Hey!

So there is a show which is popular in the U.S. on MTV called Jersey Shore. Its now going to be shown on MTV UK, and you can watch the first episode on their website.

The show is a reality TV show, but not like The Hills or The City. Its shown so you see the scene, and then it cuts to one of the cast members talking about that scene and what they thought/what was happening…I dont know what that is technically called in TV but i hate that format. It spoils the flow of the show.

The majority of the cast claim to be Italian Americans. You will need to learn the words “Guido” and “Guidette”. That is apparently slang for a low class/working class Italian American, and is supposed to be demeaning, but its used in this show to be a “cool, good looking” Italian American. There has been lots of contraversy with the word…Watch the show and see why….Try and count how many times the word is used in just the first part of the first show!

There are 8 cast members, boys and girls; sterotypical “guidos”, bitchy girls, and more. If you think The Hills is fake then you havent seen nothing yet. They live in a house for the summer in Jersey Shore, and get jobs etc.

I dont think i will watch any more of this, unless its on when there is nothing else on. It starts on Sunday, at 21.00
