed by Richard Linklater, who’s directed some of my favourite films such as Dazed And Confused, as well as the Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight films. The great thing about those films was the sequels were not planned, but they came about 9 years later, and the last one 9 years after that; So from the first to the last took 18 years to get to.

Boyhood takes a similar journey, but it was a planned one. The film has been created over 12 years, using the same cast. It’s sounds like such an ambitious project, and it’s worked brilliantly. The film is a coming of age film which is actually filmed in real time, and centres around a boy and his family, and him growing up. It goes through all the stages of a boy’s life with his family, from school all the way to college.

It’s such a good film to watch, I highly recommend you getting this, relaxing and watching this.

  1. Andii Said,

On reading about this film I loved the idea and ambition of the project. The end result did not disappoint. It was a great idea that was very well executed, engaging and entertaining.
