Waremakers Products

As you know if you’re a regular reader of the blog, I love things which are high quality and carefully made. I love companies which produce products that have high craftsmanship, and you can really appreciate the work which has gone into making each individual item. While I think there’s always a place for inexpensive everyday items, sometimes you want to spend that little bit more on something which is going to last a long time.

Will Jaeger Come Back From Administration?

Monday, 24th April, 2017

It’s a sad time for British fashion, 2 weeks ago Jaeger entered administration, and it’s said that up to 600 jobs could go. Will it be able to be saved?

You’ll know that from reading my blog I have been a fan of Jaeger for quite a while. I have so many shirts and tailored jackets from them, I got not one but two black Jaeger shirts several months ago, and I’ve got lots of knitwear, including some really nice cashmere jumpers from the brand too.

I really like the quality of the clothing, some say it’s not as good as previous, and many of the things aren’t actually made in the UK, but most of the things are of good quality, and easily matches up to what I consider to be it’s main competitors, which are Thomas Pink, Reiss and Ted Baker, especially for shirts. I always call this kind of clothing premium high street, as it’s usually quite a bit more than high street, especially now with fast fashion and the likes of Primark, H&M and the like, but less expensive than the higher end designer labels such as Burberry. However Jaeger used to see itself as that higher end label, but not as high as something you’d expect to find on Savile Row.

Jaeger has already been bought in 2012, and it went through some changes, most notionally the logo, which I actually don’t like, and much prefer the older, more traditional graphic.

Hopefully they will come up with a strategy which will work for the business as well as producing some great clothing.

LFWM – London Fashion Week Men’s 17

It was the first London Fashion Week Men’s…Actually, it’s a rebrand of the London Collection: Men’s aka LCM:Men’s which was opened by TOPMAN Design who showcased their collection which looked very 90’s inspired with bright bold neon prints and models who looked like they were from the Brit Pop era. Tinie Tempah debuted his What We Wear collection, and established designers were out in force, including Vivienne Westwood, Lou Dalton, Belstaff, Agi & Sam x Woolmark collaboration, J.W. Anderson, Kent & Curwen, Oliver Spencer and a whole load more.

It was also time for Pitti Uomo, where we saw Tommy Hilfiger for the first time at the Florence show. Plenty of great pieces were seen, including a very nice trademark woollen jumper.

That’s just a couple of the things which I’ve noticed in fashion this week. If you have any other news or would like to contribute something, please let me know in the comments 🙂

Canada Goose Opens First Flagship Store In Toronto, NYC To Follow

Wednesday, 19th October, 2016

Getting an authentic Canada Goose has not always been the easiest of tasks, with not too many retailers stocking them for one reason or another. I remember searching for one for a long time 6 years ago before I was finally able to find one. That’s going to be a whole lot easier, at least if you live in it’s hometown of Toronto. The first ever Canada Goose store was opened today, in the Yorkdale centre in Toronto, Canada.

The space looks brilliant! Very modern, stylish and high end, and you’d expect nothing less from one of the most luxurious clothing brands for Winter and arctic clothing. If you’re In New York city you’ll be able to buy your wears from an official store too, with Canada Goose NYC getting a flagship store set to open on 17th November in SoHo.

Will the UK be next?

Marks And Spencer Premium Selvedge Jeans

Friday, 16th September, 2016

Marks And Spencer have introduced a line of premium selvedge denim jeans to their fashion line up for this season. If you’ve read my 5 pairs of denim you should own guide, you’ll know that I love selvedge denim, and it’s a type of denim which is quite coveted, and popular among denim connoisseurs.

The range is new for AW16 and is made from premium fabrics from mills in United States, Japan and Italy, all three noted for their high quality fabrics and workmanship. The range come in a couple of washes, including a light mid-blue wash, and my two favourites, dark indigo and black, as well as two fits; Slim and straight leg.

The selvedge detailing can be found on the inseam of the leg as you would expect, with more selvedge detailing on the front pocket. On the inside of the jeans you’ll find where the jeans were made, as the countries flag is printed on the inside.

You can pick up a pair of these for £60 from M&S and join the selvedge club, or add a pair to your collection.

Check out more of the jeans below.

Reebok Club C 85 Vintage Suede Trainers

Tuesday, 13th September, 2016

After Reebok brought back it’s classic and much love Classics collection from the 90’s, they brought back a special pastel edition of the C85 trainers, and now comes the Club C 85 Vintage suede trainers, complete with the gum sole.

The popular silhouettes come in three different colours; Navy Black, and grey with the typical Reebok styling which brings back the 90’s vibes. My personal favourite from the line-up are the black pair, which will work well with any outfit and keep your look understated. Designed for indoors, you can wear these out with your Autumn look. If you’re on the hunt for some 90’s style and like a pair of suede footwear, these have got to be worth a look.

They’re £65 and available at various retailers for £65.

What do you think of these from Reebok?

H&M x Kenzo 2016 – First Sneak Peek

Wednesday, 27th July, 2016

I am no stranger to an H&M collab, the first one which I blogged about was the H&M Versace collaboration where I managed to get a few pieces, and since then there’s been designer collaborations from Marni, Maison Martin Margiela, Isabel Marant, Alexander Wang and Balmain.

The H&M x Kenzo collaboration was announced a few weeks back, and now H&M have teased us with a couple of pictures which includes some of the pieces from the collection. The designs have all the trademarks of Kenzo, with an all over print style, these pieces in a tiger print theme with red and blue.

The whole collection will be available from 3rd November online and in-store, and if the past collaborations are anything to go by, it will sell out very quickly.

Nudie Jeans Ecru For Summer 2016

Friday, 22nd April, 2016

Ecru Selvedge denim from Nudie Jeans

I really love white jeans and light denim for summer. I have posted plenty on the blog about them over the years, and written ideas for wearing white jeans or light coloured denim.

It’s a trend which I have really taken to, and it was quite brave with many guys not going for that style. But in the last year or two, it’s became more mainstream and more and more men are embracing white and off-white colour denim and incorporating that into their daily outfits or wardrobe for going out.

Nudie Jeans is a brand I feature a lot on Michael 84, because I love pretty much everything about them. For Summer 2016 they’ve released a small collection of Ecru denim, which includes four different styles of jeans, including my favourite Selvedge denim which they’re doing in there Grim Tim fit which I can tell you is really nice.

Alongside the jeans, they’ve got an Ecru denim jacket too, the Billy which is made from dry twill and will brighten up any outfit.

As with everything Nudie Jeans, they’re well made and ethically done, with the Selvedge jeans being Made In Italy. These jeans come in at £185, with the jacket being £115.

Both of these are available now from Nudie Jeans.

Reebok Club C 85 Pastel Colours For Spring

Wednesday, 20th April, 2016

Reebok have released their classic Club C 85 trainer silhouette in some pastel colours for this Spring.

The colours included are a blue, green and another colour which looks to be a red/pink style of colour, all three perfect for Spring. They look to have a lot of support and made of quality materials, I really like the sage green colour which I think will work with a lot of outfits for the Spring going forward into Summer. They were designed for tennis, but will look good even if you’re not on centre court.

If you’re looking to add some colour to your footwear for the season ahead then these are worth checking out. Reebok and their classic trainers have been making a comeback in recent times, so you’ll be on trend with the brand.

What do we think of these?

Tommy Jeans 90’s Style Is Back – Capsule Collection

Tuesday, 19th April, 2016

Tommy Jeans 90's Capsule Collection

Remember that Tommy Hilfiger logo? If you were a child of the 90’s like me, you’ll remember that distinctive Tommy Hilfiger flag logo which was synonymous with the brand back in the good old days of the 90’s. As you’ll know if you’re a regular reader, I love that 90’s fashion is back (check my 90s fashion tips) and Tommy Hilfiger was one of the major brands back then.

A few brands have been doing re-releases and re-branding, going back to the 90’s, such as Calvin Klein, French Connection, Ellesse and Kappa, Tommy Jeans is the latest label to be making a very fashionable comeback, fashionably late of course 😉

The collection comprises of flag sweatshirts in a couple of colours, available for £90, as well as a couple of tees in a few colours, costing £40. The capsule collection is finished with a denim jacket with trademark logo to the back, costing £150.

The T-shirts are well worth a look at, if you’re into 90’s or street style these will go down well and be a nice little addition to your wardrobe, or if you’re thinking ahead to the Autumn/Winter, the sweatshirts look really good.
