So I have had my hair long (not really long, but not shaved) for about a year and a half now, and since then I have had to use hair products. Since they were new to me, I have had to use a variety of different products and different brands, to see which one I like the best, and here are my mini reviews.
The first thing I will say is for this type of thing it is very much down to personal preference, so you may agree or disagree with the following which is fine
There are many different types of products out there; Gel, Wax, Clay, Gum and more. Each one is different, and then each one will be different from the different manufacturers. I have tried a few of each, here is what I currently have and tried lately.

You can see each one, and see what they actually look like when you open them. One which you cannot see pictured is my “Fudge gum” so I will write about that first.
Fudge Gum – It is one of the more expensive products out there, and I have to say I do not really like it. At first I did not know what gum was, I thought it was actually something in between wax and gel, but it is more of a gel and has a gel effect. It makes your hair quite hard which is not a style I particularly like.
Trevor Sorbie Clay – Clay is quite hard, and you have to make sure it isnt lumpy when you apply it. It is probably the best for styling longer hair, when my hair gets a bit too long I tend to use this more because it can manage longer/thicker hair better than wax. It gives a normal dry look, and keeps your hair feeling soft.
Trevor Sorbie Fibre Wax – This is like a very thick cream in texture, and one of my favourites. I use this when my hair is more short, usually after I have had my hair done. You can use a little amount and it manages hair well.
L’Oreal Studio Indestructible – This is extreme glue, and after I used it I did not like it. It has the same effects as the fudge gum, which is not for me. It seems like it will hold well, if you want an extreme hair style, so I guess the clue is in the name.
Soap And Glory Billy Wildhair – I like this one too. It is a wax, which is similar to the Trevor Sorbie fibre wax but less thick and more creamy. It seems to be better used when my hair is a bit on the shorter side.
L’Oreal Studio Indestructible Sculpting Wax – This wax is a thicker wax than the previous two, and is more of a greasy feel to it. However it works well, and keeps your hair soft.
So there you have it. If I could only use one then it would be one of the Trevor Sorbie’s, possibly the clay because it is the most versatile.
