I got a couple of black shirts from Jaeger the other week as you’ll have read, and I think they’re really good. I love a good black shirt, they’re sleek and stylish, you can pair them up with pretty much everything, and they never fail to look smart. They’re particularly good in the Winter, with the colder nights darker colours are usually preferable, and if you’re looking for something to wear for your office Christmas party then a black shirt could be on your list, depending on what your other options are.
A style I love is an all black suit including a black shirt and even black tie, the black shoes of course, but it’s a bit on the formal side, what if you want to do something more casual, city street style but still looking smart?
I’ve paired up the shirt with a pair of black A.P.C dry denim jeans, one of my favourite pairs of denim, and wore a pair of Kurt Geiger suede shoesto complete the look. I really like the colour of these shoes, you’ll probably know my love of these as you’ll see them in so many outfit posts. The lighter colour really stands out alongside the black of the denim and shirt. As for the shirt itself, I love the fit, and the French placket makes it look so smooth and elegant.
For this street style type post I decided to wear one of my favourite suede jackets. It’s from JOFAMA a Swedish brand which does a lot of good work with leather jackets, and I picked this up a while back. If you read my blog a lot, you’ll have seen it before, I wear it a lot in Autumn and Spring when I can (when it doesn’t rain!) and as you’ll know from reading my suede jackets for Autumn guide, I really do love this type of leather. I love the detailing on this, especially the shoulders, biker style collar with button, and the zip details on the sleeves.
I paired it up with a light blue shirt, this one is from Santillo, a family ran Italian independent fashion label which has been in business for over 40 years. Italian shirts are well known for their high level of craftsmanship, and this one is no different. You really can feel the difference in the quality, and I love the fit too.
I am still loving my grey/off-white chinos, and as long as the weather holds up, this colour is fine to wear for all seasons. I like the way that the lighter colours of the chinos and shirt bring out the dark blue of the jacket. As for footwear I went for my black derby shoes from Kurt Geiger. They’re my most worn, and they probably need a bit more love and care, since they’re black I wear these most and are my go to shoes.
Check out more pics below and let me know what you think, and for more of this check out the street style blog 🙂
When it comes to shoes, I really love the derby style. It’s the one style of shoe I will busy time and again, and really love. Derby shoes are a smart shoe, and can be worn for almost any occasion; From a summer wedding to a night out, they’re pretty versatile when it comes to pairing them with your fashion. I already own a pair of Kurt Geiger derby shoes, and in fact they’re my second pair, after getting those last year as my go-to smart footwear choice.
I’ve got the brand new Kurt Geiger Jenkins derby shoes for this Spring, and I simply love them. Like a standard derby shoe they’re suitable for both a smart and casual setting, but these are grey, and also genuine suede, which will add a new dynamic to putting together an outfit.
The grey colour is something I really like. It’s something different to the traditional black formal shoe, and these will brighten up an outfit for this season while still being fairly understated. Suede means taking extra care with these, but that should not be a problem. This combination adds a more casual element to a style which is usually more formal, but these shoes are still really smart and will make any outfit pop.
I have styled them in a sort of rock star look 😀 Wearing my favourite black Selvedge Nudie Jeans, along with a plain white tee and leather black jacket from Selected Homme, it’s a really simple outfit to put together, only three items of clothing plus the shoes, but a look I really like.
Brogues are a style of shoe which I have never previously owned. Brogues are all about the detailing, the perforations are what give a pair of shoes the brogue title. There’s many variations, from a full brogue/wingtips to half brogues and quarter brogue, they’re defined by the amount, and style of perforations which are on the shoe design.
Kurt Geiger sent over these brogues which are part of their brand new Spring/Summer 2016 collection for me to take a look at and style up. The Kurt Geiger Niles shoes are a pair of Oxford shoes with classic brogue detailing, they’re a really nice pair of shoes and I have them in this stylish brown colour. The “W” and all over toe perforations indicate the brogue style. I’ve always thought of brogues as a more smart-casual style of footwear, rather than a classic Oxford or derby style of shoes. Getting these in this brown option is perfect for a smart-casual outfit, and since they’re quite a light-to-mid brown they’re a great colour for the Spring/Summer season ahead.
I have gone for a smart casual style for this outfit, and paired the shoes with a pair of indigo H&M Selvedge denim jeans, Junk De Luxe cardigan and GANT check shirt. I think the shoes really compliment the rest of the outfit, and keep the whole outfit looking really smart.
I am terrible at buying shoes! When I was younger I really hated to wear shoes, and that mentality has really stuck with me for all of my life. I love casual footwear, My Converse collection is now huge, and I have bought three pair of Air Max in the last 2 years. Shoes however are something I have always really hate buying, probably because most of my life I have hated to wear them. I do however wear them on any kind of formal occasion, even semi-formal like a night out; Since I was a kid I have always worn formal footwear on a Friday or Saturday night out; It’s just the done thing in my opinion 😀
I am getting older, and with that a new appreciation of shoes, both a smart casual shoe and the traditional formal styles of shoes. You will always need a formal shoe, whether it’s going to be for work everyday, or for those occasions where you need to dress up and the super casual trainers just don’t work. I’ve needed a new pair for a while, and looked around and thought about brogues, but I’ve decided to stick with my preferred style and gone for a derby again, and once again from Kurt Geiger.
I really like these, they are smart and formal, classic black and are slightly wider than my previous pair I got a long time ago. They have faux-perforation detailing around the back, with the front top having some stitching detailing. The bottoms feel quite grippy, which is all-important when you’re out on an icy night in the winter 😛
I have to up my footwear game! I have so many pair of Converse, and last year was getting back into Air Max, but those are a little sporty, and I really need something more smart/casual. I have never been much of a boot person, but I need to build a more refined wardrobe, and have a more mature and rounded fashion wardrobe. I was looking around over Christmas for my usual clothing which I’ve been blogging about for a couple of weeks, but also went for some footwear too, and picked out these Kurt Geiger suede boots.
I hate buying shoes, and hate buying them online even more. I like to have a good feel of my footwear, especially more formal things such as shoes or boots. Footwear comes in different leather styles, fits and weights, and I don’t usually like something too heavy on my feet. Not only that, I seem to be different sizes in almost everything I wear; I have size 9, 10 and 11 sizes of footwear, and they all fit! 😛
I have a pair of Kurt Geiger shoes which I like, so decided on getting a pair of boots. It’s the winter so boots are great to wear, even though these are suede and so not exactly the best material for winter. I really like the look and style, and you can treat suede with spray which should keep these boots looking respectable. The style name is Morrison, and these were on sale for only £50 which I think is reasonable.
As with lots of jeans I like these boots have contrast stitching, I really like that kind of thing, the bottoms are very grippy too which is helpful in the weather we’re currently having.
Today I have bought a couple of things, a new jacket and new pair of shoes.
The jacket I picked up was from the All Saints store in Newcastle, and was the powder denim one which I blogged about before. It’s really nice, lightweight and short, really great for the summer and nights out. They had just got it in the store, it was not even on the shop floor, someone had to get it from the back, so I may be the first one to buy it from the Newcastle store 😉
I also got some shoes, I HATE buying shoes which I have mentioned before, I dunno why I just do! 😛 I found a couple of pair, tried a few on and bought these MR KG by Kurt Geiger ones from Fenwick Newcastle. I had the poor girl running all over getting me different ones in different sizes, I am a 9 in these MR KG shoes, my previous (Base London) shoes are a 10. The sales girl was amazing and helpful and I ended up getting this pair which I like.
