Nike Air Max 90 – All Black, Super Stylish, Minimal

Featuring:

Nike Air Max 90 Trainers

I needed some dark coloured trainers, so the obvious colour is black, and wanted something super smart, but also really comfortable for walking round in for when I am in Reykjavik, if I actually get there! 🙁 . I love my Air Max 1 which I got earlier this year, I love the colour, but they can get dirty easily, and I want something more neutral and dark.

I am back into Nike Air Max, like I was as a kid, and I love these Air Max 90 trainers. They are so minimal, sleek and unnoticeable! I could probably even wear them on a night out and they’d go pretty unnoticed. I still like my Converse, but if you’ve ever walked a lot in Converse you’ll know they aren’t the greatest trainers for walking long distances for long periods of time. Air Max are so comfortable, and these are really smart and stylish. They seem more durable than the Air Max 95 because of the construction, but are still breathable and are slightly narrower than the 95’s.

If I ever need some smart looking trainers for something low key, I have these beauties 🙂

England World Cup 2014 Shirt – Only £90 a pop

Featuring:

why is the england shirt £90

The new England home and away kits were unveiled today, but the talking point was not the shirts, it was the price. If you opt for the match version of either the white home or red away shirt, it will set you back £90 a piece, which is rather expensive, or is it?

The home kit is a throwback to the 70s, and will see England play in all white, rather than with blue shorts. The away kit is a similar story, with an all red affair.

Why the England shirt is £90

If you know your football kits, you’ll know that Nike, similar to Adidas and others, often sell 2 “versions” (and sometimes even 3 versions) of their football shirts. In the past your general football fan has bought a replica football shirt, and that has been that. However what many don’t know is that a replica shirt is not what a player wears on the pitch, it’s a replica i.e. a copy of the shirt the players wear. For quite some time, Nike and others have offered for sale the match shirt along side the replicas, the match shirt selling for a lot more usually. I cannot speak for the Nike shirts, but Adidas, who previously sold their replicas alongside a techfit match version of the shirt, are completely different. The fit is a more fitting slim cut shirt, the badges and anything previously embroidered on the replicas is printed or made from vinyl, this is what the players wear on the field.

I have previously bought the Spain techfit shirts and official match shirts, which have cost more money, but I have chosen to buy them for added authenticity.

Is it worth it?

You can call this a con, rip-off or clever marketing. The £90 match shirts are marketed at the hardcore fans, for the people who want that little bit extra, and are not for every fan. The stadium shirt (aka the replica which most people would usually buy) is RRP £60, but can be had a little cheaper if you shop around. £90 shirts are not exclusive to Nike and England, Adidas have released their Adizero (match shirt) for it’s nations, including Spain, Germany and Argentina, priced at £90 each. I also believe that the £90 match version is only available in adults sizes, so parents cannot complain about buying it for their kids.

My personal opinion is that I am glad that the option is there for fans to buy a match version of a shirt, along side the traditional replica. The bigger problem is the release of shirts, with many teams (especially clubs) bringing out a new top every year instead of every 2 year.

Mind you, buying an England shirt for the World Cup will work out at £30 per match, or £20/hour

My New Nike Air Max 1 For Air Max Day

Featuring:

my new air max one

I am back on the Air Max horse 😀 Today is Air Max Day, and what better way to celebrate it than getting a brand new pair of Air Max. I am taking it back to the beginning, and got the infamous old school and original style, the Air Max 1.

I love my Converse collection, but I have decided that I would mix things up a bit and a pair of Air Max. I have a pair for running, however they are old and tired and are in really bad condition, I only use them for running and have done for a long time. For the past few years I have bought so many pair of Converse, and before that KSWISS, with the odd pair of Adidas in between. Now I have a fresh pair of Air Max, and I love them.

I love this colour, a nice light smart colour which is not too boring and dull, but not overpowering and bright. They come with the customary and iconic air bubble to the side, a classic design.

What do you think? What are your favourite pair of Air Max?

Happy Air Max Day

Featuring:

airmaxday-26-3-airmax1

That’s right, today, 26th March 2014 is officially Air Max Day, and Nike have released this commemorative pair of Air Max 1. Happy 27th Birthday to Air Max, which were released on this day in 1987, when I was only 2 years old! They do not seem that old to me, but I do have fond memories of my Air Max.

air-max-classic-tailwindClassics on the left similar to the ones I had…On the right the EXACT same pair of Tailwind I had. Such great memories! 😉

I remember one of the first pair I got…It must of been in 1995, Nike Air Max Classic. They were mostly navy with flashes of green, they were amazing! 😀 Back in school if you didn’t have a pair of Air Max you were a nobody  I got them in the first week they came out, so I was the first one in my class and even the school to have them, what a great day. They were expensive back then too, around the same price as they are now, but that was almost 20 years ago! :p

And after that I became the envy of many people, some actually hated me after I got my next pair…Air Max Tailwind! Not only an air bubble at the side, but one at the back too! These were even more expensive, but I remember eventually getting them after finding a deal in a shop and was over the moon. Still kids it was the days of looking in the catalogue all the time lusting after the expensive trainers I thought I would never get…But then did 😀

It’s fair to say that I was part of the Air Max culture when I was growing up, especially through my early teens. It always brings back good memories, and after a long time of being out of the Air Max loop it’s time to get back into the game… 😉

If you think you have swag you don’t, not until you get these, that’s if you’re a girl. The Nike Air Max 1 Liquid Metal are here, the special edition are available in limited quantities, but this is actually marketed as a ladies trainer. It does not seem to be bothering a lot of guys who think they have swag, in the blogosphere the comments from guys seem to be that of praise, and we all want them 😀 I have to say they do look amazing, and if someone at Nike has a size 11 lying around please give me an email 😉

They look too good to wear, come in this amazing gold finish with AU embellished on the tongue which signifies the gold metal element.

There are a few select stores in the UK who have these, and if you can find them you can expect to pay around £129.

How beautiful are these?
