The Best Of The Fashion Summer Sales July 2014 – ASOS

ASOS Summer Sale - July 2014

It’s summer sale season and most shops and fashion labels have sales going on right now. The sales are amazing, but can be a minefield, where do you start looking, and there’s thousands of items on sale. The best part is looking through all the clothing to see if you can find yourself a bargain, but if you’re too lazy, I have put together my top picks from the sales from the leading brands and stores. First up is ASOS.

A summer shirt is a good thing to have, and Checks are still in and I love them. They’re smarter than a graphic tee, but casual enough to wear without over-doing your look. The gingham River Island long sleeve is now £16 here and the ASOS Buffalo print is only £17 here.

I found a bargain in the short section, French Connection Chino shorts, in a neutral beige colour they’ll go with a lot of your summer wardrobe. Reduced from £50 to only £18, better than half price you can find them here.

If you’re looking for a quality leather satchel then The Cambridge Satchel Company are a good option, Made In The UK. There’s a few in the sale, and I picked out this black one with tartan to add some individuality to your bag. Get it here for only £84.

There’s a lot of pocket squares which are good quality for only £3, and something you should stock up on which will add a touch of class to your blazers and jackets. There’s plenty of designs to choose from, whether you’re looking for something plain or pattern.

If you want something different in the form of a hat then Pull & Bear have got a Trilby for you this summer for only £6. You can get it here.

Real leather jackets are expensive, but the Barney’s 100% real leather jacket is on sale for only £125. If you’re in the market for one, or think you will be when the cooler months come, it could be a good investment. Get it here.

Summer would not be summer without T-shirts. If you like music and printed tees, then the iconic RUN DMC print has been done by ASOS for only a tenner here. Horizontal stripes are something I have always liked, and you can get a Brave Soul Tee here, better than half price at £8.

Baseball jerseys and baseball shirts have been popular in the past couple of years, and are still cool. There’s a few in the ASOS sale, and I have picked out this one from Criminal Damage, this one from Majestic and this one from UCLA.

You can shop for these and the rest of the ASOS Sale here.

This Week At ASOS – Issue 4 – Michael84:Edit

Featuring: ,

This week at ASOS - Clothing by Michael84

We’re well into the New Year now, the NYE’s hangovers have cleared, and we’re back to work. There’s lots of sales still on at the moment, but most retailers are also getting in their new stock ready for the new season. Here’s what I have been looking at on ASOS this week.

  • Bellfield Jumper – Regular fit and made from a soft wool blend, if you’ve read my blog in the last 18 months or so you’ll know I love dip dye, and long may it continue. £38
  • Nudie Jeans – Nudie could be the kings of premium denim, and I love this pair of slim fit, “Thin Finn” dry jeans. Premium organic selvedge and 13.25oz denim all for £155.
  • Anerkjendt Sweatshirt – Cotton sweatshirt material with stylish ANKJ applique – £55
  • American Apparel Jacket – I really like the colour and style of this jacket, it’s something which I don’t have in my wardrobe. £54
  • Diesel T Shirt – Diesel logo t shirt in red. Not to be missed if you’re t-shirt game is a bit weak at the moment, grab this for only £30
  • ASOS Bomber – Galaxy prints were all over in 2013, and if you’re a fan, get this style in a bomber jacket – £34
  • Jack Wills Tee – The poly-cotton blend makes this t-shirt really soft to touch, Jack Wills are going down the “Fabulously British” route and trying to not only be the “University Outfitters” they once were. £29.50

All of these are available at ASOS right now!

This Week’s Fashion Edit – Michael:84 Issue No.3

Featuring: ,

Issue No.3 for this week’s fashion edit is here! With a focus on printed tees and check shirts, it features brands such as Moschino, ASOS, Armani Jeans, River Island and Ralph Lauren.

  • Armani Jeans printed tee – £60
  • River Island shirt in buffalo print with black and blue colour – £25
  • Ralph Lauren check shirt, red and black checks – £110
  • ASOS buffalo print shirt, green and blue checks – £28
  • I Love Sushi Moschino t-shirt – £88
  • Ice Cream T Shirt – £75
  • Armani Jeans sweatshirt – £125

The stand out item is the all over printed tee from Ice Cream. I love the colour, detail and quality of this Ice Cream tee. It’s not the most sought after street wear brand as it once was back in 2005-07, with a lot more stores stocking the lower end lines, but this design is premium and will give your look some individuality.

Fashion Trends – Checks, Plaid, Flannel, Prints And Buffalo Checks

Featuring: ,

A really big fashion trend at the moment is check and plaid patterns and prints, but most of all Buffalo prints. I got myself a t-shirt which I really love in this style which is really taking over. Have you wondered what this is called when searching for some clothing or accessories? It’s called Buffalo Check.

Most commonly seen in red and black, but you can get it in a variation of other colours such as yellow/black or blue/black. The original use was for heavy types of fabrics for use in fashion such as lumberjack shirts and jackets, but it’s now come into it’s own, and being used a lot in both men’s and women’s fashion. There’s a huge variation of clothing and accessories which are available now, here are a couple of my favourites which I have found.

ASOS T Shirt and shirt, they also have a wide range of other fashion in Buffalo including a bomber jacket, polo top and even a backpack. Topman have a few items including this really nice printed scarf, a must have if Buffalo clothing is not your style but you like the pattern enough to incorporate it within your usual outfits. King of shirts Ralph Lauren do their check shirt, as do !Solid, H&M and Zara.

New In My Wardrobe – Tees And A Quilted Bomber From ASOS

I have been talking a fair bit about wanting a quilted bomber, initially I wanted a real leather one, but not really finding one I truly love I gave up. I got a couple of items this week, some were included in my fashion edit last week and this too, so I do practice what I preach 😉 Here are a couple of things I got from ASOS this week.

I have an upcoming feature about how checks are in this season and I have bought this t-shirt which I love. The pattern is good, and to add a bit of individualism the back is cut slightly longer than the front. I wore this on Friday night out in Newcastle, it was cold but worth the sacrifice 😉 It’s from ASOS Black, their premium men’s line which has some really nice things in the collection.

The bomber jacket has been featured on Michael 84 before, and it’s finally mine. A good quality tweed-esque quilted style. I wanted a simplistic jacket which would work well with a number of things, be warm for the winter and toned down enough to look fairly smart on a night out, and I think this is it.

Finally two tees which were only £7 in the sale, these are good for layering for the cold weather and will brighten up an outfit. These will look good with a dark coloured cardigan such as black.

This Week’s Fashion Tips – Issue 2 – Michael84:Edit

Featuring: , ,

Want to find out what is hot this week in the world of street wear, high street and high end fashion? Check out the Michael84:Edit Issue 2. This week is a mix of high street fashion and high end style, from labels such as Kenzo and Topman, available in shops such as Selfridges, ASOS and Liberty.

ASOS BLK T Shirt – £22 – Check out the checks. This style is an absolute must this season. ASOS are on trend, offering a tee, polo, long sleeve top and even a bomber jacket in this style.

Topman Basic Baseball Tee – £18 – This is the perfect choice for me, if you are into DIY or customising your clothes this this a brilliant canvas to work on, or if you want something simple for a minimal look. Don’t spend a fortune on a hipster brand, go for an official MLB Majestic brand or high street name if baseball tees are your thing.

Criminal Damage Bomber – £70 – Bomber length, quilted and a cosmic galaxy print. It has all the fashionable bases covered. If you want to brighten up your look and stay warm, this is a good way to do it.

Topman Flecked Bomber – £35 – Complete with leopard print sleeves it stands out without being too loud and flamboyant.

Kenzo Sweatshirt – £160 – The must have sweatshirt for AW13, if you have £160 to spend on a sweatshirt, this is the one.

Alexander McQueen T-shirt – £125 – Get this overall print McQ tee for a premium choice of top with unique design.

Nudie Jeans – £170 – Thin Finn jeans in a heavy rust wash, with the typical Nudie high quality denim.

Selected Homme Jumper – £45 – In a dark melange grey colour, this thick round neck knit will keep you warm this winter.

17th November – This Week’s Men’s Fashion Tips From ASOS Michael84 Edit

What’s new at ASOS or what am I feeling at the moment…

I have been on an absolute hunt for a real leather, quilted jacket. I have literally searched high and low for the exact style I wanted, and come up with not very much. ASOS have this in from Selected for £175. A real leather quilted jacket in a bomber fit. Their own label also do a rich wool blend quilted bomber, it looks pretty good in dark grey and a bargain at only £55. To round off the quilted bombers I found that my one of my favourite Danish lifestyle brands, !Solid had brought out a range in yellow, red and blue, priced at £55.

I still love dip dye, and ever since I got my first Gant dip dye knit last winter I have been in love with this style. ASOS do their own denim dip dye shirt, in a denim style. I really love the exposed stitching detail, it gives an added dimension to the shirt. I have noticed that there is a resurgence in flannel and checks in women’s fashion, especially with reds, and this will cross over into men’s fashion because it works so well. This checked shirt has contrasting panels, perfect to look that little bit different from the crowd of regular check shirt wearers. Going back to the dip dye is this sweatshirt from Son Of Wild, the red and white colours work well and it’s a relaxed fit so perfect for those cold chilly nights. To round this up I have found a 2-pack of bright ASOS t-shirts for layering and adding colour to an otherwise boring outfit, only a tenner for 2, you can’t complain.

Christmas Jumpers For 2013 Festivities Part 1

Featuring: ,

Christmas is coming round fast, and if there is one thing you need to get yourself it’s a Christmas jumper. Join in the festive spirit and add some Christmas cheer to your wardrobe with a jumper to keep you warm this winter. They are considered by some to be a bit tacky, cheap or novelty, but there is so much fashion or fun you can have with your knitwear this year. You have to be quick, because once they are gone, they are usually gone! Don’t hesitate in getting your favourite jumper for this season.

Here are a few of my early favourites, part 1 of some Christmas jumpers, from some expensive designer brands, to more cheaper high street labels which still look great to wear on your Christmas party or night out.

Michael 84 x Access All ASOS

Recently ASOS got in touch with my and told me about an exciting new opportunities they were offering for their biggest fans, called AccessAllASOS. It offers an inside look, as well as other things, but it’s a brand new concept and it’s an invite only service at the moment.

I got an email confirming that I would be one of the first ASOS insiders, and today received a had written letter and little gift in the form of a beanie and pair of socks 😀

Swedish House Mafia Tees At ASOS

I really like ASOS, and I love Swedish House Mafia, but this is not very “fashion forward” of the brand. They have just added some Swedish House Mafia tees to their in-house ASOS label collection, which are cool, well, they would have been last year.

Swedish House Mafia split earlier this year, so it’s a bit strange to see something like this come around now. Especially strange considering this Miami to Ibiza design taken from the hit was released in 2010, 3 years ago! (it was also actually called “Miami 2 Ibiza”).  Of course this is not the first time we’ve seen SHM have their trademarks on fashion clothing, they also appeared on H&M t-shirts a while back, in fact I got one 😀

Still these are pretty nice tees, albeit just a tad too late. You can pick both of these up from ASOS priced at £12 each.

ASOS Summer ’13 Sale – Shorts: Michael 84 Edit

Featuring: ,

Summer is here, which means a couple of things, first off it’s supposed to be hot, and second, there are lots of sales on at the moment in the world of fashion. If you are looking for some clothing to keep you cool this summer, now is the time to shop around.

It may not be boiling hot in the UK yet but it is warm and muggy, and it’s time to wear shorts, if not out definately while chilling. If you are going on your holidays to somewhere you’d wear shorts on a daily basis, I have selected a few pair from the ASOS sale, as you can see above.

I think that denim or chino style shorts are a much more grown up, fashionable style to wear, more so than swim shorts or casual sports shorts. I think a few pairs of “good” shorts are worth investing in, even if you are not a big fan of wearing shorts.

  • French Connection Stone colour shorts – £50 £22
  • Humor Red shorts – £50 £30
  • Cheap Monday – £49 £29
  • !Solid Blue Shorts – £50 £29
  • Minimum Green Shorts – £50 £35
  • Esprit Dip Dye Shorts – £45 £31

Finally Got My Dip Dye Basic T-Shirts From ASOS

I finally went ahead and bought a couple of basic dip dye t-shirts. I saw them on ASOS a while ago, in fact I blogged about them :p I finally went ahead and bought them, and I am happy with them. Good quality basic tees from ASOS, as you’d expect, and a great buy at £14 each. The blue/grey was actually under a tenner a few days ago, but they put it back up for some reason…Maybe they saw my posts and knew I’d buy one, haha 😉

I may do some custom printing on one of these, and make it truly unique. If I do, I will of course be blogging about it 🙂

p.s. Sorry for the image quality, it seems to be bad right? I don’t know why, I think it was the lighting conditions this morning when I took these pics 🙁 I might take some better pics later.
