Fleets, PS5, Becks In FIFA 21, The Grand Tour Is Back! Fashion & Lifestyle News This Week

Lifestyle
Saturday, 21st November, 2020

Hey guys!

I hope you are well. For this week’s fashion & lifestyle news I have found a couple of stories which have caught my eye over the week.

There’s been nothing in the way of clothes or fashion, but I have seen: Fleets announced by Twitter, the PlayStation 5 is released, The Grand Tour finally making a come back, PPV scrapped for the Premier League and David Beckham in FIFA 21.

Here’s what I think of these stories in full.

PlayStation 5

If you’re a PlayStation guy then Thursday 19th November 2020 is a good date, the PS5 has been released.

That is, if you can get it. Predictably it has sold out everywhere, sparking a lot of outrage on social media. As you’ll know, I managed to get a Xbox Series X which I think is brilliant. I might get a PS5 years down the line, who knows!

If you got your hands on a PS5, congrats! If you didn’t they’re £449 for the disk drive model, and £359 for the digital only model. Hopefully they’ll get more stock soon.

The Grand Tour Presents… A Massive Hunt

They’re back!! The Grand Tour is back for episode 2 of season 4. Yes, episode 2, it will air a year after the first episode of season 4 on Amazon Prime.

It’s called The Grand Tour Presents…A Massive Hunt, and will see Clarkson, May and Hammond travel across Madagascar in modified cars. The cars are a Bentley Continental GT V8, a Ford Focus RS and Caterham 7.

This follows episode 1 which was ‘Seamen’, where the trio attempted to cross the Mekong Delta in boats. That aired 13th December 2019.

This must be the longest gap between episodes in TV, over a year. The episode was said to have been filmed in November 2019, a few months later Clarkson & Wilman took to a livestream to explain it took a long time to edit footage. COVID 19 happened and here we are, almost a year later.

They also said they had plans to film the next episode in Russia, but because of the virus, that didn’t happen.

The Grand Tour Presents…A Massive Hunt will air on Amazon Prime 18th December 2020. You can check out the trailer above.

Twitter Introduces Fleets

Has Twitter became cool again? Or at least more usable? Maybe…

Twitter has announce the roll out of it’s new feature it had been testing in a few countries, Fleets. Fleets are tweets which are only temporary, i.e. they disappear. You can think of this feature as a similar one to Story Mode in Snapchat, Instagram Stories, and Facebook Stories.

You can post text, images or videos, and they disappear after 24 hours.

OPINION: I think this is a good move. I think it’s the way the web should go. I have spoken a lot about Twitter being toxic, and I don’t use it as much. One big problem with the web (especially social media) is posts from years gone by being dragged up.

A lot of people, including myself, embrace self-destructing messages. In fact, one of the ways I use Twitter is removing tweets after every month or so. My thinking behind this was that tweets are instant, ‘of the moment’. Do they need to be there after 30 days? Are they still relevant? In my opinion, for the most part, no.

The name isn’t great, but other than that, I like this feature.

I don’t have this feature yet, but Twitter has announced it’s being rolled out globally. [Source: twitter]

No More PPV Premier League

The Premier League have officially confirmed that the PPV has been scrapped! Starting this weekend, all matches will be shown as before, on platforms BT Sport, Sky Sports, Amazon and BBC. This is a reversal from the Premier League going PPV back in October.

Once again we’ll be able to watch Premier League football on free to air TV, which was a first when the first lockdown happened. The first game this weekend will be Newcastle vs Chelsea on BT Sport at midday. [Source – BBC]

David Beckham In FIFA 21

As I mentioned last week, some celebs and stars have been added to FIFA 21 VOLTA and FUT modes. As speculated, David Beckham is one of the legends, which was officially announced this week.

Having a playable David Beckham once again in FIFA is kind of cool, I am not so sure about the other celebs and stars with no connection to football or even sport.

And that’s it for this week! The Fleets from Twitter has been the biggest story for me this week, I’ll be checking that out to see how it all goes in the near future.
