French Connection, more commonly known as FCUK is a high street fashion brand based in the UK and founded in 1971. It's a label which produced clothing such as shirts, jeans and t-shirts, and has male grooming products including aftershave and skin care products.
Brrr it’s getting cold in ‘ere! Winter is here, or coming, depending on where in the world you live and when you’re reading this post 😉 One way or another you’ll be experiencing the depths of winter sometime soon, so you’ll need a winter coat or jacket to get you through a few horrible months of the miserable British winter weather.
Buying a good winter coat is not only important for the first year you purchase it, but it can become a good investment piece, lasting a good few winters before you need to splash out and buy another. With that said, investing in a good jacket is not only worth it because you’ll be getting much better quality which will be noticeable when you wear it, as well as it lasting longer than a cheap and cheerful coat.
My winter coat and jacket collection has grown over the past few years, and I have quite a few of the bases covered with quite the selection, including my Pull and Bear Parka, Barbour Chelsea Quilted Jacket, Adrian Hammond padded jacket and of course the daddy of them all, my Canada Goose.
The Canada Goose Is Hands Down The Best – Buy One!
I would love to advise you to go out and spend near £600 on a Canada Goose jacket, but things are not that simple. In my opinion if you need a coat for a harsh winter there is simply no better than a Canada Goose. I got a Chilliwack Parka a few years ago, and it was a godsend for 2 bad winters we had. It does come with a few problems in the UK though. For example, last winter was so mild I never actually wore it! They are amazing for harsh weather, and if it’s freezing cold, if there’s wind chill, or if it’s snowing, then wearing one will keep you toasty. However if it’s a mild winter and not really sub-zero temperatures, you’ll literally be sweating in one; They are not really designed for mildly-cold winters. There’s the price too, at around £600 it is rather expensive.
So what are the other bits of fashion advice when looking to buy a winter coat this year? Well there are a few options, and I will go into the different styles of jackets which are available at the moment.
If you have a job then you’ll be happy that today is counted as a Bank Holiday in the UK, so you’ll of probably had today off, however I broke up from work so I was off anyway. I have bought a few things online in the sales, but since today is a Bank Holiday there’s no deliveries, so I have to wait a little longer.
I got a few really nice things for Christmas this year, including a few tops, some loungewear and socks and boxers. I am really into socks at the moment, I think different colours are so cool and can add to an outfit in the smallest of details.
I got yet more Happy Socks(and I have even more coming!) which I love. I am in some kind of transition with socks, and I’ll pretty much be throwing all my old ones away and replace them with brand new ones this year. I have a few classic black and grey pairs which I’ll keep, other than that, Happy Socks will be my new daily wear. A few new pairs of boxer shorts are never a bad thing, and I got some from Bjorn Borg which I have always liked.
I got a few things from FCUK, this tee and a knit which is perfect for the Winter.
I got this ArmaniTee, black with white dots, I have the same one in a different colour pattern, as well as the Armani loungewear top which are really nice.
I got the Calvin Klein loungewear set too, I need fresh new loungewear so I am glad that I got some 🙂
It was my birthday last week and I got a couple of polo shirts and a short sleeve shirt. I got an EA7 Emporio Armani polo top in navy blue, and it is a nice colour and fit. The marled purple colour of the other is from Peter Werth, it’s a really nice and unusual colour, different from just a standard solid colour. I got a short sleeve check shirt from French Connection too.
Summer is here, which means a couple of things, first off it’s supposed to be hot, and second, there are lots of sales on at the moment in the world of fashion. If you are looking for some clothing to keep you cool this summer, now is the time to shop around.
It may not be boiling hot in the UK yet but it is warm and muggy, and it’s time to wear shorts, if not out definately while chilling. If you are going on your holidays to somewhere you’d wear shorts on a daily basis, I have selected a few pair from the ASOSsale, as you can see above.
I think that denim or chino style shorts are a much more grown up, fashionable style to wear, more so than swim shorts or casual sports shorts. I think a few pairs of “good” shorts are worth investing in, even if you are not a big fan of wearing shorts.

I thought I would split up what I got for Christmas into a few posts, so this is the smellies one; The aftershaves, grooming and so on all in this post.
First my three EDT’s. I have Bang Bang by Marc Jacobs, Dior Homme Intense and YSL L’Homme Libre. All three are really nice. This is the new Marc Jacobs for this year, Last year’s was “Bang” which I have but do not really like. This one is much nicer and less pungent, but still a powerful smell.
I recently got a new shirt and jacket from French Connection and I love both of them 🙂 They are good quality as you would expect from FCUK, and also look and feel great.
Here is the shirt which is great. It is made from good but very fine cotton, so it is perfect for the summer. I wore it yesterday, you can see that here. You can get yourself a French Connection shirt from their site here.
Next is a leather jacket. This is actually the first one I have got, and I am really impressed with it. I have looked at them in store and tried a few, and now I have this one. The quality is amazing, it’s not too heavy but not paper thin either, and looks really good with a shirt or t-shirt if you want to be more casual. You can get a jacket from French Connection here. It has plenty pockets to keep your things in, including 2 inner pockets. I like this, so I can keep my camera in there on a night out 😉 It has a zip opening as well as buttons, so you can use either, both, or none.
Are you enjoying the weather today? Sorry if wherever you are isnt nice, but in Newcastle it is HOT! 😀 Well, almost anyway, it was 18 degrees today according to my car, and you can actually feel the heat, its not just sunny. They said on the news last night that it would get progressively colder, so its probably all over now 🙁
p.s. no more pics of my car display, until the summer at least, it gets repetitive 😀
Today I have been quite busy with work, since I got a parking ticket I have to park further away from work, and I had 4 big boxes of t-shirts to carry which is almost 300 t-shirts which are heavy when you have to carry them a bit of a distance 😛
Here I am today, this is what I wore.
