Throwback Thursday – Dream Team & Harchester United Shirt

For Throwback Thursday I thought I would dig out some old footy shirts! Usually for a Throwback Thursday I do something I loved from the 90’s, well this is a bit older, and comes from the early noughties. Did you watch Dream Team?

First of all I have to explain the fit of the shirts….They don’t fit! Years ago when I bought football shirts I would buy 1 size larger, because I liked a baggy style; I was also a size large, bigger than I am now where I get a medium or even a small; These shirts are a size XL, as you can see these days far too big for me!

So what’s the big deal with Dream Team? If you have never heard of it, it was a show on Sky One about a fictional football team, Harchester United. They were in the Premier League, and it was basically a soap/drama about the team, players and so on. A bit like Footballers Wives was, however this started out as a more football orientated show rather than the drama off the pitch, and also not as rude, since the first few runs of the show went out at 6:30pm. The show started off really well, then after a few series went down hill, and then turned completely rubbish. It was quite hard to keep the show going, since they are actors and they’d leave the show, there were plenty of “deaths” in the programme, and in the end it became too dramatic and not believable.

Still, it was a great show for a long time with a real core following…So big in fact even though this is a completely fictional team, they created real football kits for fans to buy…and I have the home and away shirts! 😀

They used to say that they played in purple because when they edited footage purple was really easy to edit (they used real Premier League match footage and edited it, putting in players & doing double shots for close-ups). They used to use Chelsea quite a bit, dark blue is easy to turn purple 😀

There were a few shirts available for different seasons, made by real world brands such as Le Coq Sportif, these were made by Valsport with fictional sponsor Dream Inc. as well as an embroidered Harchester United badge with dragon logo (The Dragons were their nickname).

90’s Fashion – NAFF Co. 54

Thursday, 3rd September, 2015

naffco54-90s-fashion

Today’s Throwback Thursday takes a look at another fashion craze from the 90’s, in the shape of NAFF Co.54 – If you have not heard of this before, you’re too young, son!! 😉

NAFF Co.54 was also affectionately (and wrongly) known as NAFF NAFF, which is actually a completely different fashion brand from France. NAFF Co.54 was prominent in the early to mid 90’s, with the most popular things which we all had as kids were poly cotton jackets, and sweatshirts.

As you know I love the 90’s, as I will always maintain it was the best decade ever and I was lucky enough to have enjoyed it as a kid. I decided to recreate a one-off T Shirt for fun, I love using clothing as my canvas and recreating things from the past. I created this by hand, and I think it’s a good representation of the graphic.

Although it was really popular, it was seen as a bit of a cheap brand, cheaper than high street, but that did not stop them becoming popular among the masses, and is loved by those who are into 90’s culture.

90’s fashion has made a big comeback and is cool, even the stuff which was mocked back then, they’re now fondly remembered and adored 🙂

Did you own NAFF Co.54 clothing? You can get some serious 90s vibes, over in the style guide and get some inspo on how to dress like it’s the 90s.

Throwback Thursday: Mini Milk T-Shirt

Happy Throwback Thursday! Let’s go back to the 90’s and my childhood!

When I was a kid we used to always get mini milk ice lollies…Do they still make those!? The big appeal of them was not only did they taste really good, they were so cheap! You could get one for around 15p, that does sound a bit crazy these days! 😛

Anyway, I spotted some official Walls products, and then saw they did a mini milk T-Shirt which brought back some great memories, so I had to buy it! I love 90’s nostalgia and 90’s lifestyle, I maintain that it was the best decade to live in…Of course I would say that since it’s the decade which I grew up in 😉

The tee is of decent quality, it’s not brilliant, the Coca Cola and Pepsi T-Shirts are much better quality, but the print is super soft and really nice. As you will know if you read my blog I have a bit of a thing going for brands and logos on clothing, this fits right in with that. It cost £14.99 which is around what it’s worth, probably a bit less, although like I said I think that other logo tees I have are of a better quality cotton and a better fit.

If you’re into 90’s style and the come back then you should check out my 90’s fashion trends here, with inspiration and advice on everything from the nineties.

#TBT – The Royle Family

For my Throwback Thursdays I am going to step back into the amazing decade that was the 90s. It was an amazing time, the best decade in history, but since I grew up in it I would say that (But it is true!) 😉

In the late 90s we had The Royle Family, such an amazing comedy TV show. I used to love watching it so much, the last special was only a couple of years ago in 2012, but it takes me back to 1998, when I was still at school! I can’t believe how time has flown.

I’m sure I don’t have to give you a run down on the show and characters, the star is of course Jim Royle aka the dad played by Ricky Tomlinson, with Anthony (Ralf Little) playing such a brilliant role as his son who can do no right; Denise the daughter and Dave her husband/son-in-law, and of course Barbara, Jim’s wife and the mother. There’s also the hilarious supporting cast like Joe, Mary, Twiggy and of course Norma/nana.

It was one of my favourite shows and I would never miss an episode. Over Christmas I got thinking about it again, since they’ve done so many Christmas specials in the past, found that they’ve got the box set available so I bought it  I can’t wait to start watching it, if you’ve never seen it I recommend watching a bit on YouTube, you’ll love it and then buy the box set like me
