Fashion Friday No.13 – Best Menswear This Week

So here we are, back for another Fashion Friday! Autumn is definitely kicking in, the dark nights are coming fast, and it’s definitely getting much, colder! ūüôĀ Both of these things are bad, but the good part about Autumn is the clothing choices available. Layering is always good, and I can bring out my knits once again for what will most probably be daily wear. For scents to warm things up you can check out the best fragrances for Autumn, but here are my favourite brand new menswear for the week.

I featured the H&M Modern Essentials AW16 on the blog a few weeks ago, and I have selected the stripe wool blend sweatshirt from the collection. My other picks from H&M are the merino wool polo neck jumper in dark grey, along with a blue long sleeve T-shirt. I really love the colour of both of these pieces, the tee brightens up any look, and the grey jumper is a classic piece for any wardrobe for the Autumn.

The Ario knit from Minimum is 100% wool and a really warm chunky type of jumper which looks like it will hold up well in the colder Autumn days and nights to come. I really love the colour for Autumn, it will also transcend into other seasons since the colour is neutral. It’s ¬£100 here. The sonjay bomber jacket is made of polyester so should do well in the rain, and being black will stand up to most things which looking ever stylish. I love the diamond quilted pattern, and it’s yours for ¬£100 here. Last up from Minimum is the tahi shirt, and it’s a good one. 100% Cotton, it’s a check shirt with blue and white checks in a buffalo print style which is something I’ve always loved. The fit looks pretty good, and the white buttons stand out in the design. You can get this for ¬£55 here.

The Seaton shirt is from the Tailored by Solid line and it’s such a great navy blue colour which I’d probably say is almost midnight blue. The contrasting white buttons really stand out which sets off the dark colour. Get it for ¬£50 here. If you’re in need of a cardigan the Dorsk from Tiger of Sweden could be a good option. It’s a zip up rather than the traditional button up, and is made from merino wool. Get it here for ¬£150. Finally another bomber jacket, this one from GANT and is called the Loft. It’s 100% polyester and lightweight but has plenty of insulation to keep you warm. You can get it for ¬£200 here.

From TOPMAN I have picked out this black premium duck down bomber from the LTD collection. It’s warm and could be your next Autumn/Winter coat, with premium features such as real duck down, it’s at a really good price for only ¬£100 here. It is the season for bomber jackets, so here is another from TOPMAN. It comes in black complete with zip up and made from 100% cotton and will work with anything from your wardrobe. Get it for only ¬£25 here. Last up is this sweatshirt, and I love the mint colour for this season. You can pair it with the bomber jacket or another staple colour and it will work. Get it for ¬£35 here.

That’s your lot for this weeks Fashion Friday! As always if you see anything shout me on Twitter at @Michael84Blog and let me know, and you can read more of my men’s style tips over here for ideas on what to pair with these for Autumn.

Suede Jackets For Autumn – This Season’s Trend

michael84-mens-fashion-suede-jacket-jofama-7

As you’ll have read in my Spring Suede Jackets guide, I love a good soft leather jacket. They’re not only perfect for Spring, but they’re a great style of jacket to wear in the Autumn too. As you’ll know, suede is a type of leather which has a napped finish, with lamb and goat most commonly used, with calf and even deer also being used. The jackets are usually pretty tough and thick, which means wearing one of these in the¬†Autumn is a really good go to piece, with a lot of styles and colours now available.¬†The enemy of suede is rain and water, although you can get suede protectors which will do a good job if you get¬†caught out in the rain.

As with every piece of clothing, there’s plenty of choice at all different price-points. Typically with leather jackets, a genuine suede jacket will start at around ¬£100, and¬†from there goes upwards to whatever your wallet can afford! Grab a high street label such as Mango or Topman for under ¬£150, premium high street brands such as Reiss or Ted Baker will come in at ¬£200 – ¬£400, and luxury and designer brands like Burberry and Tom Ford will run into the thousands.

A suede jacket can be looked at as a good investment, and should last you plenty of Autumn and mild Winters to come, providing you look after it well enough. They’re timeless, so you don’t have to worry about them going out of style,¬†one¬†to your wardrobe or expanding it with a different colour or style is something to consider.

Here’s over 30 of the best suede jackets for this season, from the high street and luxury brands, there’s something for everyone’s budget.

Autumn/Winter Fashion – Out With The Tees, In With The Knitwear

summer2013-tshirts-out

Autumn has well and truly arrived, and it’s brought horrible winter weather with it. It’s time to change around the wardrobe which means out with most of the t-shirts, and in with warm jumpers, chunky knits and smarter fashionable knitwear for winter nights out.

I do actually like Autumn parts of fashion, the same way as I like spring; You can wear more and mix things up more, rather than in summer when it’s too hot for jackets, or the coldest winter days where you have to be dressed in so many layers just to stay warm.

Four of my favourite knits; 100% cashmere from Jaeger, a cashmere blend from Jaeger, a blue Gant knit and black one from Tiger Of Sweden.

Back To School Fashion Tips & Trends For 2013 – Jeans

It’s another back to school fashion guide! It’s September so that means one thing, back to school, college or uni for those who are getting an education. Get the first day of term right with the perfect outfit. This post is dedicated to jeans, a good pair of jeans goes a long way. Buying a nice, comfortable, stylish and sturdy pair can last you quite a while, and getting something contemporary will¬†ensure that they are timeless.

When it comes to denim, paying a little bit extra does go a long way. Jeans are always in style, they are a very versatile part of any wardrobe and buying a good pair will last a long time. When paying a lot of money for jeans you should look at it as an investment; A high end fashion label t-shirt will be cool for a while, but not forever.

I believe everyone should own at least one pair of good denim, whether it be to wear on that special occasion, make a formal look more casual or just a piece to add to your wardrobe. You can be fairly confident that buying a simple but stylish pair of jeans will stand the test of time, look good but most importantly feel great.

Fit – My personal favourite fit of jeans are slim or regular fit. They don’t have to be drainpipe skinny style to be fitted, there is a preference in fashion at the moment for this type of style. Leave the flares and the like back in the past.

Wash – I do love darker washes of jeans. They are a smarter cleaner looking style without being too formal, and look good around the house, in town, down the pub or in a club. To add a bit of character and dimension I like the faded and light distressed looks, I would stay clear of acid wash and rough distressed styles to maintain versatility.
