Monday 7th November 2011

Posted by Michael on Monday 7th November, 2011

Hello blog :)

So another Monday rolls around, how was yours? Mine was cold, freezing! Truly winter today, I had to clear the ice from my car this morning, not a good sign :( I posted earlier that I have been alive for exactly 10,000 days today, pretty cool :P

I have also made a change to the blog, the “brands I heart” part has been updated. I had this old graphic from the start of my blog in 2009, and never really changed it. But times change, fashion changes, my style and tastes changes, so I have updated it and removed some brands, but mostly added new ones, what do you think?

I have added a few key brands such as Monkee Genes, Cheap Monday, Converse and Ray Ban which I write about or wear quite a bit.

Here is what I wore today:

  • Adrian Hammond Jacket
  • Ted Baker Scarf
  • J Lindeberg T Shirt
  • Armani Jeans

I may make a few other changes to my blog; The header (main image) is quite old and needs to be done; It was always something which has been on the “to do list” to do for my blog, and it was always a bit temporary, but it hasnt changed much if it all in 2 years :P I may add other features too, but as I have always said, I want to keep this as a “blog” and not some corperate CMS/website.

England vs Spain – Saturday @ Wembley

Posted by Michael on Monday 7th November, 2011

Big Big game on Saturday! It is England vs Spain at Wembley, with a 17:15 kick off. I tried to get tickets a while back, could not find a place which was selling the Spain tickets (in the Spain end) then yesterday I found that you can buy them on the English F.A. site! :( Too late now I think.

The Spain squad is pretty strong, a few names missing but otherwise it is a great squad.

Casillas, Reina, Valdes

Ramos, Arbeloa, Puyol, Pique, Alba, Albiol, Monreal

Xavi, Alonso, Busquets, Cazorla, Martinez, Fabregas, Iniesta, Navas, Silva

Villa, Torres, Llorente, Mata.

And the England Squad

Hart, Carson, Stockdale

G Johnson, Jones, Cahill, Terry, Cole, Baines, Jagielka, Lescott, Walker

Lampard, Rodwell, Downing, Barry, A Johnson, Milner, Parker, Walcott

Bent, Sturridge, Agbonlahor, Zamora, Welbeck

Looks pretty poor in comparison :P

Spain will also play Costa Rica on Tuesday, and England will play Sweden.

MTV EMA 2011 – Belfast – Pics And Awards

Posted by Michael on Sunday 6th November, 2011

The EMA’s are over for another year, and I thought it was quite good. It opened with an amazing performance from Coldplay, and there were plenty of other good performances, my favourites were David Guetta and Coldplay, LMFAO were great too. Amy Winehouse got a special mention which was done by Jessie J, who performed on her own and then with David Guetta. Lady Gaga was the big winner on the night, winning 4 awards.

A naked guy who I assume was part of the show came on the stage and streaked, full frontal nudity.

As expected out of all the awards NONE went to any European artists, apart from the Icon award which went to Queen. They made a few changes to the awards ceremony. First, they gave out less awards on the night, and did that “also winning tonight…” cut-a-way that they used to do for less important awards, but this year seemed to do it to so many awards. There were no announcements to the best European winner, and they had a new category for “Worldwide act” which was basically the winners of continental awards against each other for the Worldwide award. Europe’s winner was Lena, but once again Europe did not even win that award at it’s own show, Worldwide act went to Big Bang from South Korea (Best Asia and Pacific Act).

If you want to know the best European artists, like I do, here are the ones who won for each country. You will also know that Lena from Germany won the best European Act (as mentioned above).

Christmas Fragrances 2011 – What To Buy?

Posted by Michael on Sunday 6th November, 2011

Christmas time is coming, and if it’s one thing a man wants, needs and should get for Christmas it is a new scent. If you read my blog you will know I love my fragrances, and I have so many, but will be getting more this year as usual. I have put together a few of my favourites and what I think are really nice.

So here are 7 which I can safely say are amazing. I have them all except the first one, which I am getting this year but have already had a smell and it is really nice. What do we have here?

  • Marc Jacobs – Bang Bang
  • 212 VIP by Carolina Herrera
  • Bvlgari MAN
  • Gucci by Gucci
  • Dolce And Gabbana The One Gentleman
  • Armani Code
  • Narciso Rodriguez

A mix of some old and some new. These are all very nice, and I can’t recommend them enough. Bang Bang is the newest scent here, with Armani Code being the oldest, but still worth having. Bvlgari MAN and 212 VIP are also quite recent.

If you are looking for an EDT or aftershave to buy for yourself or someone then I recommend the above which are really good.

I have also found a couple which I have not tried, but may do, which are…

  • YSL L’Homme Libre
  • Dior Higher
  • Armani Code Sport

I am really interested in the YSL and Dior, I will have to try them out and see if they are any good.

MTV EMA – Belfast 2011

Posted by Michael on Sunday 6th November, 2011

It is that time of the year again, the MTV Europe Music Awards 2011 live from Belfast. I used to LOVE the EMAs, but it seems with each year that passes they get more and more “American” with artists from the U.S. performing and winning the awards, and not many from Europe, despite it being the EUROPEAN Music Awards. I like some of the U.S. music of course, but I think the Euro’s should be more involved.

This year the UK has been dominating the music world which has been amazing, so I am hoping that there are plenty of awards for UK artists.

Performing on the night will be:

Bruno Mars, Coldplay, David Guetta, Jason Derulo, Jessie J, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, LMFAO, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Snow Patrol and Queen. It is hosted by Selena Gomez.

As for the Nominees, well another year rolls by and it’s another year dominated by the Americans. Jessie J and Adele lead the way for the UK, and that is pretty much it for Europe. David Guetta and Coldplay are nominated too, Justice get their seemingly annual nomination, Arctic Monkeys and Enrique also get a nomination.

What do you think of the EMA’s?

My favourite performances were in 1998; Busta Rhymes did an amazing performance, and I loved Pras featuring Destiny’s Child, it was great. I would show them, but they are not on YouTube :(

It starts tonight on MTV UK at 8pm for the Red Carpet show, and 9pm for the main show.

Adidas Team GB Football Shirt Announced

Posted by Michael on Saturday 5th November, 2011

The Adidas Team GB Shirt has been announced and is available to buy/pre-order now from all the usual sports shops. Here it is, what do you think of it?

There doesn’t seem to be an away shirt, not yet anyway. I think it looks quite good, a bit “Japan” looking. I will be getting it, I am just waiting for shops to start selling it at a good price; The official Olympic store is selling it at £52, but I already seen it elsewhere for £50 and has since been reduced to £45, so will wait for the price to settle.

The thing I really want is printing, as usual :P So, will this be the back of my shirt in the summer…

I REALLY want Beckham to play! I hope he gets picked, and this is an Adidas shirt, Becks is an Adidas man, so please Adidas make this happen!! ;)

Friday 4th November 2011

Posted by Michael on Friday 4th November, 2011

Hey hey blog :)

So its Friday yet again, another Friday rolls around, do you have that Friday feeling? I do! :D I have just put the CDs I got on my computer so I can listen to them from it, and will put them on my iPhone too at some point. I love the Fugees, I can’t believe I went so long without listening to their stuff, probably more than 10 years without listening to tracks like Killing Me Softly and Ready Or Not.

I got my Football shirt which I am going to transform into a Renford Rejects shirt :P I ended up going for the Umbro black and blue striped shirt, and now I have to design logos, sponsor and also name and number on the back.

Coming up with a “logo” i.e. a badge will be hard, I may just end up writing Renford Rejects on the shirt on the left breast opposite the umbro badge; The “real” shirts did not have a badge anyway.

Last night I watched Bad Teacher which was pretty good. As soon as I turned it on I noticed a name I recognised in the credits, “Lucy Punch” who was in Renford Rejects! :P How strange is that, from Renford to a Hollywood movie with Cameron Diaz

Vans Era Trainers

Posted by Michael on Friday 4th November, 2011

You know, I love my Converse trainers, and have so many pairs now, but another brand which I like is Vans. They are a huge hit in the skateboarding and BMX worlds, but have now become more mainstream and are quite fashionable. They will not look out of place in your wardrobe, and are doing some very cool styles which are fast becoming very popular.

One style which I have found is the Vans Era 59. They are a canvas based trainer, and these particular pairs have a checked lining which looks quite cool. You can get Vans era 59 at size.co.uk and are currently available in three colours, blue, grey and black, and I think I prefer the look of the blue. They look very smart with the colour of the metal eyelets complimenting them well. These pairs are currently running at £52.
