Châteauneuf-du-Pape – Thoughts

Châteauneuf-du-Pape review

Since I am now an old man I have been getting into red wine a little bit. I’ve had a few bottles of Brunello which I really enjoyed, and for my next bottle I decided to try a bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, since people talk about it all the time.

I am not a wine connoisseur, and so know nothing about wine, I just know what I like 🙂 This was pretty nice, but nothing like Brunello. Brunello has a rich, fruity taste and scent, and this really doesn’t in comparison. It’s quite a sourer smell, and seems to take a bit of time to warm up. Don’t get me wrong, it was quite nice, better than some cheap rubbish I have tasted, but since I’ve had a couple of bottles of Brunello that is like my “standard” red wine, and I love it. I think that Châteauneuf-du-Pape is pretty decent, it’s certainly drinkable, but when I go for my next bottle of red wine I’ll be giving it a miss.

I’ll be sticking to my Brunello from now on 😛

It’s not bad, but I prefer Brunello myself 🙂
