Hey blog :)

So today is almost over, and it was an average kind of day. I have made a big change in the way I do stuff with work, it has been long overdue and today was the first day, and it went fine :D I changed one of the processes which I have been using at work since I started, so it was a bit tedious since it is new and I am not used to it. But it is the way forward for me and my business, I have cut out the jobsworths which I had to deal with ;)

Here is what I wore today:

  • FCUK Sweatshirt
  • Cheap Monday T Shirt
  • Boss Orange Jeans
  • Franklin And Marshall Jacket
  • Canada Goose Snood
  • H&M Belt
  • Converse Trainers

Today I saw a car I have never seen before, with a very hot lady driving, it was a Peugeot of all things. I got home and had a search and it is a Peugeot RCZ and looks amazing! (for a Peugeot). The other amazing thing about it is that it is only around £20,000 which seems like a great price; stick a BMW, Audi or other higher end badge and the price would be double, easily. Maybe I will get one? ;) haha!

If you are looking for a fashionable case for your iPad, look no further than these from Comme des Garçons. Here they are, in five different colours, and look very cool, sleek and smart. Make sure your iPad has the latest in fashion with one of these cases. My favourites are the light blue, green and the always vintage brown.

Sir Bobby Robson Breakthough Auction

Posted by Michael on Saturday 22nd October, 2011

I heard about this last week but forgot to blog about it. The Sir Bobby Robson breakthrough auction for the Sir Bobby Robson foundation.

There is a big auction with some really cool things, one being Jose Mourinho’s actual Ballon D’or trophy! How amazing is that?! It is currently at £6600 but I imagine it will go for a load more. Something else which is also cool is an “FC Barcelona experience” where you will meet Josep Guardiola and the first team, attend a training session, get a signed shirt, meet the first team and tickets for a game; What a prize! The auction is currently at £7600.

All in aid of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, you can find out more and bid by going to the site here.

Winter Fashion Items From Adidas

Posted by Michael on Friday 21st October, 2011

I got some things from Adidas, and they arrived today :D I decided to get a few things for this winter, and also the odd special piece too ;)

So I got two hats as you can see; One just a standard beanie hat in blue, which is reversible to white, and the other a bobble hat, red white and blue. I also got some Adidas gloves for the winter, they are Climawarm, so should keep my hands warm. Most t-shirts I have had from Adidas have been Climacool and are pretty good, so I am interested to see if these will keep me warm.

I got an Adidas Originals key chain too, I thought it looked cool, I love retro Adidas :P And last but not least I got something cool, an Adidas and Real Madrid captain’s armband. I already have a Spain one, but now I have a Real Madrid one too. Iker, Iker, Iker!!! ;)

Soy Capitán!

Friday 21st October 2011 – Friday Feeling!

Posted by Michael on Friday 21st October, 2011

Hey hey blog! :D

It’s finally Friday!! :D I do have that Friday feeling. Started work rather early, finished for the day and now I can relax and chill over the weekend.

I did go and buy Football Manager 2012 today; I did not go at midnight, I could not be bothered, and just got it from work which was easier, and still only £27.

I almost forgot about this cable knit I have, I love it, what do you think?…

  • Cable Knit jumper, so warm! :P
  • Cheap Monday Jeans
  • Converse Trainers
  • Marc Ecko Watch
  • Nudie T Shirt

Winter is here so I have got all my jumpers and knits and such ready to go! Scarves too, which I seem to have many :P

So tonight I will do pretty much nothing, I have no plans at least, which means a night of FM 2012 like I was a kid, haha ;)

Football Manager 2012 & Steam…Disgrace!

Posted by Michael on Friday 21st October, 2011

So today is the day that Football Manager 2012 was released, and what a shambles it has become. The whole gaming experience has been spoiled by Sports Interactive, Steam and SEGA; The three of them combined to bring us, the consumer, the ones who pay for the game, the worst experience possible.

It has all started since SEGA/SI Announced that the game MUST be installed with Steam; What is Steam? It is basically a place to legally pay, download and play games, similar to iTunes. That means if you are not a big gamer, you don’t buy games online or very often then you may not have even heard of Steam, let alone have it installed. So Sports Interactive/SEGA are forcing us to install 3rd party software to play their game. I don’t have anything bad to say about Steam (yet), other than I don’t want it, I won’t use it (for anything other than FM) and it should not be required to play a game I have just went out and spent my hard earned money on. There is also the argument that what if people don’t have the Internet, and so on, I could go on and on…

Why do we need to install steam, create an account with steam (yet more accounts we need to set up online), and “ask” steam if we are ok to play the game? You cannot uninstall steam once it is activated, you must have it running on your computer in order to play the game.

Got the game, was a (reasonably) happy customer, tried to play it and…..This happened. No longer happy! :( Downloading games, yeah, “It’s the future” nooooooottt!

Your game is assigned to your steam account. Which means you cannot use it on 2 machines at the same time, you cannot let a mate borrow it, and you cannot sell it as second hand. You can play it offline, however you must get the permission from steam to do that, physically using steam to select “play offline”, it’s like asking your mam if you can go out and play football which is fine if you are 7 years old, but at 27 it’s not ;)

After buying the game

OK So I go out and buy it, then go home and install steam and whatever, then create an account; (BTW – I still need to input the activation code which is in the box) Even though I have bought the disk it still tries to download the whole game! Over 2GB of it!! There is nothing which pops up which says “you have the game on the disk, you can follow these instructions to stop the download since you dont need to do it”. Fortunately for me I had only downloaded around 400mb of it when I found out you could stop that and install it through the disk. THEY ARE MAKING THINGS TOO DIFFICULT! Why can’t I just play the game I bought!!! I do not use steam, I am not familiar with it, so don’t fully know how it works. I imagine there are many others who don’t, but it seems Sports Interactive/SEGA don’t care.

OK, so WHY?!?!?!

And why do we have all of this? Because some people pirate the game. Why don’t they wake up and see that the only thing they are doing is spoiling the experience for the consumer, the fans, the people who pay for and play the game. People who steal the game will STILL steal the game, you will not stop them. If they invent some un-hackable protection what will the pirates do? They will just not bother. They will not go out and buy the game, because they never did in the first place. All you will of done is spend money and time on something which will never work, and upset lots and lots of loyal and genuine customers.

What will happen in next years game? Will we need to be pre-approved to buy it? Will SEGA/SI need to come and visit us all and make sure we are playing the game right? I may not want to find out, because I may not bother just like many others. The fact that Sports Interactive have to post massive FAQ’s about Steam, how it works, how to do things, etc. just shows how painful the entire experience actually is. What ever happened of putting in a disc and playing a game?

It seems a big shame to not buy a game for this reason, because in this whole thing I have not even mentioned the actual game itself; But this is the way some companies are going these days. Sports Interactive tries to market itself as the “grass roots” proper football fans kind of game and company, and they once were. They have now forgotten the fans, the people that buy the game, and their paranoid ideas of copy protection are only harming the consumers. And yeah, I do know that many will read this with the “Well just don’t buy the game, nobody is forcing you, blah blah blah”, but I like the games, the problem is the hoops you now have to jump through; It seems to be getting worse and worse, and I am sure at some point I will say enough is enough, as will others if they haven’t already.

The latest Football Manager games, I have the rest somewhere. I remember CM 93 and the copy protection of “tell us the score for…”, those were the days! :D

Olympic Football – Team GB – Thoughts?

Posted by Michael on Thursday 20th October, 2011

It was announced today that Stuart Pearce has been named the manager of Team GB. There is a bit of controversy with the team, and the opposing home nations (all apart from England) do not want to take part.

What do you think? I personally think that they shouldn’t worry, because none have any players good enough! You could argue with Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale, but that is pretty much it. If you are to pick the strongest squad, then there would be nobody from N. Ireland and Scotland, and the team would be made up of almost all English players.

The team must consist of Under 23 players, however you are allowed 3 guest players who can be of any age. This means David Beckham could play, he wants to, and I hope he does :) It is a rare thing for a footballer to get an Olympic medal, especially an English one since there is no British team, so he should go for it. The other possibility is Ryan Giggs playing, which would be great! :P

The biggest problem with the Olympic Football is that the Euro’s are the same year. So the big names from England will be playing in that, and their clubs will not want them to play in 2 summer tournaments. That will mean the same for the Spain team, which has a few good young players in it. I suspect a team from outside Europe will win, because of Euro 2012; Argentina have won the previous 2 tournaments and the last time a European nation won it was in 1992, in Barcelona and it was Spain with a star studded squad. Spain also made the final in 2000 in Sydney but lost on a penalty shootout to Nigeria.

One of the stadiums being used for the Olympic football is our very own St James’ Park in Newcastle, and I will try and go to a game as long as some good teams are playing, Spain? You never know :P (not yet anyway!)

20th October 2011 – Get Your Geek On!

Posted by Michael on Thursday 20th October, 2011

Hello blog :)

So today I went for a run, even though its freezing and I decided that I wouldn’t run any more this year. But it was only a small run, since I had to go and pay a huge credit card bill I thought I would run haha

Today is geek day, so I wore my Mario T Shirt :P Why is it geek day? Well, Football Manager 2012 is out tonight at midnight! So I think I will go out and buy it at midnight, like I did last year. I haven’t done that for any game this year, last year I did it with a few, including FIFA 11 where I had to queue for an hour! :( I only do it because I do not trust ordering online, I have done it before only to be told they have “no stock”; Also don’t wanna go into town to get it because they will probably charge more and I have to go out of my way to get in; I never drive in the town so have to get the bus.

Yesterday my promotion stickers came! They are the familiar design, “Hello My Name Is…” and you can write whatever you like :P So I have done a few for a laugh….

I have got them for work for promotion, I will give them away to my customers so they can have fun :P
