Adidas Originals Spain Shirt From 1994

Posted by Michael on Tuesday 3rd April, 2012

Adidas Originals have launched this re make of a classic shirt which I love, the Spain home shirt from 1994. This was worn in the 1994 World Cup in the USA. I really liked this shirt, I got one from Spain when I was 10, not “authentic” though ;)

What do you think? I think it looks really great :D The only thing I do not like is that is has “España” printed on the back where the name should be. I would of liked it more if this was plain, or a player from 1994 (I think no.5 was Abelardo?) .

The price is £45, but it is made by Adidas and is an “Adidas originals” shirt. I have had other so called “remakes” which have been not so good. It’s pretty good, 18 years old, maybe older than some of you readers! ;) I am unsure of what it is made from, I hope it is polyester like a proper football shirt and the original, I do not like it when they make these “remakes” in pure cotton like a regular t-shirt.

This was worn by the Spain team, including one of my favourite players, Luis Enrique

Sunglasses Guide 2012

Posted by Michael on Thursday 29th March, 2012

Since we have had amazing sun and summer is coming, I thought I would write my little sunglasses guide for 2012. There are a few different things to think about when getting sunglasses, which are: style, shape, size, and brand. Sunglasses can be a good investment, even in the UK where we get hardly any sun ;) You can have a good pair for years, if you pick the right pair.

Stick with the classics

If you are not sure what to buy then my advice is to stick to the classics, and I have probably the only two pair that you actually need to own; A pair of aviators and a pair of wayfarers. Both of these styles are timeless and have been around forever. My brand of choice for both of these is the timeless brand, Ray Ban. They are really cool, and they are the brand of sunglasses to own. You can pick up a pair of each of these for around £100, in an array of styles, colours and sizes. You cannot go wrong with these and once you get a pair, it will be the only brand you want to own!

Aviators or Wayfarers?

Well Aviators are called so for obvious reasons, they were used by pilots which is where the name comes from. Today they are worn by many, you can get a large number of different styles, colours and sizes, different lenses, many different combinations. Usually very thin frames with rounded oval style lenses.

Wayfarers are more famous for the rock and roll lifestyle, rockstars and the like. Famously worn by The Blues Brothers in the movie of the same name, these have been around for such a long time and will never go out of fashion. Usually Plastic framed in a sort of squared oval kind of shape.

Other shapes and styles

There are other shapes and styles of course. Round, square, rectangular, rimless wrap around and more.

Which size is best for me?

This is the hardest question to answer. The best bet is to go and try some on. If you buy some sunglasses and it tells you the size (e.g. 58mm) it is hard to imagine what that actually looks like on you! Go to a store and try some on, then you will know, if the store is expensive you can always remember the brand/model number and go online to check out the prices. You can get small, medium, large and over-sized glasses, so it depends on the look you are going for and what you think suits you best.

Sunglasses brand vs Fashion label

OK, if you are buying a brand who specialises in sunglasses such as Ray Ban, Carrera, Oakley etc. there may be a lot more options and variations to choose from over a fashion label. For example Ray Ban do many styles of sunglasses, but within those style they do different colours, and within that they do those in different sizes, so they have a huge number of options for each style.

If you go for a more prestigious name in the fashion world such as Louis Vuitton, Roberto Cavalli, Bvlgari etc. then you might find a great style, but the sizes/colours will be limited and they are usually more expensive because of the brand.

The quality of sunglasses

Something you may want to know is the quality of sunglasses, i.e. are they well made? Well, if you buy a good pair then they should be. However remember that these are sunglasses, yes made from glass, so they are quite fragile.

A company called Luxottica who are the biggest eyewear company in the world are the company who manufacturer a huge number of sunglasses which you buy, and are made in Italy. Luxottica not only own a few brands such as Ray Ban, but they also make sunglasses for others too. So if you buy a pair of Ray Ban, Oakley, Chanel, Prada, Burberry and D&G to name just a few, they could all come from the same place.

Personal favourites

Well my personal favourites are my aviators which I love and wear the most, followed by my wayfarers. Here are the sunglasses I own at the moment.

D&G Sunglasses, Marni for H&M, Ray Ban Aviators, Ray Ban Wayfarers, Prada Sunglasses.

What to buy for 2012?

Well last year I was looking at these from Louis Vuitton to buy for this year, I think they are cool and will be quite exclusive…

I still like them, but not as much as when I saw them. However something else has caught my eye, from Ray Ban (again!) I really like the “Ray Ban Caravan” style. I think these are cool sunglasses for this year. If I get some new sunglasses this year then it may be these, although I already have so many pair!

What do you think of the Caravan from Ray Ban?

Like an aviator, but a more angular and squared style, I think these look great. Again since it is from this brand symbolic of shades these are available in many sizes, frame colours and lens colours.

Easter Egg From Roberto Cavalli

Posted by Michael on Tuesday 27th March, 2012

Easter is right around the corner, and what everyone needs are Easter eggs. If you want a fashionable Easter egg, then Cavalli has something for you, they have their own range of Roberto Cavalli Easter eggs!

There are 2 Easter eggs available, both coming in these cool boxes. You can get a zebra inspired dark and white chocolate egg, or the giraffe inspired milk and white chocolate egg. If you want this kind of luxury each egg will set you back €139 (euros).

If chocolate is not your thing they have a vodka gift set which does look amazing and very tempting. I love the Roberto Cavalli vodka, it is more than just the name, it really does taste very good and is very smooth. I have had 2 or 3 bottles of it and I can say it’s one of the best vodka’s which I have had.

The vodka (70cl) comes in this really nice presentation box with four shot glasses, and costs €89 (euros).

So that’s a Happy Easter from Roberto Cavalli! If someone wants to get me an Easter egg this year, one of the above will do nicely! ;)

All of these are available now from Caffé Giacosa here.

2 New Pair Of Converse – Green And Purple

Posted by Michael on Saturday 24th March, 2012

Hey blog!

How are you on this sunny Saturday? I am good, and really happy as I have my brand new Converse, in fact 2 new pair which I have been excited to get :) Here they are:

I have a new “Classic Green” colour which I like, and the ones I have wanted for quite a while, the purple ones. These 2 pair cost around £78, the green were £40 if I remember and the purple slightly cheaper at £38. I believe this green is the new summer green from Converse, and I think it looks nice :) I now have 6 different colours, and I will get more! :D I will probably be mixing them up, I think a green and purple will go together well, what do you think? ;)

I love Converse

What is your favourite colour Converse? I will be looking at getting some of the others soon ;)

New(er) Adidas Team GB Football Kit Unveiled 2012 Olympics

Posted by Michael on Thursday 22nd March, 2012

I bet you are thinking, the team GB Shirt for 2012 Olympics was announced and released months ago, in fact I have it and I blogged about it here! Well apparently that is not the shirt the players will  be wearing on the pitch, as they have unveiled the team GB kits, including a football kit which is a different kit to the one they had released several months ago.

Before I go on I have to say I am rather mad about it. I was under the impression that the blue shirt was the football shirt which would be worn, and apparently it seems this newer one is. I got this impression as I imagine many others did since Adidas had Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Rodwell wearing it, all the sports and football shirt shops were selling it and they have shorts and socks to go with it…Seemed like a football kit at the time. It was also marketed at football kit kind of prices, £50 for the shirt, and was being sold by the major football shops like Subside, Kitbag, Sports Direct etc.

If the older blue shirt is just a “presentation jersey” as they are now calling it, why was it being sold at football kit prices?

Apparently it was a “commemorative 2012 olympic shirt”.

Here is the new(er) kit which was launched today, being worn by Jack Rodwell.

The kit is made by Adidas and designed by Stella Mccartney. This is just the football one, there are others for the other sports, which follow the same type of design.

What do you think?

I have read peoples thoughts on various sites and many saying they actually prefer the older one, a lot of people saying they don’t like this and many complaints about the lack of the colour red.

I think it looks decent, I would like to see more pics of it. I am just angry that I wanted to buy the Team GB Football shirt and now Adidas kindly tell us the blue shirt I got in November 2011 is not it, which means having to spend more money on this new shirt. They should of made it very clear from the start that the blue shirt was NOT the match replica shirt.

My blue shirt, now known as NOT the shirt Team GB will be wearing on the pitch.

The blue shirt, November 2011 which is NOT the official kit but a “commemorative” shirt.

Finally Got My Marni At H&M Things

Posted by Michael on Friday 16th March, 2012

Today I finally received my Marni at H&M items I ordered last Thursday. I thought they would of came yesterday, when I order off H&M it usually comes exactly a week later, but it came today instead, no big deal.

I got a t-shirt and pair of sunglasses, here they are:

Both items carry the “Made in China” label, which really takes some of the shine off this since it’s supposed to be a “designer” collection; I suppose you can’t expect too much at the prices they were charging. The t-shirt feels like good material, quite a thick tee, and is a cool design. 25% of the sale price goes to the Red Cross disaster relief efforts in Japan which is cool.

The sunglasses are OK, they come in a box and carry pouch. Only the fronts are painted black and the insides of the frame are a cream/green colour. They are a gradient lens, but look pretty nice quality; Not going to give Ray Ban a run for their money, but not bad for £20.

Both items were £19.99 each, and I am pretty happy with them.
