Men’s Style – Fashion Friday No.9

Fashion Friday - Men's Fashion Tips Number 9

Did you miss it last week? Well it’s back! Fashion Friday no.9 is here 🙂 I have been running so many features on the blog lately I thought I would give this one a bit of a break, and it’s always been thought of as a weekly/bi-weekly feature, so I can focus on the best men’s clothing to give the best fashion tips out there.

Nudie Jeans Adrian Parka – £460 –

New Look Knitted Jumper – £19.99

Happy socks – £8

Cheap Monday Dictionary T-Shirt – £25

Armani 2-Pack T-Shirts – £26

Burton Bomber Jacket – £14

Superdry Leather Jacket – £200

Selected Homme Merino Knit – £55

First up is this amazingly warm Adrian parka from Nudie Jeans. We’ve had miserable weather in the last few days, fog and rain, and it’s a reminder that colder times are here and winter is right around the corner. The parka fits the bill with a detachable faux fur hood, water repellent outer and padded, quilted inner which will keep you toasty.

The knit from New Look is a contrasting white and black style jumper made from a acrylic-mix and is only £20. A great buy if you’re looking to up your knitwear game for the months ahead and are on a budget looking for something more colourful than a plain jumper.

I still love socks, and Happy Socks have been doing some pretty good designs. one of their latest is their black and white paisley design which I think looks really good, and will add something to any outfit.

Layering is definitely an option when it comes to men’s fashion in Autumn or Winter, and there’s plenty of ways to do it with these next few items. The Cheap Monday T-Shirt is a cool printed white top with a dictionary print. It shows the definition of the words Over My Dead Body, which is över min döda kropp in Swedish, the phrase Cheap Monday uses. House Of Fraser have a 2-pack of Armani tees for only £26. I love these fitted style of tees to use as an under shirt which can be essential to wear under a knit if you don’t want to wear a shirt. The finish off the layering there’s a good deal on this Burton bomber, for only £14 you get this zip-up, which you can layer with a shirt and jacket.

Speaking of jackets, leather is always a good choice when you want to look cool without being cold. Superdry have recently came up with this jacket, the Real Hero Biker jacket. If you want to look casual and have an edge while still looking smart, this is the way to go.

Last up is this knit from Selected Homme. It’s a V-neck knit in 100% fine merino wool in light grey, which is a really good colour which will work with almost everything. At only £55 it’s a good price for 100% merino wool from a good brand.

That is the end of this week’s Fashion Friday. As always you can send me tips on Twitter, I am @Michael84Blog, and you can read last week’s Fashion Friday No.8 here.

Fashion Friday Edit: No.8

mens-fashion-advice-number-8

Happy Fashion Friday to you all 🙂 The weekend is upon us, so if you’re looking for some men’s fashion advice for what to buy this weekend, or pieces to invest in going forward, you should check out this week’s fashion edit.

Calvin Klein Shirt – £70

Nike Air Max 95 Exclusive At JD Sports – £115

ASOS Bomber Jacket 2 Pack – £34

Ted Baker Swanley Socks – 3 Pack – £22

Zara Suede Jacket – £99

Hugo Boss Colasso Coat – £380

Superdry Jacket – £75

Ralph Lauren Trainers – £95

First up is this dark chambray shirt from Calvin Klein. I just love the colour and the washed out look of it. It’s a slim fit, and this combined with the dark colour will keep you looking sleek.

Next is this pair of trainers which are Nike Air Max 95. I really love Air Max 95, they are old school and super comfortable, you can really feel the difference when you’re walking on a cushion of air which covers the key points of the foot. This colourway is really nice, a combinations of different blues creating a striping effect on the backdrop of the white trainers. These are exclusive to JD Sports, with all the legendary elements which has made the Air Max 95 an all time classic from Nike.

What’s better than having one light bomber in your wardrobe? Having two! You’ve probably seen 2 packs of T-Shirts, and 2 packs of other clothing, but a 2-pack in jackets? It’s not something you see every day. ASOS are doing a 2-pack of a bomber jacket which is constructed in light sweatshirt material which is super soft to touch. They come in a grey and black colour, suitable for wearing in mild temperatures with a tee, or wear with a bigger coat when the temperatures dip a bit lower.

Ted Baker do some really nice socks, and this 3-pack of socks is one of them. You don’t have to buy them as a gift for someone else, get them for yourself. They’re made from organic cotton, and at £22 for a 3 pack, they are a good deal.

The Autumn/Winter season is the prime time for a suede jacket, and Zara have a few which are on trend right now. I’ve picked out this one in navy blue. Bomber length with collar detail, zips on the sleeves and a zip-up opening, you should consider this if you’re looking to get into suede jackets this season.

This week has reminded me that Winter is coming, and so you may be on the look out for a winter coat. This is called the Colasso from Hugo Boss, and it looks like it will stand up to the cold very well. With a zip through opening and chunky buttons to the front, the design is smart and minimal, which means you’ll always be looking smart while staying warm too. It’s £380, but it will always be stylish for many winters to come.

If you’re looking for a jacket which will keep you dry and is lighter and more competitively priced, the Arctic Windcheater from Superdry is a worthy contender. For only £75 you get a whole lot of jacket, it’s waterproof and is fleece lined, with a selection of really colourful interiors to suit your personal style.

Last up are some smart trainers which I would say look more like casual shoes, the Odle from Ralph Lauren. They come in either black or dark tan, which is the colour I have selected here. The uppers are made from Nubuck leather, with a rubber sole and leather lining.

I hope you’ve had a great week, and you’ve enjoyed this week’s Fashion Friday. As always you can send me tips on Twitter at @Michael84Blog, you can check out last week’s Fashion Friday here.

Friday Fashion – Men’s Style Edit No.8

mens-style-blog-fashion-edit-8

It’s the end of the week which means one thing, more men’s fashion advice in the Fashion Friday roundup. We’re getting colder days and longer nights, so keeping warm and layering up is starting to become a priority. Check out this week’s picks:

Converse Baseball Jacket – £120

Cheap Monday T Shirt – £20

Mango Suede Jacket – £120

Barbour Steve McQueen Jacket – £229

Hugo Boss Zip Top – £129

Hugo Boss Knit – £119

Tommy Hilfiger Shirt – £85

Superdry Jumper – £60

First up is this Converse bomber jacket. I love the contrasting body and sleeve colour, and the black works well with the dark grey. It’s light, but there’s enough padding to keep you warm throughout the Autumn.

Just because it’s getting cooler doesn’t mean you can’t add a tee to your wardrobe. This Cheap Monday tee is new and cool, complete with the Cheap Monday wording to the front, layer it with a shirt and jacket for warm Autumn style.

Suede jackets are always big for Autumn, and Mango Man do a few really nice jackets, which are reasonably priced. This one comes in a few colours, I’ve selected it in black. It has two flap pockets on either side of the jacket, with a zip-opening. With quilted panels on the shoulders and a bomber length, it’s a good choice for this season and for years to come.

Barbour wax jackets are iconic, and I love the Steve McQueen jackets. This one is new in at House Of Fraser, and is a timeless classic.

For the milder days and nights this light sweatshirt jacket from Hugo Boss will do the trick. It’s the Zkyler from the BOSS Orange line and is made from soft sweatshirt cotton material, in a light grey colour with mottled effect. It comes complete with kangaroo pouch pockets and is a regular fit.

I love pull-overs when it gets a bit colder, you can smarten up a look with a V-neck knit and a good shirt, so a solid sweater is always a good thing to own. This Hugo Boss sweater fits the bill, it’s available in a large number of colours, I’ve picked the classic black colour. It’s slim fit, and made from fine merino wool, so will feel as good as it looks.

If you want to go for a smart-casual look a patterned shirt will work well, whether you layer it up or wear it with a suede or leather jacket. When it gets colder you can layer it with a sweater or cardigan, dressing it up slightly but keeping a bit of that laid back look. I really like the colours of this Tommy Hilfiger shirt, the ‘Ryan’ regular fit shirt.

Last up is this jumper from Superdry. We all need a cosy, chunky knit, and this one looks to be exactly that. A cable knit jumper, in a classic cream colour, or ‘Porridge’ as the guys over at Superdry are calling it. It’s a crew neck which means you don’t have to worry too much about what you’ve got under it.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s Fashion Friday 🙂 As always, you can see last week’s here, and don’t forget to send me your tips on Twitter at @Michael84Blog 🙂

Men’s Style Advice – Fashion Friday Edit No.7

mens-style-blog-fashion-edit-7

Hi guys and welcome to yet more end of the week fashion advice, yes, I am talking about another Fashion Friday roundup. This is edit number 7, and it has a bit of a theme going to it. H&M have released their AW 2015 collection, and there’s a lot of good things in their collection. In fact there’s so many, I have dedicated half of the edit just to H&M wears. Here’s this week’s picks.

H&M Long Sleeve Tee – £6

H&M Selvedge Jeans – £40

H&M Colourful Knitted Jumper – £30

H&M Merino Wool Knit – £30

ASOS Stripe Jumper – £28

Ted Baker Cardigan – £109

NN.07 Cody Melange Sweater – £110

Calvin Klein 90’s Logo Sweatshirt – £90

First up from H&M is an item which is new but already on sale, and it’s for an amazing £6 so you can’t grumble at that…In fact, I’ve ordered one myself and will post it on the blog soon! Next are a pair of jeans from H&M, but not just any old jeans, these are made using Selvedge Denim, the darling of the denim world. Usually more expensive, H&M are bringing these to the high street at a price of only £40. There’s a colourful knitted top which will add some bright colours to your Autumn look, and then a premium 100% merino wool knit for only £30, available in a few colours, I really love the blue colour.

Rounding off the high street end of things is a jumper from ASOS. It’s a wool mix composition and comes in a nice pattern of striped with a block of blue across the shoulders, on the hem and sleeves. At £28 it’s at a nice price-point if you’re looking for a jumper and prefer something other than a plain knit.

My favourite piece from this week’s Fashion Friday is this cardigan from Ted Baker. It’s an ombré colour which looks really beautiful. It’s sure to get heads turning, and is perfect for layering and making an otherwise boring outfit stand out. It comes in at £109.

NN.07 are Scandanavian brand from Denmark which has produced a really great collection of modern classics, including this melange sweater. I love the colour, and it will go well with most things you already have in your wardrobe.

If you’re a regular reader then you’ll of already seen the Calvin Klein 90’s reissue T-Shirt I got earlier in the year. It’s getting a little chilly for tees, so what can you do? Well, you can get the same iconic 90’s inspired design, but on a sweatshirt. The CK 90’s sweatshirt is available in a few colours, I’ve picked it out here in a classic white with black logo. It’s £90 so not cheap, but you will be the coolest guy in the room in this.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s fashion Friday, you can send me tips on Twitter here, or check out last week’s edition here.

Men’s Style Tips – Friday Fashion Edit No.6

Featuring: , ,

mens-style-blog-fashion-edit-6

It’s that time of the week again! If you’ve been waiting for some men’s fashion advice ready for a weekend of shopping or just casual browsing, I have a few really nice picks for you. It’s been Autumn for a while, or it’s at least felt like it, but it was officially the Autumn Equinox on Wednesday, so we’re officially into Autumn. Here’s what I have been loving this week.

Farah Shirt – £55

Edwin Classic Sweatshirt £65

Jack Wills Hooded Sweat – £60

TOMS Chukka Boots – £79.99

Cheap Monday Black Jeans – £55

Reiss Suede Jacket – £375

H&M Quilted Suede Jacket – £150

ASOS Gingham Shirt – £20

First up I am going to start with this shirt from Farah. I really like blue for this season, navy or something a little lighter but not too light, it’s a great colour to layer and although it’s a fairly dark colour it will brighten up a black or dark grey jacket. This model is the Brewer slim fit shirt, and comes with contrasting white buttons which I love. A reasonable £55, button down collar and minimal branding.

I have always been fond of Japanese fashion and labels, they are always high quality and sought after. Edwin is a high end label which is highly thought of in the denim world, and have branched out into other areas of clothing, and they’re doing it well. This Edwin classic crew neck sweatshirt is available from The Idle Man, and could be a key piece in your wardrobe, styling it up with a patterned shirt underneath to create a smart-casual look, or keep it relaxed with a plain tee under.

Taken from my Budget Student Fashion For Men Guide I have borrowed this hooded top which comes from Jack Wills. It’s a full-zip up so can double up as a very light jacket on warmer days, just make sure you’re wearing a really nice tee under it.

I came across these Chukka boots from TOMS and really like them. They’re not formal at all, but they are very smart, and a nice break from usual casual kicks from Nike, Adidas, Converse or Vans. They’re black herringbone and look super stylish.

I think black jeans for the winter are really stylish and give your look a minimal feel with a plain black rinse. These Sonic Rinse Black from Cheap Monday look the part, I like the fit which is fashionable slim without being a skinny fit.

A suede jacket is a very desirable fashion item to have for the Autumn season, and this is one of the best I have seen. If you have a big budget of almost £400 it’s a complete no brainer, this Reiss Salamanda suede jacket in stone colour is a must have buy. It will last a good few years as long as you take care of it, and I can’t see this style or neutral colour going out of fashion any time soon.

Another suede jacket is this one from H&M. It’s a diamond quilted jacket, from their premium range. Bomber length and fully lined, it’s a bargain at only £150 and will add Autumnal style to your wardrobe.

And to end this weeks Fashion Friday we come back down to high street pricing with a £20 shirt from ASOS. The blue and white gingham pattern is stylish, and you’ll be able to wear this with a cardigan or knit and show just a little bit of that pattern to create a really smart look with a bit of edge.

I hope you have enjoyed this week’s Fashion Friday. As usual you can send me tips on Twitter here, and be sure to check out last week’s Fashion Friday if you missed it too 🙂

Fashion Friday – Michael 84 Style Edit – Number 1

Featuring: , ,

mens-friday-fashion-tips-1

A new feature on Michael 84 is Fashion Friday Favourites, or as I may call it, the Michael 84 Friday Fashion Edit. It does exactly what it says on the tin, and is my favourite pieces of fashion from my favourite places on and offline. There’s so much in men’s fashion at the moment and it’s going from strength to strength, but sometimes we just don’t have the time to have a good look around at places to get that key piece we’re looking for. Here I will showcase some clothing or fashion products which I am really liking at the moment. It will mostly be new fashion, so if you’re ever in doubt of what’s hot at the moment, you’ll find out right here every Friday 🙂

This week I am kicking it off with these pieces.

H&M Wool Jacket – I really love this H&M blazer, it’s a dark navy blue colour and is marled so has a bit of texture to the colour. It’s from their premium range and is made from 100% wool, so is worth the money. It’s £80

H&M Fine Knit Jumper – I just love the nautical theme at the moment, it’s on trend and something I really love. This fine knit jumper is only £15 and is the classic navy with fine white stripes. Get it

ASOS Stripe T Shirt – Continuing the nautical theme I have selected this t-shirt, this time with the colours reversed. White is the base and it has navy stripes and a ringer collar.

Converse Chuck II – The trainers of the moment are the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II. A reworking of the original I have picked out the all white colour for the summer.

H&M Cotton Shirt – Summer is still here and I love a check shirt, wear it with the sleeves rolled-up and open with a tee for a summer look. You can pick this up from H&M for only £15

Nudie Jeans Selvedge – Premium denim which will last a long time, buying a pair of Nudie Jeans is an investment. I really like black denim ready for autumn, or brighten up the look with some light top/jacket combination. These are the coveted Selvedge denim so you can create a premium laid back look, and all for a reasonable £155. They’re slim fit.

ASOS Grey Blazer – To keep an outfit light for the summer a light coloured jacket will do this while also keeping you smart, and I really like this grey one from ASOS. At £65 it’s a fair price, it comes in a woll mix and tweed texture to give it a bit of dimension.

ASOS White Ripped Skinny Jeans – My favourite for the summer and a trend which has taken off quite a bit this year is white denim or bottoms. It’s been given a bit of an edge, with the ripped jeans trend really taking over. You can get some ripped, slim fitting jeans from ASOS for only £35, a good price for something you’re going to wear a handful of times over the summer.

That’s your lot for this week’s Friday fashion tips. Let me know if you’ve seen anything else which deserves a mention 🙂 As usual, you’ll find all my men’s fashion advice right here, if you’re looking for some style I recommend checking it out 🙂

Summer Fashion Tips – Ripped Jeans For Men

Featuring: , ,

Men's Summer Fashion Tips - Ripped Jeans

Summer is here and one of the hottest fashion tips is ripped jeans. I really do like this trend, it really creates an edge to your outfit and can liven up your denim wardrobe by getting a pair or two of the ripped style.

There’s plenty of variety of ripped jeans, from distressed jeans with slight rips and cuts, to those with only the knee exposed, extreme rips and acid rips, tears and more. There’s not only a standard cut either, with skinny, slim, tapered and just about every other fit of denim available in a more rustic kind of look. Colour is important for the summer, and you can brighten up your look and keep it casual with a pair of white ripped up jeans.

DIY Ripped Jeans

If you have a few pairs of your favourite jeans or can’t find the exact look you want, then you can always customise your own jeans, with a DIY ripped jeans approach…Obviously they’ll never be the same again, so it’s probably best to do this on an older, or less expensive pair of denim you own. It’s as simple as using a pair of scissors, and add some distressing with sandpaper or wire wool.

However I think going down the road of having some already designed and manufactured with rips is the way to go, as there’s already a lot out there. I have found a few pair which I really like, my favourites are the ASOS skinny jeans with extreme rips in white, and are a bargain at only £21.

Fashion Tips: The Best Christmas Jumpers Guide For 2014

Featuring: ,

Me In My Cheesy Christmas Jumper Lighting Up

O Come All Ye Faithful, Fashionable And Triumphant! It’s that time of year again, Christmas time! A time for presents, a time for mince pies, stuffing your face with Turkey, and all the trimmings that come with one amazing Christmas. One thing you can’t forget is your Christmas Jumper. In recent years the Christmas jumper has been reborn; Long gone are the days when they’re thought of as that ugly, itchy knitted jumper you’d get for Christmas…They are trendy and in style, and these days there are so many different fun and novelty styles to choose from, you can’t just get one, you need a couple! So for the festive Christmas fashion tips, I have found some of the best Christmas jumpers out there to buy.

I do love a good Christmas knit, it’s one of those things where you can really go to town and be over the top, much like the festive period itself. Whether you’re planning on wearing it once on Christmas Day while eating your lunch watching Top Of The Pops, or getting a couple for the Xmas nights out and office parties.

I have a couple, and my favourite is the one pictured above. It’s a Christmas tree, but it has it’s own party trick…Lights! 😀 It has LEDs which light up, so it looks amazing in the dark or a darkish room. It instantly grabs your attention, and is so cheesy, the ideal Christmas jumper. The LEDs work at the flick of a switch, which is concealed within the jumper, but easily accessible so you can change the batteries.

If you want to be in fashion for the festive period then now is the time to get yourself one of these for Christmas. It’s became so popular there is even an official day, this year it’s Friday 12th December 2014 is Christmas Jumper Day, where you’re encouraged to don your favourite knit in aid of Save The Children.

If you need a guide and tips on what’s out there at the moment, and want to sort your fair isle from your funny graphics, acrylics to your wools then here are a couple of my favourites I’ve found, as well as a couple which I own.
