Beerfest Film Review

Hey guys! I hope you are well. So for my latest film night, I was having a look through Amazon and found Beerfest. It sounded like it would be fun, so I decided to give it a watch.

When watching the film I thought it started to look familiar. I have actually seen this film before, but not from start to finish, so it was good to see that I should like this, since I have partly seen it.

If you don’t know what it’s about, it’s basically a standard American comedy film which surrounds beer and humour. If that sounds like your cup of tea already then you may like it, and if it’s something you don’t like, then you won’t.

The story is your classic American vs the Germans or the world, where as you’d expect, the Americans triumph. But unlike Independence Day or other films of that nature, this one takes the form of beer drinking competitions, when the boys go to Oktoberfest to spread their dead grandad’s ashes. Unknown to them, he was the keeper of a beer recipe for the best beer in “ze” world, and lose to the Germans in a beer drinking contest.

As you can probably imagine from what I’ve said above, it’s completely littered with stereotypical German and European scenes and language, which you can imagine an American who’s never set foot in Europe thinks. There’s the Stereotypical Brits, Irish, Australian and as mentioned the Germans, along with some blonde Swedish girls who you obviously see with no tops on.

It is of course all light hearted, and is supposed to be a comedy film, and isn’t too bad. Having said that, it’s not brilliant either, but it is watchable. If you want to watch something which is really laid back and easy, with a few laughs and of course the European stereotypes, this is one of those films which will work.
